Nah I think it's more along the lines of "Hey lets keep this awesome pose on the front, but still have the figure visible." Anybody else feel the same?

I think it's that big possibly so it can fit any fig that big in the future possibly as a "just in case" scenario.

Otherwise.. maybe they could have shaved off 50 cents using a smaller box
