Photo and Video Review of Animated Lugnut

Hey guys I just got my animated lugnut yesterday and I wanted to bring you some pics of the box. Since this is a wave 2 box there are new figures on the box, on the bottom is snarl,autobot jazz, soundwave, and oil slick. Also on the left side of the box is a pic of voyager bulkhead and grimlock, I also took some shots of the bio and instructions, check them out.

I thought he had more grey on him.

Anyway, thanks for the review D Banks. As it stands he's way too small for my taste, so if they ever get around to releasing him in a bigger size class I might get that.

Yeah, I thought he was going to be more grey as well.

yeah, it was unexpected, instead of grey he has teal parts, in the cartoon hes more grey.

Cool. Thanks for the pics. This pretty much prooves that him and Grimlock are going to be the new Voyagers for wave 3. That's good news. I'm curious as to how Grimlock's going to look in the Voyager packaging, so hopefully a boxed Grimlock shows up soon. Voyager Lugnut has convinced me to get the Voyager version of Bulkhead instead of the Leader version. It would be nice to have a Bulkhead that was in-scale with the other Autobots, but I'd rather have both a small Lugnut and small Bulkhead, instead of a small Lugnut and a large Bulkhead. That way these two can be easily posed together in a battle scene. Also on the plus side, it'll be cheaper in the long run (2 Voyagers instead of a Voyager and a Leader). I'm still curious as to why Oil Slick, a character we haven't even seen on the show yet, is being released in the 3rd wave before characters that we've already seen on the show, and will probably have more appearances than him. Oh well, as long as I'm able to get ahold of at least all the one's I really want, if not all the one's I currently plan to get, I'll be happy.

Yeah, it would, but, as it is now, I personally don't see them doing it. That and to me, 2 Voyagers is more appealing than 2 Leaders. I'd rather save $40 than have show-accurate sized toys on my shelves. If we were also getting Voyager sized toys of Earth Megs and Ultra Magnus, there's a chance I would buy them instead of the Leader class versions, though having a Megatron and Ultra Magnus that have mouths that move is really appealing (which is also why I there's a possibility I'll still get Leader Bulkhead). The one odd thing, imo, is that Bulkhead appears to be a part of the first 3 waves. Usually a TF is only a part of 2 waves, and then is phazed out for something new. Hopefully this doesn't cause any other Voyagers to be short-packed. Especially Grimlock.

Edit: Just noticed, but, this also prooves that Hasbro doesn't need to put Autobot infront of Grimlock's name, and that it was only a website thing. I'm also noticing slight differences between the photos on the packaging, and the official pictures we got from Toy Fair (usually they are the same one's used). Snarl's shoulder plates are turned around, and Jazz's nunchucks are still in their holders. Would be cool if they could be turned around to face the other direction (would make for a Rodimus kitbash from Jazz easier to accomplish).

Have they released pics of leader ultra magnus?

Unfortunetly not yet, but Botcon will hopefully yeild some kind of picture of him, even if it probably will be just a grey prototype. His hammer is going to be interesting to see transfered into toy form.

Yeah, he was anounced at Toy Fair. Hopefully Sentinel Prime and Swoop get confirmed to be getting toys at Botcon, that way we know we'll be able to get all 3 Elite Guard members and all 3 Dinobots. Sentinel will most likely get a Voyager sized toy, and Swoop will most likely get a Deluxe sized toy, imo anyways. The one gimmick we can expect from Ultra Magnus's toy will be the moving mouth and voice, and possibly the ability to use the Headmaster gimmich that Bulkhead comes with, though I personally hope that each of the Leaders (or at least each Leader that can use the gimmich) will come with a Headmaster unit. That way you don't have to have Leader Bulkhead to use the gimmick. The only down side to that would be that the people who bought 2 if not all 3 of the Leader class figures would get multiple Headmaster units (though not a down side to me, as I wouldn't mind having a back-up just in case something happened to the one, or I wanted to have more than one figure with a Headmaster head on them at the same time).

