Thanks to TFW2005 Animated enthusiast Peaugh for the first images of Transformers Animated Grimlock in package with "snapping jaws". Click the thumbnail to see images of the front and back of the box. Note his sword has a "Removable jet of fire breath".

Not great, but not horrible, until you look at the top of his head:



The force needed to wedge it in there vertically starts to split his head along the seam. No worries, it's not broken at all, but I'm not going to be doing it again unless there's some magic way I'm not noticing. After some fiddling, it looks like, with the tab down and some fiddling to get it between his lower teeth, you can have him hold it without the head gapping:






It's not the most elegant way, but I'm pretty sure that's as good as it's going to get.
That looks better, but when you place it like that the top jaw splits a little bit, but it still looks better.

Still looks like a sword in his mouth. Personally, i'd just rather put the sowrd aside in dino mode. Or keep him displayed in robot mode.

i think the whole official flame from mouth is a lot of wishful thinking, sad but probably true. the whole 'removable jet of fire breath' just sounds a bit odd anyway.

Oh, I agree on the sword in mouth thing, I was just trying to see if there was any way it could work and what it would look like. Those are the results. I just lay the sword aside in dino mode.

there looks like there is a slot on the bottom of grimlocks neck that would allow you to peg the sword and it could be viewed as a jury rig of breathing fire but I don't have the figure, somebody else would have to check

That slot if for where his dino head pegs into the backpack in robot mode. It's too small to peg the sword into it.
