Transformers Animated Lugnut Images and Video Review

Got a package in the mail today, and what did it contain?





Why, Animated Lugnut of course!


First off, his alt mode is pretty big, due to the wings and tail:







The guns on the cockpit can rotate. Other than that, that's about it for plane mode

Robot mode is nice and bulky. Similar to Bulkhead, in that he's not a giant height-wise, but the way he folds in on himself makes him nice and hefty.










You can see him there with the mace stored on his back and removed. Posability is pretty decent, maintaining good range of motion at all the major joints. His head and waist, sadly, do not rotate.

Here he is with his Mace weapon.


It's actually nifty, when you place it in his hand, a peg pushes in a post (kind of like a minicon port) that unlocks the mace's feature. When you slam the bottom on the ground/floor/table, the top of the mace pops open. Very cool.

Nice pics and review man! makes me want it even more, I also didnt realise he was a voyager either which is a bonus!

but you didnt' mention that even though he has 5 eyes and a mouth, he apparently looks like shockwave (even with all that teal) or how even though he's clearly a jet, he somehow looks like an adult sex toy

But I transformed him right so he doesn't look like a penis anymore!

And he does kind of look like Shockwave....

From the pictures it seems the only thing I don't like is the back kibble.
I love the shape of his legs.

Nice review, pity that after all that speculation, the rod inside his hands is nothing at all to do with a punching gimmick.

Does his mouth open?

He looks great, really he does, but he's too damn small! Unless a Leader sized version is made ala Bulkhead, I sadly will never own him, ah well.

Why the reshoot Peaugh?

It was fine as far as I was concerned, you covered everything and kept it all nicely in shot.

I doubt that hasbro will make lugs in leader scale. With bulkhead, megs, ultra magnus already on deck, and an optimus and omega supreme hinted at, that may be all the leaders that hasbro will do for the next year. Voyager lugs probably is the only option for this character. Just ignore the size and enjoy the figure.

Nice pics and great review... I actually felt less love for lugnut because of its lack of articulation... I knew this kind of jet mode usually given with lack of articulations similar to (Cybertron Jetfire) But I don't get it why Lugnut does not even have the rotate-able neck and waist...

Mighty fine. I envy your Animated collection, and I think this is the best TF line ever. 2008 is such a good year for us fans between these and Universe.

Cool review Peaugh, hopefully they make a Leader class one of this guy in the future to match up with the larger Bulkhead. Now that would be cool.

Unfortunately I can't.

The rest of the bots I'm getting will be almost to scale, and Lugnut will just look too off for me being so much smaller.*shrugs*

Which is why there probably will be a Leader version, we'll just have to wait and see what Hasbro have to say at Botcon.

I'm crossing my fingers for it, but if not I won't lose sleep over it.

You know I don't even care if we'll get some kind of Leader Lugnut or not, that figure is just too awesome to pass.
Plus if we get Leader version I could just modify Lugnut into his cybetronian mode!

Nice! At first glance he looks like he should've been bigger. I felt the same way about Bulkhead...before i got my hands on one. Now i cant wait! The one on ebay caught my eye untill i saw shipping. Looks like i will have to wait.

looks like hes fun to transform. I was hoping for a more brightly coloured toy, like grimlock he looks a little 'faded'.

He's not quite as saturated as the cartoon, but he's more colorful than the vid makes him look.

I finally got the automorph on the weapon unstuck and working properly, I'll post a short video of it in action later this evening.

It's funny that his alt mode reminds me so much of the WW2 german Arado Ar-234 jet-bomber.

Yeah, he's got a very retro look in his bomber mode, which is why I love him so.

LUGNUT NEEDS NO NECK!

If this not a leader version I cant see geting lugnut. I want him to be to scale to leader bulkhead. I also hope if there is a leader lugnut. there will be compartents on his back that open and reveal missiles like in the show. I also hop the leader will have a light up fist gimmick, to reflect "THE PUNCH"

I just want to point out that Peaugh, who seems to have the biggest pre-release collection of any Animated fan, just used my fan-term for Lugnut's punch. That makes it official, and anytime from now on when the punch is referenced and it is NOT called the PUNCH OF KILL EVERYTHING there will be a $10 penalty fee that must be mailed to me within 30 days of offense.
