Animated Season Three Character Death and Series Finale Confirmed

Our own S250 has confirmed from his sources that Animated will end after season three, as a lot of plot connects to the planned season four have been deleted from episode scripts. This confirms our January report here that the series was rumored to end after season three, but doesn't clarify the reasoning for the cancellation.

S250 also names the character that will die during the course of the season, that was mentioned on the season two DVD commentary of "Garbage In, Garbage Out," but I won't spoil that here on the front page. If you want to be spoiled, hit discuss below.

Deadpool.
Sucks to hear that.

Problem is, how will the new series be? And how will the fans react again? It's probably gonna cause such a huge range of reactions again.
Baccala1976
I think this is the right move. This series can start getting old and boring after season 3 the way it did with G1 in the Untited States.
Ravenxl7
Eh, it was always going to end eventually. Prowl sacrificing himself to save Prime sounds a little odd at first, but I can see that happening. It'll be interesting to see how they wrap it up at the end, and to see what they'll come up with next. We'll need more than just Universe for that time period between RotF and the next movie. Especially if Bay takes that year long break he mentioned.
llamatron
Prowl dies?
AMG
Now we know for sure who dies in season 3.

Really sucks that this is the end of Animated.
Dom
Oh god, they are going to do a movie toon, not even a next gen animated. This licks nutsack
Quantum
Too bad, lots of wasted potential for the show. At least we're getting the third season though. Better than only two!
Takara_destron
Oh no Prowl
Sucks about the cancellation, but atleast it'll never have the chance to get stale I guess.
Yaujta
Very disappointing news. Disappointing and discouraging.
How is TF:A ending when the A/E/C series lasted so long? Makes no sense to me.
Hopefully what comes next will have the same writing quality. I don't think I can stomach another 'Unicron trilogy'.
PopCulturePooka
Fuck that. Not another reboot.

I just can't be bothered anymore.
aprim
Later Animated! It was Fun!
Bring on some Classic or Universe cartoon!
Deadpool.

Who can?

Seriously, Season 1 of TFA > A+E+C.

I completely agree. After Animated being SO damn good (IMO) the next series/toyline is going to have to be stunningly good to keep my attention; if it turns out to be just movie stuff, I'll ditch it & go back to filling gaps in older lines I prefer.
GenZhao
that sucks, they did not make enough episodes

each season was wayyy to short
Thundercrackah
Oh well, I enjoyed Animated's run, and I look forward to season 3, but I'm also very interested to see what comes next.
Prowl
I know it won't happen, but straight to DVD Animated movies would be cool (ala DCs material after Justice League Unlimited went under.)

So does anyone know if this cancellation was a result of low ratings, poor toy sales, or just the need to change gears?

This.

I love the movie, but I don't want Animated to end so soon. I know it has to end some time, but I would've loved two more seasons.
Robogeek28
Wow, I thought Animated was doing so well.

I agree with both of these posts. I hate to hear that the storyline bridges between season 3 and 4 are being deleted. I too love the movie but, it's not too often that we get a TF cartoon as great as Animated.

Animated took aspects from G1 and Beast Wars and added some of it's own originality to the mix as well. It doesn't feel like a true three season show because seasons one and two were crammed together and felt like only one big season.

It's a shame and a tragedy to see a Transformers cartoon this damn good end so soon. I would've preferred to see one or two more seasons beyond season 3.

In TF:A, we've seen some of the best animation (I was one of the few who liked it.), storylines, and toys since G1 and Beast Wars....it was written and animated by people who loved the Transformers Universe themselves and it clearly showed. I HATE that they're ending it so soon.
Trailbreaker77
I would just like a G1 colored Prowl before the toy line stops.
DieMaus
To me, it's the part about the deleted storylinks to Season Four that are most painful, because it clearly demonstrates that the creative team still had a bunch of plots and ideas mapped out and still to come. Nobody wants to see a series drone on and run itself into the ground, but Animated quite clearly wasn't anywhere near that point yet...
MasterPrime
Prowl!! No!!!! I really hate this he is of my favorite from Animated! Why don't they kill Bumblebee? I guess its cause no one would miss him after 1 or 2 episodes unless you count Sari.

This. I almost wish that they had kept some connections just in case someone ever decides to continue it.

All I'm going to say is, if Animated ends, if the next show is another crappy japanese anime, where every robot shows no character, and announces every move like -

Optimus Prime super link hyper Left beam unison jet mode.

Left Laser

Right Laser

Transform

Then it will never get my attention like crappy RID, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.

I never really liked G1, nor did I ever watch BW, or BM, it was the movie that got me into TF, and I only like the Movie series, Animated, and the Universe figures based on G1 toys. Should all three of those end, so does any care I have for TF.

Animated was very stylized. Reminded me of charactures of G1, which I liked. They toys were awesome and accurate. Not Duplo blocks thrown together to transform from robot to vehicle. Animated had a lot of style.

Should Animated end, another US company should do the next TF series. G1 was better then the Japanese crap, so was Animated. That's saying a lot from someone who saw G1 as a very flawed show.

Guess only time will tell. Guess this means after Samurai Prowl, Waspinator, Sunstorm (guess we will never see a Ramjet and Thundercracker Voyager class figure,) Shockwave, and any new characters they make based on season 3, I am done with TF in some form. Now if Universe G1 toys have ended, I am done with TF, and that only leaves the movie toys, how many of those I will get, depends on how long the movie series runs.

