I hate Armada, and that whole Unicron trilogy era, but I gotta say, that's one spiffy design. I love it.
It's like they took all the awkward out of the design, and reduced to it's core elements, and I never would've guessed, but it's actually pretty strong.

His design is actually kinda interesting. Though I don't fully like it. The one thing I would change about him is his head/neck, which just does NOT look right, imo. Other than that I like the design. Though I'm curious to see what his alt-mode will be. Definitely some kind of car, but can't really tell what it'll look like yet. Looks like it'll have a spoiler on it (the wing-like things on his shoulders). It'll be interesting to see how Hot Shot and Bumblebee react to each other, since they seem to have similar personalities. Though that's assuming they ever meet each other on the show.

We see all these season three characters' bot modes, but no alt modes.

Very nice design. I'm actually quite happy to see Hot Shot make it into Animated. He was really the big break out character of the Unicron Trilogy and it's nice to see him make it into the larger TF mythos.

It's cool to see him, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get over the disappointing news about the character that Wyatt revealed on his blog:

Damn! I was hoping they'd let him say at least 1 line referencing JaAM in the show. Oh well, at least he looks awesome.

They could just pair Hot Shot with Bumblebee and you'll get the same result

He'll still rank behind Armada, Energon, Cybertron, and Universe Hotshot for me simply due to the Animated look, but kudos for making an effort to develop new ongoing characters.
Has there been any newer character (outside of the main core cast) that's been a part of 4-5 series? I think Hotshot may be the only one.

I don't care what anyone says - the allspark blue, the funny Animated look (which I'm usually all for and not against)... This thing looks horrific! I'd rather buy an Armada Hotshot toy than have anything to do with this monstrosity.

Looks pretty cool, but the last few designs for TFA are starting to look a bit formulaic, predictable. I love animated, don't get me wrong, but I think I'll just get Uni. Hot Shot when he comes out! You never know though, when the box is in hand I often cannot resist!

I'm against it. Hot Shot's always been an annoying, charmless carbon copy of Bumblebee or Cheetor. Case in point: this character model is more or less Bumblebee with extra junk on his chest. Regardless, if they keep up the quality writing it'll be pretty good. Even if a different character might've been preferable.

I think you are absolutely right and the similarity to Bumblebee will be played to great comedic effect.
