C21Media.net is reporting that Cartoon Network US has officially commissioned Season 3 of Transformers Animated for delivery in Spring 2009. This is the first confirmation of Cartoon Network officially greenlighting the season, although it has already been revealed through people involved with the show that work was already proceeding. The article also states that Entertainment Rights has secured the rights to the 13 episodes in Season 3, which will now possibly air in the 80 different territories in which they distribute the broadcast rights.

Man I don't know what I'd do without a Transformers series. There is always that girlfriend thing I hear so much about.

As far as i remember, there was never a Movie mentioned, only a 3 parter at the beginning of the season. and I think Kickback said that the cameos of Hot Rod etc. will be cut for time reasons!
Railguard
Wow, that sounds really cool.

So, no one knows what happened to the 90-minutes special with the awesome fight scene at the beginning with a lot of cameos that is supposed to hook us into Season 3.

Honestly, I don't mind the wait. I'd rather they take their time and deliver the same high-quality stuff we got in season 2.
Besides, the longer the show stretches out, the better chance we have of getting an Animated Omega Supreme toy!

Well maybe if we're lucky, Cartoon Network will do with Animated what a lot of other networks do with their shows once they become successful: instead of Season 3 just being 13 episodes, it will be split into Season 3 Part 1 and 2, each with 13 episodes apiece for a nice grand total of 26 episodes (aka more or less a standard count of any TV show). It's a pretty common practice nowadays and really helps cut down on the wait time between new episodes.

Yes the return on the greatest Transformers cartoon ever!!!
Brandon

Whooohooooo! About damn time. But not until early Spring? But it could be worse (not getting another season worse).
Draven
Woohoo! Sooner, the better!
Their loss. not ours.
optimusprime42
good things happen for those that wait
AniProwl
Yay for season 3!
But what happened to the big 90-minute special that Kickback was mentioning in the Season 3 speculation thread?
evebird
And there was great rejoicing throughout the land.
dark69
aw only 13 oh well still cool
Drake
Awsome news. Sucks we have to wait that long though.

Because the original order for TFA season 1-2 was 2 13ep seasons and 1 stv movie.
The count then since the stv movie was 90 minutes is breaking it into three parts for foreign airings. It was always intended as one stv movie, even if production numbers show three parts for cheaper cost. Though no one has posted with the production numbers anyway.
This order is just a 1×13 episode count, which just means similiar to JL-JLU CN is taking this one order at a time after a groundbreaking successful start. The next renewal will probably be during the summer or fall as movie hype is still rolling. This also gives them an out, if for some godforsaken reason the movie actually bombs. Though that's doubtful, it's still a concern for them as it would kill ratings potentially instead of bolstering them more like they hope.
Though in consideration of how they've recently done Ben 10 AF, there is indeed a good chance season 4 could be that fall, it's a great way to get the hype rolling after movie, for the next, but I'd expect them to probably just be milking TFA hellas during the theater run. What would rock even more is if besides a superbowl ROTF trailer, they gave us a TFA season 3 premiere ROTF trailer too. Granted this is assuming the trailer and teaser already would be shown during another film's theater run. So I'm talking televised world premiere, not theater worldwide premiere.

I don't do this for just anything.

Considering the what, 29 eps. we got so far? 13 does seem an episode or two short, but still awesome news none the less.
