Transformers Animated Season 2 DVD Box Set Released Today wg
Today marks the release of the Transformers Animated Season 2 DVD Box Set in the United States and Canada. This release contains the thirteen episodes from Season 2, a Season 2 photo gallery, and two extra Animated shorts. Toon Zone confirms that the set also contains commentary by Supervising Director Matt Youngberg, Art Director Derrick J. Wyatt, Story Editor/Head Writer Marty Isenberg, and Hasbro Lead Product Designer Eric Siebenaler for the episodes "Mission Accomplished" and "Garbage In, Garbage Out".

The season 1 DVD was a major disappointment for extras, but the season 2 set takes solid steps to make amends. All the extras are on disc 1, with the best of them being the 2 commentary tracks that accompany the episodes "Mission Accomplished" and "Garbage In, Garbage Out." Both tracks feature Supervising Director Matt Youngberg, Art Director Derrick J. Wyatt, Story Editor/Head Writer Marty Isenberg, and Hasbro Lead Product Designer Eric Siebenaler. The number and variety of participants ensures that these commentary tracks are tremendously informative and entertaining, with no dead spots or vapid comments. From their comments, it's also clear that the crew has as much fun making the show as fans will have watching it. We also get two more animated shorts, this time starring the Decepticons. They're not quite as amusing as the ones starring the Autobots that were on "Transform and Roll Out," but they're not bad. The last extra is another photo gallery, but be forewarned that it contains major spoilers for the episodes on disc 2, so don't page through it before you've finished watching the whole season.
G1Wheeljack:
Awesome, I'll have to pick this up when I see it.
T16skyhopp:
anyone know the retail on the pack?
General Tekno:
AWESOME.

Hopefully HMV has it - that way I can pick it up while waiting for the bus.
Grimwing:
Want. I got the season 1+ transform and roll out for christmas. Been watching it constantly. I'll look for it tonight but it may not be out until walmarts* new mod on Jan 12th.

Either way, the special features on this volume I should say are a cut above the previous two volumes; Commentary is crazy rare for the transformers toy property even if it is just mission accomplished and garbage in garbage out.

But its still garbage in garbage out. So its bound to be a fun and eventful commentary with all the fan references popping in there.

Just noticed wreck gar as the frontpage thumbnail for the release. He probably has a palette of season 2 stuck in his backpack.
Heat Guy:
Need to go get mine today.
ikado:
Where do they sell the bundle with Season One and the Pilot movie?
Eric:
NICE! Can't wait to get it!
Recall:
Why hasn't Season 1 hit the UK yet?

The "Season 1" DVD boxset over here is just the first 3 episodes. Well according to places such as play.com and amazon.
Deefuzz:
Wow I didn't even realize this was being released already.

Nice.

$18 most places, online anyway (Amazon, Walmart.com, bestbuy.com)
I tried to find out if that's the instore price for Wal-Mart, but when I called the one here they said they didn't get any new releases today at all, which is ridiculous.

Not quite right:
Animated will be release in Volumes in Europe! THe first to have Volumes were UK and Germany, and according to Paramount Germany the desicion to not release the season sets where made in the UK.
Volume One includes the episodes: Home is where the Spark is, Meltdown, Blast from the Past and Thrill of the Hunt.
Volume Two will be released, according to Paramount Germany, in March or April 2009 and will include the episodes Nanosec, Along came a Spider, Sound and Fury and Lost and Found.
Volume Three will feature the episodes Survival of the Fittest, Headmaster, Nature Calls and Megatron Rising Part One and Two.
No Date for Volume Three was given to me...
GAUGE0001:
I bought Season 2 just now from my local Music store ZIA REACORD EXCHANGE.

I'll let ya'll know how it tunrs out
Spider Striker:
Can't remember the last time I picked up a DVD on it's release day, but I was going to Wal*Mart anyway, so YAY!!

Haven't watched any yet (waiting till my sister is done with her homework), but there's already a couple things about the packaging that bug me.

One, the summary on the back talks about "the loss of the Key" instead of the AllSpark. Honest mistake, I guess, but still kinda annoying.

Two, the pictures on the discs are just 'Bot and 'Con group shots like the last season. Simple enough, and the 'bots are at least in Different poses, but the 'Con side has the exact same characters, including sounwave! He's not even in that season! No Wreck-Gar? No Mix and Scrap? Still no Blackarachnia?

Yeah, I slipped into "stereotypical fan boy" there for a bit, but can you blame me?
GogDog:
Got mine from Walmart today! Both seasons.
Heat Guy:
Went to 5 places today to get it, not a one had it, not even my work.
Switchblade:
Got it at Best Buy ($24.99). I wanted the pilot/season 1 bundle, too, but they only had them separately. I'll need to check Target this week to find that.
Aaron:
OOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!

I'ma have to go and get this DVD.
TRANS+CRAZY:
Yea! Season 2 is out! Gotta get it so that way I can be prepared for when season 3 airs.
muffinhunter:
Pre-ordered mine on Deep Discount so long ago that I'd almost forgotten. It was sent a few days ago, so hopefully I'll have it tomorrow.
MWG:
I picked up the Season 1/Pilot bundle at Walmart today, price $19.96+tax. So if you are looking for that set, Walmart is a pretty good bet (its also on their website, priced $23 something). Beats the heck out of buying the two separate, considering the pilot alone at about $15 was WAY too much for me (three episodes for that price vs. a whole season for $20?).

Sideswipe80:
Got it will be watching it with my wife tonight!

You might want to go back this week and get a pricematch. BestBuy.com is offering season 2 for $17.99 right now and they will always pricematch their online store without any hesitation.

So for anyone else out there, it looks like that might be the best price in-store even if it does require an extra step at checkout. Otherwise both Target and Walmart have season 2 for $20.

As far as the bundle of Transform and Roll Out/Season 1, Walmart looks to be the best place since in-store is $20. (I purchased mine at Target for $25, but now need to return that copy since I grabbed another at Walmart 5 minutes later).
Mumble-bee:
I already bought the movie and the first season the weeks they came out, because I don't have cable TV (it's too expensive for how little I would watch) and so had seen very little of it.

Even tho it means waiting a little longer I'm ordering it online to save a few bucks.

Thank you very much for that info, its a shame they release it in volumes and usually take many years to release series' as a boxset, which I prefer.