I just know that I don't want to see the Power Ranger Transformers anymore (ie Japanese localized TF cartoons where they announce every move like a Power Ranger.)
AnimatedFan
If this is true (not doubting you s250) then I'm quite bewildered.
I haven't fallen in love with Transformers like this in quite some time. The last time I felt this way was back in '84 when my first TF was Optimus Prime.

It lost that "wow" factor throughout the years, for me. Oh sure, some figures were absolutely incredible. Beast Wars surely helped rekindle my love for TFs (because G2 was just a kick in the nuts. Got our hopes up and then the rug was pulled out from under us.) and the same for CRTF 2000, A/E/C, and the Movie, but nothing...had that magic like Animated.

I enjoy the show, I love the toys, I...feel like I'm about to lose a good friend. And it stings, you know? It really does.

It feels like I invested long term dough, into something that was guaranteed to crash and burn and leave me with a hole in my pocket and I just have to suck it up and deal.

It's not fair. Hasbro mishandled the whole thing. Cartoon Network just pisses me off. They'll renew bull like Tim & Eric (which is unfunny crap), and Xavier (whatever the hell he is...) both of which are pointless and have no plot or entertaining factor. But this? A quality show that people of all ages can enjoy? Why?

I'm willing to buy the comics just to keep the story going. That's how much I love Animated, and I *HATE* Comics. With a passion.

I'm just hoping that Animated sees a toyline revival through Universe when this is all said and done. I realize the line's not over yet (for which I am grateful.) but they could give us the figures we want, at the very least.

And it's pure bullcrap about not giving us a Sari figure when we're getting a Sam with Bumblebee this summer.

I realize that Hasbro has a budget, I do, but they're not entirely on the up and up with their statements. Just come right out and tell us "Look, we're concerned for the movie toys only. F*ck off on everything else."
Dinobot Nuva
So many lines have ended over the past few years, I'm not surprised. I'll enjoy it while its still around, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over its loss, I'll gladly welcome more movie toys in its wake.
honcho
Aww, figures.

I shall savor every episode when season 3 airs.
Blitz.
cool well it sound like their going to have a proper ending and not drag it on
BraveMax
Bigger Q for me is... Why are they ending it? All indications pointed to it being pretty successful with kids. Why end a good thing?
General Tekno
.

I guess we'll find out for sure come the 14th.

On the bright side, this means that there isn't as much for me to buy.
Nachtsider
That sucks - Prowl's my favorite among Optimus' crew (which is really saying something, considering I'm a 'Con supporter). Oh well... at least he lived to a warrior ans died to an hero.
Wheeljack_Prime
suckfest. I was hoping for a sequel series if not a season 4...
Slimaximus
I'll wait til I hear the news from the mouth of the hasbro or toon team until then I'm reserving this and taking it with salt 3 short season and cancel what has been the best series since BW is just plain retarded. Not to mention if they do a movie based cartoon that will be terrible, the movie belongs in one place a Movie theatre or my dvd player not as a cartoon the designs don't translate well to ink at all.

This may be something for someone to ask at botcon if Hasbro is there or in the next online Hasbro Q & A.
Caine
Screw this.

This is the worst news..
Elvin Pena
I'd hate to see Animated go. For the first time in a long time I haven't been this glued to a TF series to the point where I make sure I don't miss a single episode. Animated set the bar pretty high. Hopefully what follows retains the same high quality and attention to detail.

Yeah I even had my TiVo set to record TF:A every week. It was the one and only cartoon that had my interest.
General Tekno
You know, it's possible we could get a sequel cartoon...

But keep in mind that the ROTF line will carry Hasbro into Summer 2010 at least. Before then, they have no need for a new show.
Tekkaman Blade
It's true that often the company never understands what it has. Then it's gone. Once it's gone it's hard to recapture the magic that was there and other effort while they may be good often seem lack luster in comparison.

That's another thing I hate about all of this. We'll get to see everything movie related drag on and on and on. ROTF will get beat like a dead horse meanwhile a great show and toyline like Animated will get cancelled in the process.

I love the movie but, I'm feeling a little resentment towards it because it's getting played out thanks to Hasbro.

It was disgusting to see 2007 movie toys shelfwarming almost 2 years after they came out while Animated and Universe were selling well.
G1Wheeljack
Talk about a double dose of dissapointment
Razerwire
Bah. There was so much potential to be harvested in Animated. Which of course translates to much more money I was willing to pay for more Animated toys. I guess the plus side of this is the amount of money I will save.

How many new characters will be in season 3 anyways and who will get the toy treatment?
shroobmaster
Well, at least it was a good run wasn't it?

Plus, nothing would make me happier than a movie show AND the complaints about a movie based show! FANDOM RULZ!

You gotta be kidding me, another year of nothing but movie crap? After the first few waves it just ended up into bizarre recolor territory...

Maybe the show will end and have a time skip and new name like Ben 10 Alien Force >_>

If they do a new cartoon please no movieformers...

Well, movie stuff is what the stores want.

So we'll get movie stuff for a year and a half at least.

It works for Star Wars - soon it'll work for ROTF.
Shark Jumper
Yeah movie stuff some how sells gradually (I'm looking at you Jungle Bonecrusher and Camshaft), but having nothing but movie leaves me with nothing to buy!
