Review and Images of Elite Guard Bumblebee

I received him today and am rather impressed.First off this is is a repaint of animated bumblebee but with some very unexpected improvements.

On elite guard bumblebee his eyes are now a dark blue(previously teal)and the stinger problem has been addressed and now completely fold up in his arms.

The color scheme is decent not great but he looks very good next to jazz

I would definitely recommend getting him if you don't have bee yet.The upgrades are worth it alone and if you already have bee pass unless you like the colors and are a completist.

Doesn't look that great, but yeah it's decent. Glad they fixed the stinger issue though. I'm not sure if I'll pick it up but thanks for the pics!

I really like this repaint, so I'll probably pick him up. Looks good.

I wish they'd gone ahead and painted that yellow bit on the roof in vehcile mode black. I like the Black/Gold in vehicle mode, but robot mode just looks like complete ass in those colors. The head looks even bigger in those colors, and all that yellow is jarring. Had they kept the black/gold completely in bot mode it would look a lot better. The only bonus is the fixed stinger issue, and it really wasn't that hard to fix on the original to begin with. This one's an easy pass for me.

Thats one of the gripes i have is the yellow is ugly in bot mode but i'll probably paint it black

is it just me or is bumbleebee's head really big compared to everyone else, especially in that pic with jazz?

I wasn't sure about this, but I'll probably get him to bring the Elite Guard up to 5 members with this being Bumblebee's 'brother', Goldbug, who made it in. I'll probably paint the light on his roof too.

I'm actually very impressed with the recolour. It kinda reminds me of Shattered glass Goldbug. I'll definetly be picking it up especially since the stingers are fixed.

Hate the colors, will probably pass. But its nice to know that they did indeed fix the stinger problem.

They're not in the same scale even though their toys are physically the same size. Bumblebee is supposed to be smaller than Jazz which is why his head is bigger.

I passed on the original Bumblebee because I wanted my Bumblebee smaller than everybody else so I went for the Activators version. I'm going to get this Elite Guard repaint as an upgrade to my Activators version in my own little fiction - he becomes bigger as his rank increases.

I don't really like the yellow here but I'm still sticking my decision and perhaps it'll look better in person.

Not too impressive, but I'm hoping that since his stingers seem to be fixed, this means the 3 pack Bee's will be fixed as well.

Yeah it's frickin huge! Activators BB is really nice though.

I'm warming up to it, but still think I'm going to pass. Already spending an assload on TFs this year and next, I need to cut some corners with repaints and crap molds if I'm gonna survive.
Now if it were a new character repaint I'd totally buy it, gimme Cliffjumper and I'm sold.

You know.... you could essentially take this guy, Stealth Movie BB, and Shattered Glass Goldbug, and make a complementary three-pack to the Classics/Movie/Animated Bumblebee three-pack we saw a while back. Weird.

Looks okay and I like the fact that the stinger issue has been resolved, but I'm still gonna pass on it. Need to save for other things.

Now, see, had they done that, I might've gotten it. I think I'd like to see his head gold instead of black, but that looks over 9000 times better.

My main problem with the stingers wasn't the fact that they stuck out (although that was pretty major), it's that he really should have one stinger per arm instead of two half-stingers that awkwardly combine.

Still, looks like a pretty decent repaint. More interested in how Lockdown's repaint will turn out however.

i like this alot better with the black added tamo and i was gonna get this neway just cause really do look at it as goldbug not BB but hey to each his own.

The alt mode is okay but, criminey, the colours in robot mode are horrible. It looks like a three-year-old coloured him in.

Every time I look at this repaint I see only what could have been, namely a nice nod to Goldbug. Yellower shade of gold, some black trim, blue-painted cop light... *sighs* D'ah well. More for those that like this repaint, I guess.

Hmm. I kinda like the yellow in the robot mode, but the balance of the colors is off in general, like some could've been better placed. Regardless I think it looks cooler than I initially assumed it would!

Have you seen the show? .That IS what his stingers are supposed to look like (half circle instead of full circle) The figure wasn't being cheap, it was being show acurate

If it were show-accurate, the stingers would replace his hands.

y'know, with the rest of the yellow painted over in black, he looks *boring* visually.

Looks better than the original, might have to consider getting this.

I hope that they release the normal BB's stingers later on in the regular deluxe, but knowing if they were fixed or not while in package would be a trick...

Nice! Only problem now is there is still yellow on the rims. Some gold or silver there would make it fully awesome.

Um... they do. His hands swivel back. If you mean the positioning... yeah, it's a bit off, and the wrists are too wide.

I didn't want this repaint when I first saw it, but it's been growing on me ever since. I'll definitely pick him up when I see him.

I'll be picking him up even though I already have the reg Bumblebee. I actually like his paint scheme and like the fixed stinger problem.

I like it, non show figures are sweeter. Also I hope they use this stinger modification for the later runs of regular bumblebee. (The wal mart 3 bee pack particularly.)

thats a good point, lets hope they feel the need to make extra runs. Its good that hasbro have made the effort to do this fix and could be indicative of other mould tweaks sorely needed in several animated toys (eg the clip on the back of voyager optimus right? leg, same for grimlock)

I'm using this version of Bumblebee as an all new Elite Guard character Goldbug. I've placed him under the command of Roadbuster Prime. (Ultra Magnus repaint) He will hopefully be joined soon by teammate Ricochet (from Freeway Jazz).
