 | | | | | | | Rumor - Transformers Animated Finished After Season 3 | | Posted on 01-26-2009 at 06:37 PM by Kickback | Over the course of the past week, TFW2005.COM has been digging and pressing our sources to find out if the rumor we received through an anonymous tip (which cites un-named sources from within Cartoon Network) was true or not - if Transformers Animated was concluding at the end of its third season.
For some of you, this would be heart-breaking news. For some of you, this would be the best news you've heard since you first saw the designs leak a couple of years back. And the third portion probably never cared in the first place, thus they do not care now.
TFW2005.COM's sources were unwilling to confirm or deny this rumor, or simply said "No comment" at all.
If this rumor pans out to be true, what was the cause behind the abrupt decision to end Transformers Animated? Was it something behind the scenes with Cartoon Network? Was it the overall state of the United States economy? Or does Hasbro have bigger, more wide-spread plans for the Transformers brand as a whole?

Torque: its too soon! we didnt get Omega Supreme or Ironhide or the Constructicons or anyone in the new season...
makes ya wonder whats next
ams:
As someone who has only just begun to really appreciate it, I find this to be disappointing news, if true.
Deceptigtar:
this sucks. hope we still get mixmaster and scrapper figures.
Kickback:
The overall feeling I have is that the people at Cartoon Network absolutely love working on Transformers Animated. And that the guys at Hasbro who work on it absolutely love working on Transformers Animated.
So if this is true, it probably came from higher up in the food chain at Hasbro.
X-Brawn:
Well, it sucks, but then again, when have we ever gotten a series that lasted longer than three seasons? That seems to be the norm for Transformers:
G1 - 3 Seasons + Rebirth
Beast Saga - 2 Beast Wars + Beast Machines (...I think...)
RID - 1 Season
Unicron Trilogy - Armada + Energon + Cybertron
Movie - Probably a Trilogy
Plus, I'd rather be left wanting more Animated as opposed to saying "It was good in the beginning, but now it kinda sucks..."
Though, I think four seasons would've been better...
SmokescreenGT:
I really hope this turns out to be false. I love Animated and can't wait for Season 3 to begin.
MekaGojira3k:
Noez Silent_Magnus:
The creative team has mentioned a few times that they treat every season like it's the last.
Could this by a misinterpretation of one of these statements?
TheNotoriousROB:
This sucks!!!!
From what I heard / read, Hasbro is planning to do something similar to G.I. Joe Resolute for Transformers.

If the future of Transformers Animated was still "being decided", I would have received some sort of comment like "Season 3 is ready to air and we're hoping to get fast at work on Season 4 as soon as we are green lighted to do so" ...
Instead I got "I can't answer that, I'm sorry" and "I can't comment on anything right now" responses.
Gotta read between the lines.
Wheeljack_Prime:
Maybe a sequel series?
Transformers Animated Deux: Thirty Cycles Later
tigermask44:
Fucking bullshit!!!!!
Die cartoon network, die!!!
SPLIT LIP:
While it would suck if Animated stopped after S3, it's not like it wasn't awesoem. BW is still awesome sauce and it only ran for three seasons.
Black Omega:
As one of the people that didn't like the designes when first revealed I can say that it makes no difference to me. I don't find this to be completely unexpected considering that Hasbro said Animated and Universe would be going on hiatus in favor of the big ROTF push. I think we still have to wait and see if Animated will continue after ROTF or if it really is done.
Silent_Magnus:
Maybe they're actually planning a feature length motion picture to ride on the coattails of the live-action movies!
Yep, this is the answer I will believe.

AlphaOmegaBlurr:
No.NONONONONONONONO! This is cannot be true. I was warming up to Animated so fast. DAMMNNN YOU KICKBACK!!! DAAMMMNNN YYOOUU!
smkspy:
Yeah, Three Seasons is alot for many cartoons. G1 and Beast Wars were all three seasons(edit: I know G1 had a technical Season 4, but it was three episodes so come on). Sucks for those that really love Animated, but I can't wait to see what comes next.
Golden Age: It will probably turn 3-D
Silent_Magnus:
Until this is confirmed to be true or false. I think I'm just going to enjoy the present, and season three when it gets here.
Who knows, maybe season three will be horrible and we'll be glad that Animated is ending.
Eric:
Well, son of a bitch. I really like Animated, and I don't want it to get shitcanned. Way to go again, Cartoon Network. deliciouspeter:
Put it in perspective...."G1" was only 4 seasons. Three seasons ain't bad for a cartoon. I hope it continues....a series with a decent plot, character development and actual drama.
MoonRacer Prime:
I think it`s the best transformers show sense G1. I hope this is just a rumor.
shroobmaster:
Real or fake, we must admit that 42 episodes IS a good lenght for cartoons nowadays, so if it ends we can be nothing but thankful that we got that far.
All I can hope is that if the rumor is true, that the next show gets a similar direction to TFA, where both sides truly love the franchise and know what everybody would like to see.

