Derrick Wyatt has posted an update on his blog about the Transformers Animated Jetfire and Jetstorm two pack, commenting on the apparent lack of hands on the toys that caused quite a stir when the first pictures were revealed earlier this week. Here is what he said:
I wouldn’t rush to judgment on the Jetfire and Jetstorm figures yet. Those are some pretty terrible pictures that are out there right now. The pictures I saw way back of the grey prototypes looked really good. And yes, of course they have hands! In both robot modes! The promo pics are just mistransformed. Once they are properly transformed and posed out, they should look pretty cool.So there you have it. As has been the case with some early release official photos in the past, the toys were simply mistransformed. Does this change your opinion of the set? Sound off on our 2005 Boards!

i found out a little bit a bout goagaigar (sp?). thats great. now i really want a flying firetruck. if the name jetfire wasnt used i wouldnt be mad. i would still think the toy was massively stupid but i wouldn't have been dissapointed.
my previous posts are exactly the reaction the toy deserves. the character was totally overwhelmed by obscure characters 3 people care about.
i always thought movie starscream was more of an homage to bubo from clash of the titans than the actual starscream. thats a crap design too.

Cosmos is a flying saucer, they're not supposed to have wings. These guys look unfinished, or like someone chopped their wings off.

BBTS has the preorder listed as November, but that could easily change as their preorders dates are usually approximations as they tend to get things a month or two early when it comes to Transformers toys (and a few other toylines too). So, while they might get it in November it could be later for most birck and mortar stores.

So…when do we expect to see these two?!
Jarodimus
Word.
Cosmos is depressed, by the way. I hope all you wing-fanatics are happy. Jerks.

Hmmm. Really, with all the weird, impossible aircraft Transformers have involved, people are bothered that these two craft have no wings?
Powered flight is hardly restricted by wings at the techology level of Cybertronians, it seems.

They really need to fire whoever does the preliminary images. I've yet to see a single one done well.

I agree, but it a bit of ashame you can clearly see the legs… on the other hand… If I am honest and I take a look at my animated voyager prime I can also clearly see legs. And I reaally like voyager Prime

I don't get the obsession with the lack of wings myself. Me I keeping them with out wings out in jet mode. To me with out the wings they look like some sort of Sci-Fi/BSG type fighter craft.. If they were f18 style jets with wings off or missing I can understand. But they are space jets. Space jets don't really need wings in space.

By that reasoning, Frenzy should be an abstract state of being, not a cassette.
TF names don't always have to compliment their alt mode. Some just reference their abilities or attributes. It's not like they're Go-Bots.
Silent_Magnus
I don't think you should be posting those here…
Unless someone official said it was ok.
edit: Nevermind, I saw the thread in the animated forum.

Found these comic pics on 4chan. They look kind of cool here, and they have hands lol. Maybe someone can add these to the first post? You don't need to credit me or anything.

Bumblebee isn't a bumblebee either and I've never seen Sentinel Prime do guard duty.
Stormcrow
Blah. I hate to be the sinical guy, but it'll take a lot more than a set of hands to make these things worth my money.
There is nothing what so ever I like about the design or concept. They just look bad in every way.
Feralstorm
…like a hailstone … from a storm … GEDDIT!?!?
just guesses mostly, but I can see a few ways things could be improved, at least on the combined robot end of things. First off, the 'heels' of the feet look like they could easily double as hands, which seems to be supported by the box art. Turn the arms sideways so the feet are on the outside, and the hands are on the inside. It also looks like it may be possible to raise the shoulders up farther than shown in the photo, as well as closer to the body. That would help a bit on the gorilla proportion goin' on. (even more if the arms can be shortened without losing the elbow joint.)

i remember the bio. i had the box for 22 years. with that in mind though does jetstorm ice up and fall like a rock?
i dont care if it all refers back to something. the end result is nothing i can relate to. leader class megatron, voyager starscream, and even jazz made me think that there was a lot of potential for a great animated jetfire. according to my personal taste i was very wrong.
Poho
yeah, but their names aren't Mini-personal-Cybertronian-shuttle-fire and Mini-personal-Cybertronian-shuttle-storm.

I'm glad that we've gotten a clarification on these guys. I was worried that they wouldn't pass the same level of awesome that most of the rest of Animated has been.
Kaijumaster
while I'm still not sure I actually WANT these figures, the revalation about the hands vastly improves my opinion of them!

Guess what, It was remind me the same combination with Gaofaigar Enrun and Gongrun! Yuhoo..!!
