Amazon.com has revealed the cover to the Transformers Animated: How to Draw Book. The 32-page book offers guides on how to draw your favorite Animated characters as is due out on May 6th. Transformers Animated: How to Draw is writen by Sadie Chesterfield and illustrated by Carlo Loraso.

Blimey, it looks like it's actually a pretty decent how-to book, judging by the process on the cover - as opposed to those "here's how to draw this picture of Prime", there appears to be an actual 'formula', rather than steps to copy.

Consider it bought by me...Even though I never really buy these kind of books but I would love some good ref images and seeing the skeleton structure helps with getting a clearer image in my head...

I'll check it out. The last TF "how to draw" book came with "tracing paper" inserts and said "trace Prime's manboobs"

Even if you don't like the style, the cover appears to show the fundamentals of good character drawing.

I think one of the reason kids like animated is ebcause they feel they CAN draw it. I was drawing G1 all the time to make it look like the show. You can't quite do that with cellshading or 3D. being able to draw close to the show quality gives a connection to many kids.

i was thinking that too ~ there's nothing wrong with drawing stylized (Samurai Jack and BAtman:TAS come to mind), but it's really important to learn the fundamentals of form and anatomy first.

I definitely hope so. I could see myself buying this, more for reference than the tutorial. It would be really nice, if not expected, to have some good turnaround models for each character.

For whatever reasons, both my pieces for the Botcon art show both involve the Animated style (mixed with other stuff)
