 | | | | | | | Transformers Animated episode commentary hints at the Omega Sentinels | | Posted on 01-06-2009 at 04:44 PM by Sol Fury | The newly released Transformers Animated Season 2 DVD set - which includes commentaries on the episodes Garbage In, Garbage Out and Mission Accomplished - provides a tantalizing hint at something that may occur in Animated Season 3 or beyond. In the commentary for Mission Accomplished, it is mentioned that the resemblance between the Elite Guard flagship and the Autobot's own ship - which transforms into Omega Supreme in the season finale - is no accident. Rather, it has been done for a specific reason that will be revealed in the future. Given that the exclusive tech spec profiles in the Transformers Collectors Club magazine, written by Marty Isenberg, already mention the Omega Sentinels, does this mean that we might be seeing the Omega Sentinels appear in Transformers Animated in the future?

In the new Animated Season 2 DVD there is audio commentary for the episode Mission Accomplished. At the end of the episode, the commentators mention that the Elite Guard flagship is similar looking to the Autobot ship that becomes Omega Supreme. They go on to mention that this is no accident and has been done for a very specific reason that will be revealed in the future. So, this begs the question... since the Elite Guard flagship is blue... could Omega Sentinel make a future appearance in animated?
shroobmaster:
Omega Sentinel(s) were mentioned in BlackOut's bio from the Club!
Anyway, about the DVD, other than "Mocking Megatron", what's the other short about?

Do both of 'em speak in the short? Oh also, what's the title so I can add it to the Wiki?

Putting Omega Sentinel in the show would be a great way to reduce cost and get as much use out of the toy mold as possible.
night-skyward:
Now i wanna see the lugnut+blitzy short, i love their strip in the arrival comics Takara_destron:
Oooh very interesting news. Quote:

RidgeRanger:
Just watched that episode on DVD. Must have Omega Sentinel! I wonder what his character will be like?
Sol Fury:
Interesting stuff. I hope this means we can see some massive epic space battles at some stage.
Paradigm-Shift Prime:
Whoo hoo! Now make a toy for them!
dark69:
i hope there in animated i love them!
thefinaldoom:
Hurry up and come spring, so i can see season 3.
Bumblethumper:
Honestly, I don't want to see them introducing characters like this unless there's a good chance of them making it to toy form.
After being teased with Omega Supreme, and getting jazzed about the toy prospects, it was a disappointment to see him turn out to be such a big weeny, short-lived and with apparently little chance of becoming a toy.
Especially with all of Hasbro's resources focused on ROTF.
Digilaut:
I think this could be right. In fact, someone else speculated about this a while back, too.
In the Rise Of Safeguard comic, Ultra Magnus mentions 'Project Omega' and how it would be too drastic to renitiate is ..I guess there were multiple Omegas made as defence units..Omega Supreme..Omega Sentinel..Omega Omega Omega..hints all over.
Retroqqq:
i need to see this sort NOW !!!
G1Wheeljack:
This possible gives Hasbro another reason to make an Omega Supreme toy, a repaint that will possible be good for troop building.
shroobmaster:
SUPREME troop building?
Okay now I think that Hasbro should make a smaller Omega.
Bahamut Prime:
That's interesting!
saberconvoy:
I kinda new this would happen.
Soundwave84:
that would be really cool!
Nerdicon:
I want an Omega SPREEM repaint. Go hot pink and neon green!

If they do try this, I'd like to see them at least do something clever and plan a remold like they did with Universe Swipe/Streaker. Any such toy is likely to be expensive, and I'd like a reason to buy it other than just a straight repaint.
Bumblethumper:
Actually, come to think of it, Omega Sentinel would probably be like the Ultra Magnus version of Omega Supreme. As in the Supreme part is basically just the cab. Autobot Burnout:
I'll be fine with just a toy of Omega Supreme thank you very much. Although the odds being that there are Sentinels makes the chances for a toy much more likley.
BraveMaximus:
I like the idea of there being an Omega Sentinel.... since Omega Supreme is for now lost in space. As long as they keep it to a minimum it will be fine..... as long as there is no conception of my autobot is bigger and powerful that your decepticon robot kind a stuff. Sort of like what happen with the combiners.
Does that make sense?
evebird:
This is fantastic news if for no other reason that it increases the possibility of Hasbro making an Animated Omega Supreme toy. They're much more likely to spend money creating a big figure if they know they can make money selling the same thing as a repaint months later.
Gadep:
HELL YES!!
i would buy omega supreme and omega sentinel in a instant...and i am not really a fan of the animated line...

