Again, thanks to TFW2005 member Optimus747 we bring you another pictorial review of an upcoming figure. This time we have Animated Freeway Jazz. This redeco of Jazz features a paint job homage to his namesake from the Movie-Verse. Included images see Freeway Jazz against Autobot Jazz from Animated, 2007 Movie Premium Jazz, and Binaltech Agent Meister.

Optimus747:
This is more of a small gallery than a review:

Freeway Jazz

Vehicle Mode

Primarily dark gray, with translucent amber headlights and gold rims, as well as a red Autobot emblem (not Elite Guard, though) on the hood.

With the original TFA Jazz:

With Movie Premium Jazz and Binaltech Argent Meister:

Robot Mode

He gets more black in this mode, and his visor is painted light blue. However, the amber light piping works if a strong light is behind him, and his visor lights up yellow.

All together now!:

Overall, I really like Freeway Jazz. The colors are great. It's tough deciding between the two Animated Jazzes because each style is cool. Freeway Jazz displays nicely with Movie Jazz and Binaltech Argent Meister, or looks good just by himself. If you're a fan of Jazz, this is one I highly recommend.
justamaze:
Nice shots, he looks alright. Your Bineltech Meister needs his waist section rotated so the feet are on the right side. Looks like his feet are on the wrong legs.
Zie:
It does look good in silver, but I just can not get over the cartoonyness of the car mode. I could let it slide on Grimlock and Lockdown, but for some reason it's a massive turn off when it comes to Jazz. I think it's the tail light fins, without those he'd look a lot sleeker in both modes and closer to the old Porche.

Still, the Jazz lover in me sort of wants to add these two to the collection...
SoundMaster:
I'm not sure if I'll pick this one up. like the colors, but the toy itself is a little underwhelming, IMO.
UTK007:
Looking good.

lol, I noticed that when I transformed him back to vehicle mode (I did bot mode pics first).
Feralstorm:
Looks pretty nice, though I'd like it a lot better if it had a coat of paint like many of the movie and Alternator/Binaltech silver cars.
Rev_Pee_Kitty:
I'm still thrown by the lack of an Elite Guard symbol -- did Jazz get demoted or something?

For those who don't have this mold yet, it's actually pretty sweet. The "nunchaku pipes" are a cool weapon and he's pretty posable. But I don't love the mold enough to buy it twice. Since I got the Reprolabel upgrade stickers for the original Animated Jazz (the ones that extend his stripes, etc.), I'll just give all my love to him.

If you don't already have this mold, I'd recommend it -- pick up whichever color scheme you prefer, of course.
AndreyOfDoom:
Did you transform Binaltech meister's legs wrong on purpose? Nice review it seems like freeway jazz is a movie jazz homage.

Nah I completely forgot that you have to rotate the hip parts around, I don't transform my Alternators often (Alternators Jazz had the legs tf'd wrong too in that last pic).
Lord Of Tetris:
The robot mode looks just as good (if not cooler!) than regular Jazz, but the car mode is really lacking. Maybe the lack of hood detail wouldn't be a problem if we didn't have regular Jazz to compare it to?

Anyway, cool pics, thanks for sharing!
Sage o' G-fruit:
Great review, but I think I might pass on this one unless there's nothing else in the store.

But who knows, he might be another Jolt.
Jazz-Zen:
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned G1 Ricochet. Since G1 Ricochet was black with a lot of gold details, and Freeway Jazz is dark gray with gold detail, he is definitely going to be the Ricochet of my collection.

kenm2474:
Had enough of the repaints. Bring on the new guys we have been waiting on already. Namely Arcee and Roddy. Good Lord what's the hold up?
samtastic:
100% pass.
Lucs:
Thanks for the pics. He looks pretty good in bot mode IMO but the car mode kind of makes me think KO just because it seems there's no paint and that autobot symbol seems out of place for some reason. Wish they would have gone all the way and made him into Ricochet/Stepper with flame decals (Stepper sounds like a better name to me because it feels like Jazz is into music and Stepper would be like a breakdancer)
lowem:
Good complement to Movie Jazz.
Railguard:
Hey they never did release animated hot rod huh? That really sucks.
iheartarcee:
that silver looks sooo bland...

I love this mold but will stick with the OG version..

He'll be out, along with Arcee, Blackout, Wingblade Prime, and the Bulkhead repaint.
jorod74:
I lucked out and caught a Jazz on sale.
i was fearful i would be stuck buying FW Jazz, because like most here, his alt is a yawn and his bot mode is kinda good, but it falls short of "buy."

He just feels....rushed out the door, imo.
the colors do not come off as slick, cool, classy or anything like that.
Ray Kremer:
It looks so plain. Makes more sense with the "movie Jazz-esque" pointed out, but still, is anything else in animated this monotone? Bleh. Buying it anyway, completionism for the line and all.
coinilius:
Excuse the very rough digibash, but I am totally going to do this to Freeway Jazz to turn him into a seperate character for my collection...

Heh, heh, heh. Didn't think of that one, but that looks pretty sweet. If I had the equipment and patience, I'd do me up a Bluestreak as well. Let me know if you feel like selling it after you do it. At least post some more.

Will indeed post something whenever I get the figure - I'm trying to find new characters for all the Animated repaints (with some minor mods if needed) to be turned into for my collection.
