RobotoChan:
Crikey, I didn't realise they both looked so... similar.
Maybe its a Superman/Clark Kent thing, you know. They both look the same and you would obviously know that they were the same character if it wasn't for those glasses.
Longarm needs think rimmed glasses... The autobots aren't that stupid are they?

Longarm needs think rimmed glasses... The autobots aren't that stupid are they? | First of all, don't base any final judgments on these pics. For whatever reason, NONE of these pics being thrown around the past couple of days show Longarm/Shockwave properly transformed. The bot modes are actually quite a bit different than what we've been seeing.
As for the whole 'Autobots being stupid thing'...
Even though Shockwave IS a double-agent, from what I can tell thus far, his Decepticon form isn't even known to the Autobots. IE: they probably don't know someone named Shockwave even exists, let alone ever see him running around in Con territory in his true form. I don't think it's one of these 'Autobot by day / Decepticon by night' templates that superheroes follow. I imagine that once/if he ever reveals his true identity to the Autobots, it'll be in a similar fashion to how he did it with Bumblebee by *showing* his Autobot to Decepticon transformation, probably knowing full well that they'd figure it out anyway if they ever saw him in Con form.
That's my theory anyway evil ivotron:
what, i can't wait. wow. Shockwave has joined the elite group of double spies.
Takara_destron:
The more I see of this figure the harder the wait gets.

<snip>
That's my theory anyway | Its a good theory
And just to put the record straight, I am not bashing this figure, in fact I will be getting at least two of my own when they hit retail
I was just joking about the whole premise of double agents/alter egos that look so similar to one another. If not many Autobots were aware of his Shockwave personality then it would be just as good to have him be a regular Transformer. He could have infiltrated the Autobots just as easily as himself if nobody knew who he was. Of course, if they were aware of Shockwave as a Decepticon, then his disguise becomes necessary.
A part of me if thinking the whole Longarm/Shockwave thing was just a way of concealing the character for a while so that the big reveal near the end of season 2 had some shock factor to it. Seeing the one eyed freak walking amoungst the Autobots just wouldn't have worked would it?
Anyway, looks like a great figrue and I can't wait to get him myself.
timshinn73:
The bot modes look great.
The alt modes look lame.

Weekend Gamer:
These are the correct transformations (Longarm with corrected shoulders): Ezilla82:
He kinda has that Counterpunch/Punch vibe to him, but that is a little bit overrated as far as the figure itself is pretty cool the alt modes are a pretty much the same, but alter some parts though and the same thing goes to the robot mode as well.
Draven:
I think he looks great. Can't wait to get my hands on him (probably twice)!
Railguard:
Well he looks cool, I'll have to wait to see it in person.
Weekend Gamer:
Hey, i just noticed something cool. The turret has flip out cannons:
EDIT: Oh, he left them out in Longarms alt. Guess thats another drink.
G1Wheeljack:
These pics make me want this so much more.
Infosaur:
As cool as the Animated line is, after buying Cybertron Megs I'm a lot less enthusiastic on Animated Cybertron mode toys.
One of the biggest weakness of the line is a sense of scale for the vehicles. (Bulkhead's "mail slot" windows are fun for animation but are kinda unrealistic for a driver.)
But Cybertron mode vehicles look a LOT like "robot mode lying down" And for those who haven't got him yet be warned, Cybertron Megs only barely looks like a spaceship from ONE angle. every other angle he looks like,,, well nothing.
I hope this improves with later models. But right now the only cool thing about Shockwave for me is his Punch/Counterpunch nod.
microclone:
the alt modes remind me of perceptor tank mode.
Ravenxl7:
He's looking good. A little mistransformed, but good. Longarm's alt-mode still reminds me of a tortoise (might have to make a sig now). While the Cybertronian alt-modes do somewhat look like the bot-mode lying down, I personally don't have a problem with them, as they do make great alt-modes anyways.
Fosterlager:
I'm very much looking forward to Shocky. I don't even mind he's not purple!
Caterwaul:
I like that they're trying to give him two seperate alt modes there, one for each side...but the vehicle modes are just...weak. I DO like how Shockwave's gun barrel resembles his old G1 pistol mode barrel. Quote:

That's my theory anyway | I'd chalk it up to 'cosmetic surgery' myself. I suspect at one point there WAS a Longarm and his 'Shockwave' form is the result of his 'disguise' mode being physically modified to look like that. I think of it as the robotic equivalent of their vehicle modes physically changing shape when they reconfigure them for a new setting.
knook:
Longarm's legs are transformed incorrectly: Paradigm-Shift Prime:
I still think he's only so-so looking.
Chaos Prime:
Shockwave is looking pretty cool. Though I'm not a huge fan of his colors.
Anti Spark:
Knook! Nice catch!
I was wondering about that.
I wonder if these lose ones are missing paint applications?
mordecai6:
What I find amazing is the ingenuity behind this toy. Given that he is one of my favorite G1 characters(see the sig) I'm excited to have an interesting depiction of him. That being said, I find it odd that we have yet to see any wreck-gar!!!
Brave Magnus:
Damn! More i see it, more i want one.
GAUGE0001:
I'm sure sombody will hopefully figure out a Space Cannon Mode for Shockwave which reminds me where is his Trademark Cannon Arm?
Still though this is a cool Toy.
The color scheme reminds me of The old Radioshack Version of Shockwave.

Its funny as hell how every pic is at like an angle.

I'm almost sure he'll join my top 10.

Looks a lot like the concept that might have been Trans-tech Megatron.
Might make an interesting kit-bash
I don't remember the board member who posted the links to the trans-tech concept work, as he deserves the credit. (lost the link, and don't want to fish through the thread on the corvette concept car images)
After looking at the designs IMO it looks like hasbro was trying to re-use some of the old work.
As was mentioned before, The new movie corvette concept bot has a lot of similarities (in bot mode) to the designs for trans-tech Cheetor.
Looking back at the sketches, Movie Frenzy bears some resemblance to the concept work for trans-tech Shockwave, and Movie Starscream looks like he was inspired by trans-tech Silverbolt.

I'm just glad someone is using the awesome Transtech designs for something.

Hence the "antlers".
Although Armada Megatron might have slightly been based on Transtech Megatron for all I know.
Another possibility is that Shockwave is borrowing from both.
Dremare:
Shockwave/Longarm is going to kick ass so much when he comes out!

However...
looked in my browser history and found the link. BEHIND THE TOYS - Spotlight: Transformers
specificly look here, for the post from Primus_feather BEHIND THE TOYS - Transtech Megatron Destroyer Tank Concept Drawings
When I first saw these my thought was knowing Bay wanted a different more alien look, some Hasbro rep handed over some of these unused style sheets for reference.
Animated Shockwave was an added suprise
shroobmaster:
If there's a way to leave the Decept symbol in Longarm mode, I'll have my Animated Transtech Megs.
Eric:
Shockwave looks badass as usual. Can't wait for this guy!
JCz28:
Even though Shockwave isn't transform right he still looks so good. Longarm looks good too but I'll keep him as Shockwave for most of the time.
shroobmaster:
Well so I guess I'm the only one that likes the Longarm mode better?

IIRC, TFA Shockwave is a partial homage to Armada Megatron ... who used some "concepts" from Trans-tech Megatron, so he's a homage to both Megs.

Shockwave is looking great with this photo set!
I love the Doubledealer concept.
