First Image of Colored Animated Grimlock Toy grim
A poster on the Actoys.net message boards has revealed the first colored photo of the Animated Autobot Grimlock toy. The photo, as seen in the Actoys.net link and the image to the left, features Grimlock in his T-Rex dinosaur mode and shows the sword he can hold while in robot mode. Unfortunately, no pictures of his robot mode were provided. The release date time frame for the Animated Grimlock toy is currently unknown.

Draven:
Oh, he looks SO damn nice.
Predaking:
Grimlock is the animated toy besides Blitzwing that I see myself owning two of. Those animated toys are just so show accurate it's incredibly hard not to buy them.
Deceptichage:
    Aah! With a flaming sword.
llamatron:
    Mirrored for happiness:

Loving that sword. Looking at the handle perhaps there's a hand based light up gimmick?
Peaugh:
    WANT!

Possible, but none of the other Voyagers have had electronics. I'm guessing that's how the sword tabs into his hand in robot mode, and they didn't paint it since it would just scrape off.
KA:
    ITS CHINASAURUS REX!

    wants.
joopsta:
    Damn, that Grimlock looks nice!!!
Sso02V:
hooray for color picture, boo for boring pose and no robot mode. c'mon, open that bad boy's mouth and let 'im roar!

Actually, looking at the proto, I can practically guarantee that's the case:

Also, it looks like a couple more ridges near the tip of the sword will be painted in final versions.
a person:
These Animated figures are awesome. Not one figure has disappointed me so far, and Grimlock is no exception.

I'm almost tempted to buy these..
RodimusMark:
oh gosh, I need grimmy now!!!! Just look at that, now we need a leader sized!!!!
Dark_Convoy:
Wow... he's almost a direct update of the G1 version.
panzerjedi:
    panzerjedi like.
karamazov80:
I'm not too keen on that under-bite, but I like it enough to buy it (if I can get a hold of one of these in the stores )
KING KONVOY:
I'm purchasing multiples. I love Griimlock and I'm thankful that character is getting great molds. I hope he is MP-07.
Socialvegetable:
Holy slag, that's beautiful! His transformation is a definite throwback to G1, but if it ain't broke... My only complaint (and it feels like a nit-pick since it keeps with the G1 design) is how his robot mode feet aren't hidden in his alt mode, and they don't really mesh. The dinobots are the only bots I tend to keep in their alt modes, but for the animated releases, I think I want 2 of each mode for display purposes.

Also, I guess the sword doesn't stow anywhere in dino mode.
Methos:
Is any else reminded of the Godzilla movie head here?
Scourge_151:
    NEED!!

My best guess is that it clips somewhere on his back, Dino Riders-style. Kinda like Classics Grimlock's gun.
Nightrain:
That one can chew up and spit out the classics one.
SpeedBreaker:
Nice, apart from the robot mode head.
Locustreign:
I have just had an excited moment in my pants, and it's not even 9am!!!

QFT, it's like Classics and Energon Grimmy never even existed!

The sword is pretty massive, I guess it doesn't hide in alt mode after all, which would make Grimlock and the other dinos the first and so far only animated toys with loose parts. But frankly, it looks so good I don't care.

Oh yes, the looks, the colours are not good, not fantastic, they are simply amazing, it looks exactly like he does in the show, every detail is there.

I hope the rest of the toys will be this good.

Edit: Does it look to anyone else as though he has a multi jointed tail?
I know it folds down the side of of his legs to transform but I wonder if it's even a little articulated in dino mode also.
Sledgehammer:
Wanted him ever since the proto shot appeared - this just nails it.

And the thought of a Leader-class Grimlock - sold!
TCracker:
Ah...shit....crap...I need that, since most of my TFs especially my Classics Grimmy got stolen (along with other toy loots) in a break-in my house days ago.

Hasbro, after seeing this I can definitely forgive you for the crappy Grimlock versions from Energon and the recent Classics line. As long as the Animated line continues with both a great show and even BETTER toys Hasbro will definitely succeed in making Transformers popular again. But, they need to get Animated onto one of the main networks children watch and OFF of cable if possible.

As for the sword, I'm thinking it can either connect inside of the mouth for the fire breathing look (hence the appearance of the sword) or maybe his tail so he looks like a dino with fiery farts.
Ravenxl7:
Definetley looks awesome. Here's hoping for a bot-mode shot to surface soon. While I do think he tops every single Grimlock toy before it, I still really like Classics Grimlock. Here's also hoping for a Swoop prototype to show up soon too.
Archatron:
    MINE!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking about this after looking at the Grimlock pics posted here and I realised that by showing that prototype slide show at the cons last summer Hasbro has actually managed to stay ahead of the test shot leaks all year long.
The only exception to this was the two pack figures (which they'd told us about anyway) and Jazz/Oilslick/Leaders/Activatots etc (which Hasbro debuted themselves) but other then that, we are still waiting to see some figures on ebay that Hasbro showed us almost a year ago.

So massive Kudos to them and I hope that they can repeat that feat at this year's cons and show us a whole new raft of prototype figures that we'll still be itching to see this time next year.
Feralstorm:
    Full-on ACCEPTABLE!!

..and a mild snicker at the steamshovel jaws in BOTH modes.
Ktulu:
    Very very very nice
godsenddeath:
    *Covet*
alex_kingdom:
Looks like hes made of pure win to me. Very very nice looking figure, shame the sword doesn't stole away within the figures somewhere but I guess if it did it wouldn't be so awesomely huge!

    Yours AK
Twin Twist:
I will fap furiously to this fantastic looking figure.
aksmth:
Animated just continues the streak of stuff I'm going to have to buy.
SilverDragon:
Suddenly, I'm glad I didn't end up buying the Classic figure. THIS THING LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! I don't really mind the lack of weapon storage, though.

The only problem I have with the figure is that it will ALWAYS be sold out!
Locke:
Easily my favorite so far. Well done Hasbro.
General Magnus:
    WANT!!!!
hutchprime:
Excellent stuff there. Cannot wait for a fully painted bot mode pic. Also can't wait until I can hold him in my mitts. Hope he makes it out with the second wave in August (UGH AUGUST!!?!)....

Grimlock is probaly 3rd wave along with Lugnut, I'm just basing this in terms of what we see on ebay and what's also on there at the same time.

I.e. all of the wave 1 stuff had been on there for months then Voyager prime, BA and Ratchet all show up within a short time span so they're wave two.
Now we're just starting to see Lugnut, Grimlock and pretty soon Soundwave and probably Snarl so they'll all be wave 3.

As for when it's out, Oct would be my estimate.
Xython:
Absolutely Fan-Tas-Tic! Makes me wish there was a T.A.R.D.I.S. that I could hop in to and buy him he he
Gordon_4:
    SOLD. I want him.
SarahMobius:
    ZOMG GRIMLOCK.
Yeah he looks HOT (pun partially intended). Love the sword, and Grim looks ready to pounce there.
grock35:
That is a wonderful pic...I see myself spending more money that I wanted to for Animated...with every toy pic that comes out
Optimus747:
Wow, that looks like he popped right outta the TV. That's a really good alt. mode, and the sword is wicked, though I wonder if it can be stored anywhere when he's in t-rex mode.
Storm:
    G1 Transformation FTW!
Smkscrn GT:
Me, Grimlock want this! Me, Grimlock want this NOW!!!

On a side note, I really hope Grimlock will be available this summer with the rest of Animated. If I have to wait until the Fall, I will be upset.
SPLIT LIP:
    WANT WANT WANT!!!!

    Please.
