RodimusZero:
Grimlock's Robot Mode is pretty cool but that Dino Mode UGH. <shudder>
j.a.f.o.:
Soundwave looks cool. Grimlock looks like stage dressing for some 80's hair band concert.
Ravenxl7:
Wow...that Grimlock repaint actually looks awesome. It's too bad the Voyager repaint isn't colored like that, as it would be an instant buy for me if it was. I'll definitely be getting him when he comes out. Soundwave doesn't look bad either, but I'm not sure I'll get him. I'll wait to see him in person to decide. It's at least good to know he's still on his way. Even for a straight up repaint, that has a somewhat randome color scheme, Fireblast Grimlock is epic win

Edit: I'm going to rename Fireblast Grimlock as Repugnus
mirarage:
Soundwave looks good.
Grimlock not so good.
But with a new asst announced maybe cliffy and dirge won't be too rare.
Devastattor:
Soundwave looks as I would expect him to but Grimlock... not so sure about him. That alt mode looks not so great.
Bgrngod:
Grimlock in a wacky paint scheme? Definitely a big pass on that one.

Soundwave is awesome. Looks like he might be very similar to BB in the transformation scheme, which is perfectly fine because BB kicks ass. Bought for sure.
Jason Blue Boost:
Although I like to collect all the Dinobots from different lines this one is a definite pass. It looks like there was paint spillage all over him.
honcho:
I want both. Even if Grimlock causes 120 damage.
Lucario Prime:
I love you, Honcho.

I like the new Grimlock!
0R10N P4X:
Who's in wave 1?
MekaGojira3k:
I kind of like the new color scheme on Grimlock. Dunno if I'll pick up Soundwave though.
clonemanager:
Like Soundwave 's 6packs at the torso.... this looks interesting...
SPLIT LIP:
Soundwave's pretty good for an Activator. Grimlock just has too many colours and not enough detailed paint apps.

2009 Wave 1 is the Dirge-Cliffjumper wave.
Cyber-Scream:
"Fireblast Grimlock" looks sorta like a Predacon. Cool but easy pass. And the Soundwave one looks a lot like the deluxe.
WhiteMocha:
Hmm, I actually quite like those. Grimlock's deco is crazy, but that's why I like it... so much more interesting than the reputedly-canned Golfire repaint (kinda makes me wish this deco had been done on the larger figure). Soundwave looks nice as well.... though he desperately needs some more paint apps. Might have to touch that one up a bit.

Anyway, I'll be picking up both of these. Activators are kind of a guilty pleasure, and quite fun for fiddling with.
Sureshot:
I'm going to repurpose Grimlock as G1 Tyrannitron!

>_< which I can't even find still!

Grimlock looks like the Pokemon Groudon in dino mode with those colors.
wgoodman:
I will probably pass, but any new TFA toys is a good sign that Hasbro is not bailing out on them yet.
Beastbot X:
...Okay, what the FRAG is going on with Animated already!? Activators is NOT one of the "core" size classes that's supposed to continue side-by-side with the movie...
Yaujta:
Grimlock reminds me of the Burning Godzilla Toho did for the death of Godzilla, being "lit from within." Not bad, but kinda sloppy here. Soundwave is a definite buy.

They seem to be pushing Activators, like with the Target exclusives including them. I wonder if any future 'big' releases will be Activator-scaled, possibly like a certain transforming spaceship...
SoundMaster:
Both of these are so mine.
Grimwing:
Grimlock's limbs at least remind me of g2 hooligan.

As a activator completist I'll be happy to pick these up.

My theory is that cartoon network's ability to renew the series after season 3 is on the fence.
It would explain why we haven't had a official statement yet on the lines future.

Maybe botcon. Executives could'nt care less if were frantic about the line. But Aaron Archer and company should get us out of panic.

I'm manic I'm frantic and in a panic.
Peaugh:
Definitely picking up Soundwave, definitely passing on Grimlock.
SmokescreenGT:
Grimlock looks....interesting. I'll probably get him just because he's Grimmy.
Eric:
The hell? New Animated toys popping up? What's the deal, Hasbro?

The Animated line isn't cancelled yet. I don't know why some people are surprised. Hasdro has stated a couple, if not several times, that Animated is still in production and will still be in production in 2009.

Also, technically Sopundwave is not "new", we've seen him before, but only once. He's cool either way.
Fosterlager:
Doom-Lock, is that you?
IsThatOne:
AHHAHhhhhhhhhhhhh...! KillGore Grimlock more like it, he look freaking KILLER!
Not by the multiple sprays of red..yeah...
And Soundwave is nicely pocket sized... but alt mode has a, though excusable, big gap. But the feet are angled and thats looks stable enough to stand well.
Lupis Convoy:
Grimmy looks great in bot mode.. but DANG, that dino mode looks HIDEOUS! Almost looks liek something out of the Chaos series from Jurassic Park.

Yeah, but it's supposed to be only deluxe and voyager classes. Everything else is supposed to be going away by Movie time, we haven't seen any online store listings for these toys, and they've got to be coming out within the next 2 months or so if they're going to come out.... it's like if we were suddenly treated to pics of a Leader Bulkhead repaint. Seriously.... huh?
Vangelus:
If they did up a Voyager Grimlock with an intricate magma deco I think I'd consider it, oddly enough. This looks neat, might get it for novelty value if I can find it cheap.
Digilaut:
The Grimlock one is weird..but I kind of like it! Magma/rock pattern looks groovy, although maybe not as good on his dino mode.

Soundwave is great.

Obviously the information you have is incorrect.

Maybe they don't apply uniformly to all retailers. These might be for Walgreen's, K-Mart et al.
megatronkicksas:
Yeah, I love when Hasbro waist money on a dying awsome line by making pointless repaints that no one gives a shit about. Way to go Hasbro
/sarcasm

God I hate them sometimes.

The press release did not say there would not be new Animated Activators. It just didn't say there would be. To put it another way, lack of confirmation of new Activators does not automatically preclude new Activators.

Hey now, Velocirapteryx was pretty coo- Ohhh wait, you mean the gaudy repaints! I agree.
Autovolt 127:

THIS!
trebleshot:
Overall, I love Activators line, so I'll be picking these up along with Dirge and Cliffjumper (once I find them). Soundwave's a given, and Grimmy just looks so funky, I can't resist. The mold ain't half bad either.

I was going to say that or he stole the deco from RID/Universe Bruticus.
Dinobot Nuva:
Sold on both, Grimlock is a great homage to Superlink Dinobot Magma type-
(thanks to BWTF for pics)-

BlueAngel_Bolt:
Ahh grimlock
you remind me of the aborted child heatblast from ben 10 was about to have after a drunk night with a T-rex
good show! you shall me mine

Soundwave, youre mine!!
jbarmadillo:

Bgrngod:
Where the hell is Activators Prowl? No love for the Ninja?
dark69:
