 | | | Buyer Beware: Transformers Animated Toys Now Being Knocked-Off | | Posted on 05-25-2008 at 11:11 PM by Cataclizm1 | | Knock-offs of Transformers Animated toys have started showing up on Ebay. Seller genzhao14 has posted an auction for a knock-off of Animated Voyager Optimus Prime. Please remember to use caution when making Transformer related purchases on Ebay, to make sure you're getting the official toy, and not a knock-off! DJW107PRIME:
Cool face plate, it's diffrent. But I think I'll wait for the real deal.
GenZhao:
How do I become a member of the unofficial tfw20005 pre-release animated crack club?
rob_charb:
If I'm not mistaken, the guy who sold that KO Prime also has a KO Predaking up as well, which is quite ironic as I ran across the exact same KO of the bull that makes the leg from his set in a store today.
Anyway, that Prime does look quite shabby. But still, I can understand someone wanting to buy it for curiousity. I almost picked up the KO of that Predaking leg part today because I was curious about it.
Still, it is pretty damn sad that we're seeing KO's released before the actual toyline...
Johnator:
It is ugly, gaudy, and weird-looking. Wait a second....Are we sure it is a knock-off?

Just to let everyone know, all the KO I have are clearly marked as KO's and anything that is not marked as a KO in the description is the authentic real thing. (I dont try to pass off any Rodimus ALT KO's as the real thing).
If there are recent Chinese KO's that you are interested in just let me know and I can probably get them for you...
Might get some more real Animated figs soon...
| Interesting. Might be a cheap way to amass the Starscream clones seen in the cartoon.
Will the KOs be the same size as the actual figures? An oversized Lugnut might come in handy.

Nachtsider:
An upsized Lugnut isn't any good if the plastic flakes, the paint job is lousy, the limbs are loose and come off on you, the parts suffer from Gold Plastic Syndrome or equivalent, etcetera...
Bumblethumper:
Oh you can say that about any KO.
If you just want something to sit on a shelf next to voyager Blitzwing, and look proportionally correct, you could probably live with that level of quality control.

The next step is to find the Animated Crack tfw2005 social club (look for the social club section on the right hand side of the TFW homepage) and join the club.

Grrr ... how i just hate knock offs ...

And really, a lot of KO's aren't that bad. The plastic is usually more brittle, but still entirely "playable". Plastic flaking, arms falling off, gold plastic syndrome... hmmm sounds almost like some authentic Hasbro TF's!
The off-scale figures tend to be my favourites. I have an oversize RM Rijie, Wrecker Hook and Victory Saber that absolutely rule, a double sized RM Optimus, a KO Cybertron Starscream (voyager), a desert cammo Energon Bulkhead, and an upsized purple Energon Sharkticon, and they're great fun to pose and play with. The colours are great, and they look pretty good in general... some of them I even prefer to the originals!
So I say, bring 'em on!