I think it is completely fair. Why should we have to watch utter crap like the new george of the jungle or that fuckwad show chowder instead of a show that has an installed fanbase, has good animation, and is written smart so that adults can enjoy it as much as kids.
I smell a petition. Lets save our goddamn show!!!!
Prime Aspect:
Does anyone have sales figures for Animated toys? In the shops that I've visited (North Carolina, Las Vegas, San Francisco) Animated toys continue to be in heavy supply while the other pegs are largely empty. This was true even after the holidays when the stores are normally picked completely clean.
While it may just be a case of shipping too much product, it may be that the Animated toys aren't selling well to the kids. That could be reason for a cancellation. I clearly don't have any hard evidence other than my personal experience, and I know that some will simply view this as a troll, but I am honestly curious.
AMG:
This would really suck. To me Animated is just getting to the meat of things. We've had one full season of build up, then the next season just starts taking off. Season 3 looks to be the start of an all out war with Autobots and Decepticons, with so many new characters and so many stories to be told. Unlike other recent TF series where season 3 feels like the final chapter on all we've seen so far, Animated on the other hand still feels like we're only mid way through the story. I hope they don't kill this saga before it's time.
ILoveDinobot:
Good less money I have to spend, if there are less toys. Maybe we will get Transtech now.
girafeswordsman:
This sucks. It really does suck.
DieMaus:
I'll be intensely disappointed if this is true. I'm not one of those that insists that my favourite series has to go on forever and ever and ever, but three seasons is a really underwhelming number for a show and creative team that clearly has plenty more mileage left in it. Those saying that three seasons is the norm for Transformers series clearly aren't looking at the numbers properly; G1 had 98 episodes and a movie over the course of its three seasons, Beast Wars had 52 (78 if you count Beast Machines), and the Unicron Trilogy had a whopping 156 episodes. With 39 regular episodes, that would make Animated just one TV movie ahead of filler series Robots in Disguise as the shortest US-airing TF series in history. In a world where Energon got 52 episodes, that just isn't right.
Really hoping this doesn't turn out to be the case. General Magnus:

How much stores in one area have isn't really all that reflective of the rest of the world.
hutchprime:
Stupid stupid stupid decision. Hasbro will likely lose my money after Animated. I'm sure someone will take my place, but this is the first Transformers line that's interested me since Beast Wars.
I just got TFA Waspinator today...great toy.
It's like Prince said, I suppose.
All good things they say, never last. And love, it isn't love, until it's passed.

I was hoping to get at LEAST 4 full seasons. I'd be disappointed after 52 eps, but it feels like it needs at least that many.

Griffin73:
The writing was just getting good. I don't particularly like the toys but I bought a few. I think it's the best Transformers cartoon since G1. The Starscream Clones, Omega Supreme, The Elite Guard, and hopefully the return of Elita-1, these were pointing to a great 3rd season and beyond. I hope this changes and the realize they have a good vehicle for the Transformers brand as a whole.
Shipley:
"You know as well as I do, Optimus Prime -- It never ends!" - Megatron
TF animated might end its run after season, 3 but Transformers isn't gone by a long shot, and the progress made with this series could translate into an even more daring and innovative show in the future.
Might Gaine:
VERY disappointing if true. Here's hoping we don't go back to half-assed dubs of anime targetted at 3-year-olds...
Silent_Magnus:
If this is true. Then Hasbro better have something REALLY awesome up there sleeve to replace Animated.
As I'm pretty sure Takaratomy isn't going to make anything.

Ravenxl7:
Eh, it's been great so far. The thought of only one more season both makes me sad, but not sad enough to actually get any bit upset about it. Yeah, it would have been cool to see this show last another two or three seasons, but oh well, it isn't the end of the world. Hopefully we'll get some good new molds from some of the Season 3 characters. Rodimus Prime is getting a toy, so hopefully Blackout and Strika get toys too. Can't wait to see what they'll come up with next. Whatever it is, I hope it has the Dinobots in it. A show centered around the Dinobots would be pure win, imo, but I just can't see it happening.
Edit: As for the idea for a petition, I think that if this is true, that the reason behind it is a good enough reason that they won't be swayed by a petition.