However, I find the Lugnut/Blitzwing short far more interesting.

My only problem with the Omega Sentinel ship being so much bigger, is I'd been hoping all along that an Omega Supreme toy would be like, y'know, Supreme class. But if they do Omega Sentinel in that class, the Omega Supreme part would'nt be particularly big at all. Omega Charge:
Really cool. It would be awesome to have more backstory on "The Great War".

Or maybe it's just Omega Sentinel this time 'round, as I'd see Omega Supreme's style of ship being more mass-produced while the Sentinel ship style made specialy for the EG.
As for Omega Spreem, maybe he's another ship entirely and piloted by the new S3 'bots? We already know that B******t (no, not the swear word, just protected for those who don't want spolers on him) took down a few Omegas himself from the mag tech specs.
Ra88:
Weren't there rumors about the ship being Fortress Maximus?
As for the Sentinels bit from Blackout's bio: What did we see at the very beginning of the first episode? BHiga6181:
Ive been saying we will see an Omega Supreme toy since I saw the ship in the first season.
EVERY other character in the show through season 2.....except for Elita One, Ironhide and 2 of the 5 seekers has either come out or has been announced as coming out, except for Omega. Im sure we will see him closer to Winter of 09.
Ravage1976:
It would be Omega Sentinels plural they will do it like G1 Omega Supreme is the only one with a Spark the Omega Sentinels are just drones.

Ok, I guess you mean the end of the year. It'd be nice if they did such a toy, but I don't think it's all that likely.
The last few years, they've only put out one of these toys per year. In 08 it was Supreme Animated Optimus, in 07 it was Ultimate Bumblebee. Indications are that in 09 it will be Movie Devastator. They could probably release Omega in Leader class, but that wouldn't be right, damit. I reckon Animated's probably getting sidelined this year anyway. New series starts some time around spring, but ROTF stuff hits the shelves end of May. That's not much of a window.

1 - Deluxe Class versions of all the cons that transform into robots but DO NOT combine.
2 - Leader Class Devastator that has seperate vehicle modes and comine like Energon Prime, but DO NOT transform into seperate robots.
And Hasbro has said that Both Animated and ROTF will continue through all of 09. 25th/Universe is getting the axe. After Ratchet Deluxe wave and Leo Prime Voyager wave thats it.

Particle_Beam:
If the front-part of the Elite Guard ship and Omega Supreme are equally tall (seems likely, as provided by the pictures from Bumblethumper), than you have to wonder how big the Decepticon Warship of Megatron must be...
Railguard:
All things considered, that doesn't explain what happened to the Omega Sentinal from the cartoon becasue Megatron and Starscream both survived the jump which would make me beleive that Omega would as well. As for the toy, I would love to pick it up again as I love that mold!!!!

Zaraxion1021:
I don't care for the Omega Sentinels. Just as long as they bring Omega Supreme back to the show for season 3. I really hope Hasbro would make a Supreme class Omega Supreme. It would be a must have. Miss Frost:
I would love an Omega Supreme. I could care less about an Omega Sentinel.
night-skyward:
With all the references id say its highly likely that hasbro has planned a toy but are teasing us and just not confirming it. that way when they do we will all go " "

But it also wouldn't surprise me if said toy gets put on hold because of the timing with the push for ROTF. Also with the current economic situation, they may decide put more focus on smaller figures, at the expense of large expensive ones.
It wouldn't be the first time an awesome big figure doesn't make it to production.
