Fellow Animated fans, take heed! Your favorite cartoon series still lives!
This is the news all Transformers Animated fans have been waiting for: Shout! Factory has put up pre-orders for Transformers Animated: Season Three! This is of course notable for being the first time that fans will finally be able to own the illusive and much-requested third season of this fan-favorite show.
But that’s not all. Shout! also has pre-orders up for Transformers Animated: The Complete Series! This set collects all the seasons of the show – including season three.
Be sure to get your pre-orders in for these (GLORIOUS) DVD sets soon!

well, the originals were in the 1:33:1 aspect ratio (full screen) and the new set is 1:78:1, so there's that.
But yeah, other than that there isn't a huge incentive to get the full set.

I guess I just buy the season 3 set, since I already have the other two. If the full series set doesn't include anything new, there really isn't any reason to buy the full one.

Weird. I ordered mine from the SF website back in February. Maybe the Amazon exclusive thing was decided upon after that?
Not quite the same thing, but my buddy's wife published a book that was to be initially sold exclusively through Amazon and she wasn't allowed to sell copies anywhere else, including out of her own hand to a friend.

I'm not seeing the complete series boxset listed on Shout Factory's site anymore. They are going to sell it, right? Or does being Amazon exclusive mean they can't even sell their own product?

There are no shorts mentioned on the package. It just says "Bonus Features: Audio Commentaries"
I didn't listen to any of the commentaries yet.
I also haven't watched any full episodes yet, so fingers crossed that the shorts are tacked on between episodes, or maybe buried as easter eggs. I don't think Shout! usually does easter eggs in their DVDs though. :/

So they don't include any of the shorts? That's really disappointing.
Are there any new commentary tracks?

Just got mine. Man, after years of desire and fear that it would never happen it feels so good to actually be holding all three seasons of this show in one tidy little package. The set is one standard size DVD case with all six disks packed inside. On one hand it's nice to have such a slim package, but on the other hand the disks on the inner front and inner back covers obscure the lovely artwork that is on the insert, and also obscures the episode list. Not a big deal, and not a complaint by any means. I think all of the artwork on the cover insert and the disks themselves is original for the set as I don't recall seeing any of it before.
I popped a disk in to my work computer quick just to check out the layout. No animated menu screens or anything fancy (I lose patience with animated menus anyway). Has a “play all” feature which is always something I love with episodic disks. Audio and video looks and sounds excellent to me. Really just a straightforward, no nonsense set of the full series. I wish there were more special features beyond the commentary, but I’ll take what I can get and be grateful I finally have all three seasons.

Mine's scheduled to arrive on Tuesday (the release date) so I assume it'll ship USPS on fri or sat. I'm stoked though, I have only watched crappy online versions

Damn. They did. Forgot to preorder this months ago. :/
Thundershot
I got mine for $24.49 shipped via Amazon Prime, but I think they raised the price since then…
ExtremeGz
What's the cheapest place to buy this w/shipping? Anyone know?

These are shipping from Shout!Factory now. Mine's already out for delivery. Can't wait to check it out tonight!
It'll be my third time through the series, but first time through season 3 on a non-bootleg copy.
BenjaminXavier
I would assume so, since they're on the original DVDs
abe_sapien
Do we know if the complete series will contain the 3 episode movie? (Transform and Roll Out , I think)?

Ok….what about them offends your sensibilities?

I was hooked from the first trilogy of episodes, and I was someone who saw the initial artwork and cried about how awful it was. Before I was even through with the first season it was already my favorite Transformers series. Still is.
I think if TFA had started when I was in my teens and 20's I would have hated it no matter what. When I was younger I would hold on to my knee-jerk opinions like a pit bull and nothing could change my mind about anything. These days I can see things differently each time I look at them. Makes life a lot more satisfying.

To start… Prowl and Bumblebee.

What's bad about s1? I like all of animated
Jetstorm
And also got canceled way before it should have

I'd say BW is only slow for the first three episodes. Once the characters and "world" are set up, is is pretty good until most the way through season 2. (I lost interest after "Code of Hero," but admit it remained a good quality show afterward.)
Regarding Animated, it is a taste thing because of the dramatically different aesthetic. Some will love it, some won't. I loved the stories that did not have human villains (or where the human villain was only a "fill in" for five minutes). I don't know if I would willingly watch any of the episodes again that have a human villain as the primary opponent. That still leaves a lot of good episodes.
