Animated Season Three: Confirmed by YTV?

As part of Corus Entertainment's Fall 2008 programming roundup for their children's television division they announced (among the fundamental death of anime on Canadian TV) Transformers Animated would be returning this fall with new episodes:

The last paragraph for the YTV highlights in their "returning shows with new episode ... Spongebob, Transformers Animated, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX". Since YTV aired all of Season One and Two, you kind of have to think this is season three.

When you say "Fundamental Death of Anime", are you referring to the stuff that barely passes for anime out of Japan, or the late-night anime programming?

It doesn't even mention YTV's late-night programming, and IIRC that's when they air a lot of the good stuff.

Unless Corus is planning on spinning off an Anime network... it worked for Teletoon Retro.

And BTW- YTV proposed for a channel called "The Anime Channel" years ago, but hasn't done anything other then get the CRTC's approval last year. Besides if that happens it's still the death of Anime on Canadian TV. Only people who are going to watch a specialty anime channel, are going to be anime fans, therefore not bringing anyone new into the fandom.

Still doesn't mean that CN will pick it up. Does it? I always figured we'd get Season 3 somehow. I hope for CN, but at the very least I expected a straight to DVD if all other avenues failed. But yay for getting a good feeling off tis news.

Well I always thought it was one of these "lies to keep you guys hopeful."

CN will air it if they've already ponied up the money to make it. Just probably won't air till mid winter early spring, so don't expect them to start touting it till the fall. Looks like an instance of YTV wanting it sooner than that, so they expedited the process for canada similiar to what happened to other TF shows that aired in canada before the US season-wise. Another network could have thrown oodles of cash at CN and Hasbro, but I doubt it. Probably just part of the global exposure that's been going on. And YTV itching to air it sooner than the others.

I seriously don't see what you people see in this series, all of the G1 Transformers are turning over in their grave right now.... Maybe one day TF will be a lil more mature again (that means basically anything including all past series) and a lil less squiggle-bots and bloated-cons

This is too crazy to be true at the moment. I mean they would have announced something like this if it was coming so soon. Now I'm not saying I don't think they will make or possibly have already made a season 3 cuz I feel it is inevitable at this point. It's just wierd to hear about it this way

I'm still baffled at how they blew their whole wad on both seasons 1 and 2 in weekly new after new episodes (give or take an off week or 2). Both seasons done in as many weeks as episodes they made!

Mkay I'll accept that line, but I won't accept characters like ultra magnus or sentinal prime of a supposed elite squad acting like complete retards most of the time in the episodic plot, and there are more than just the 2 of them. All in all the show itself isn't really that bad, its the artstyle and toys that I'm surprised so many people like. It seems you either love it or hate it. I for one, who like transformers for many reasons including their mechanical designs, for which they were founded on, really shun this style as it shows no mechanical prowess at all and just blubber animation which is continued on to the toy line.

Edit: Also, any Prime with a MOUTH, save the movie prime, is not transformers to me. He looks retarded in this series, like the old Animated Superman form the 90's with the HUGE chest and tiny limbs lol Though I bet most of you beast wars lovers are having joygasms with the designs as they seem to stem from teh series that was meant to follow beast machines.

Seems like things were on the slow side wondering what there was to look forward to and then BAM word that Animated might have new episodes in the not so distant future.

With the little teasers about what we might get in season three I'll be glad to see it back and the chance to see what else there is to the characters they haven't gotten around to revealing yet.

Er yeah, hopefully you'll get your way and we can trudge our way through another Cybertron-esque 52 part series with stiff, repetitive animation and inexplicably drawn out, boring storylines with the added bonus of phoned in dubbing. Woohoo!

I can only assume from this statement that you do not own and have not actually played with any animated toys. I have, and I reckon they are amongst the most mechanically ingenious TFs ever - incredibly show accurate and hardly any kibble. They absolutely destroy the movie toys in that respect.

Oh yeah, and no one knows either way if Unicron will show up in Animated. Nothing about him has been mentioned by official sources.

It is a shame really. I was hoping this terrible-looking, non-robot model Transformer show was over. Ah well I guess I will go back to waiting for this to end so we can get a cool-looking Transformer show. Congrats to those who like it and I am sure there will be some decent stories.

I dunno, I don't think I'll ever see a relevant, original story line, great artwork, original character, great plots, type of TF cartoon or cg show ever again. They seem to only be interested in making shows for kids with silly cartooning, silly characters or even silly abilities were they have to shout out what they do before they do it. I will never see the kind of TF show that I have been waiting for so I'll have to just settle for whatever the "Terrible, non-robot TF's shows" that they keep putting out. I agree with you, what a shame.

Cool, good to finally see some kind of confirmation that new stuff is coming and not before too long either.

Personally I'd like something more along the lines of how Armada was produced with less transforming sequences and just showing them quick like G1 and even animated does.

As for the toys, are you crazy? They look like Playschool or duplo toys. Compare them to even the Universe 2.0 classics out right now. I'm not talking transformation intricate, I'm talking they don't look like robots, they look like playschool crayons that turn into cars. There is no detail at all. And yes I did actually buy 2, and I brought them back, I had leader Megatron and Starscream. Heck even their armada counterparts had more detail adn they actually looked like robots.

Na seriously though I'm really not trying to start anything just voicing my opinion. I guess I haven't really seen a good thread about why everyone is so bonkers over Animated. To each his own, I'm just really surprsied that with toylines like RID, Cybertron, and yes even Energon that people think the current toyline is even close to normal quality. The show itself really isn't horrible but I really think the art style doesn't even come close to giving intracate robots justice. I guess its a trade off this time for a some what decent story, still has some problems though that should have been ironed out.