Hopefully we'll be seeing those wave three deluxes soon on ebay.
We saw voyager prime before we saw BA and Ratchet right?

Thats true, you never know whats gonna hit ebay next. Ebay doesnt go by the order of the waves. so we can expect wave 2 and 3 to be mixed in ebay.

So far it has gone in order of the waves.

After we saw everyone of wave 1, voyager opitmus starting show up.
Then Ratchet and Blackarachnia, now we're getting Lugnut and Grimlock.


Only exception would be those headless Lugnuts that were showing up early on.

Yeah , now theres a good prototype flaw. the grey is defitnally more show accurate, but I like mines.

It's unfortunate that he's all tealish, especially if this is the final version of him. And wearing pants next time you make a movie to post on the internet wouldn't be too bad either.

I think the teal is the final version since hes teal on the box art. But I hope they change it back to grey, if they do i will buy one once it is released but till now mines will do just fine.

Grey!? But that's like... so not accurate! His official art is teal and looking at the YTV commercial, he's teal too.

your right, I like the teal, but the first color lugnut on ebay was grey, but like I said the teal is most likely the final product since in the box art he is teal, check out the box,

QFT! IF they're going to make a Massive Bulkhead, Why Not a massive Lugnut. Trust me Hasbro, leader Lugnut is one TFA figure SCREAMING to get made. By the way, thanks for the vids; resisting buying these bad boys is getting near impossible. Must Resist Must Resist.

I wasnt tryin to diss you either, I said that you have an exclusive figure because I think that the final version is teal since the box art is teal, thats what I meant by "a good prototype flaw". Your version is more appealing to me, yours is cool because they wont make them like that anymore.

Personally, I think it's more show accurate, though not completely accurate. If they were to take the teal, tone it done a little, and probably make it a little darker, it would be spot on, imo. Either way, I plan on getting him. Is his eye light piped? I've been looking at some older photos of him, and it actually looks like it could be, but I can't tell.

Nope. The main eye in front seems to be translucent plastic (the side eyes are sculpted/painted on), but no light piping.

Strange thing, down here in Singapore, they're already selling the wave 1 voyagers in some toy stores. I saw Megs, SS and Bulkhead in box.

Wait a minute...while Bulkhead and Lugnut are shorter than all the other voyagers, their vehicles seem to be in scale with everyone elses!

well, sorry to say, I think this is the final product since the box art is teal too. Lets hope they change it last minute but I doubt it.

LOL, I didnt even notice that, but they always play with my transformers and I yell at them because sometimes they scratch them but fortunetly I declawed them.

It looks really cool, maybe I'll pick it up whenever it comes out.

the picture of grimlock seems to suggest that his 'orange' parts are going to be metallic like the details weve seen on the toys, ie claws, dino hands and tail, D.Banks can you confirm that from the photo?

from the overhead shot of the voyagers in alt modes its amazing how the 'tiny' bulkhead looks so big and the huge optimus looks so small!

peaughs version is more subtle but i prefer the teal as its just gives more of a visual kick to the toy. when i saw peaughs i was dissapointed at the overall dull finish so i for one am happy to see the teal verison as final. as awesome toy for sure, its got a bit of a robotech/macross look.

In box that just looks awesome, that HAS to be more appealing to kids than the movie toys on shelf (i find the movie boxes so uninspiring, theres little to no fun/character aspect to them), its such an improvement over those horrible cybertron boxes, the last box art/graphics i liked was energon.



The overall design quality of animated means that hopefully the days of truly awful TF are over (beast machines for eg) .

I dont see any metallic orange parts, except for the chest which looks orange. I see alot of yellow parts, like claws, feet, tail etc.

ah, ok. actually the boxed one seems to have the yellow/orange feet/claws/tail as the loose versions have. I feel they would have been better in the metallic gold/orange paint.
