New Running Change On Transformers Animated Voyager Optimus Prime

Now shipping in the wave4 animated voyager
assortment is a running change to optimus prime.
Hasbro has added the autobot faction symbol.
It is a silver symbol with a white backround.

Huh. Crazy stuff...

I prefer it w/o the symbol, but that's just me(& I haven't seen it in robot mode yet)

Hey Hasbro, I've got an idea. Now, I know it's kinda wild, but hey, hear me out, alright? How about making the Autobot emblem red on white, instead of silver on white? Huh? Whaddayathink?

They already said they think it doesn't look as good as the silver/gold symbols.

But that messes up the THEME, man!

Cool..but not worth to buy a second one just for that..(still not a fan of the silver/gold emblems by the way).

why does this happen with Prime, of all Autobots? First in Armada, and now again in Animated...even so, I may get this one and return my old version. that sigil looks very nice.

Yeah, what ever happened to that one? I think it looks much better packaged in bot mode. Seems to fill the box up more, you know?

At first It looked like they changed the red with a deeper color, but the second pic shows it more clearly.

Well, that's rather interesting. Has anyone bought one of these new versions yet? I'd be interested to know if they've stuck the sigil on both shoulders, or if it's just on the left like in the show...

It doesn't look that bad, but I wish it where the classic Red with White outline.

it looks awwwwrite for me!

I'm glad they decided to add the symbol, but the white makes it looks silly. Anyways, I already have 2 so I won't be picking this up.

I think Hasbro is doing the gold and silver symbols (while using the red & purple in the cartoon) to help send more business toward Delta Star. Don't let it be said Hasbro doesn't care.

Yeah, but Voyager Op has been out since what? June? July? Running changes are usually put in effect quickly, and before too many of the product are made and shipped.

Honestly, I'm not surprised it's silver on white. Typical of Animated toys, and I was surprised it wasn't on him from the get-go.

IIRC, the reason Animated toys have silver or gold faction symbols (instead of red or purple) is because in the animation, none of the characters have faction symbols showing in their alt modes. By using gold and silver colors, they supposedly blend in better to the base colors. That way they could still have the faction symbols in robot mode but have them somewhat hidden in alt mode, even when the parts are visible in both modes.

Of course, that could just be the "Official" explanation. There may be a more truthful version.

Then they maybe wrong about that especially in many cases the characters have sensible logos on the show and in transformational terms the logos don't always show in vehicle mode at all any way - in which case they don't have an excuse for them being made more visible in robot mode.

I think Starscream looks blander for the lack of white backed purple logos The gold is just really dull - just look how much nicer Micron Legend Starscream supermode looks compared to Armada Thundercracker - and that's down to the logos.

They were not doing the line any favors to paint armada toys wtih underdetailed logos and to me gold and silver logos 80% of the time are also wrong headed. To make matters worse they are not even being consistant as Bumper Battlers have white backed colored logos on them anyway.

I think the backing on the logos brings out the detail of the faction logo and makes it a lot more visible and obvious (in a good way) especially on the smaller toys.

I'd rather that a Transformer toy never again had such a poorly chosen logo as Movie Incinerator's toy's Black on black logo.

Universe Galvatron's looks pretty poor as well not just as it's a silver logo with no backing - but because a smaller on on his chest would look nicer i think than one on his arm does.

I think it looks cool but its still crazy how much you guys care about thing that meen nothing.

Well, for those (like me) who pick nits, Reprolabels does have the Animation-Accurate symbols... the ultra-minimal 'Con logo, and the Autobot one with the "ears"...

aw man I put a sticker on mine cuz I never thought they would put one on....how could they miss that in teh first place..with the LEADER of the team especially.

Well, if you really wanna nit-pick, the Reprolabels Animated logos aren't really Animation-Accurate...more like "in the spirit of...". The ones on their Animated upgrades sets for Prowl, Bulkhead, etc are nice though.

Thank god.... nearly bought him yesturday (ended up getting Grimlock for my 9 year old cousin for xmas, grrr wanted him too), oh well, I cant wait for this one now!!!

Its great to see them put a symbol on the shoulder again. Although it would be even better to see him with a trailer too.

If "Silver and Gold" are the standard animated symbol colors, why does Swindle have a big ole PURPLE Con symbol on his hood?

Yea but then that means it would be more show accurate , thats the last thing hasbro wants to do.

Too late for me 'cos I already bought mine. I have to wonder how long this change will take to get some shelves in my area though as the unfactioned Voyager Prime is warming them up good-style.
As for the silver, it would look fine if it wasn't on a white background. It would match the silver stripes on his arms better. Personally though I think the excuse for not having red and purple logos is weak.

But I would just say if you have it already without the symbol like most just slap a reprolabel on there. If you buy it with the symbol and like it as is.....slap a reprolabel on there.

The silver and gold faction symbols are just terrible on these toys. I have voyager prime with the reprolabels upgrade. The Autobot symbol is red w/white outline and looks much better than this running change IMHO.
