Transformers: Animated The Complete AllSpark Almanac Cover & New Details

Posted on 01-26-2015 at 07:08 PM by Mechafire under Animated
The-Complete-AllSpark-Almanac-cover---Marcelo-Matere-3 Jim Sorenson has just put out a hefty update for the Transformers: Animated The Complete AllSpark Almanac on his blog, Disciples of Boltax. First up, we have the new cover itself, drawn by Marcelo Matere and colored by Josh Perez. Secondly, Jim confirms that the book will include The AllSpark Almanac Addendum which was assembled for the Transformers Collectors' Club magazine, and about ten pages of new content teasing more of what Season 3.5 might look like. Here's the full quote form Jim himself:

"It looks like The Complete AllSpark Almanac is just three short weeks away, with an ETA of February 18th at fine comic book stores everywhere. (Probably hitting Amazon shortly thereafter, available for preorder now.) Here's Marcelo Matere's beautiful cover for the book, with excellent Josh Perez colors. (Josh also lent his talents to some of the new bonus material inside the book.)

For those of you who missed our Radio Free Cybertron interview, this is going to be a massive, 472 page tome that combines The AllSpark Almanac, The AllSpark Almanac II, The AllSpark Almanac Addenda we put together for the Transformers Collectors' Club, and ten-ish pages of new content teasing more of what Season 3.5 might look like. We worked closely with Derrick Wyatt to ensure that the book was as close to 100% canon as possible, with all new material carefully vetted (and a bit of old material tweaked or recontextualized.) I hope that you all get a big kick out of this one. V1 and V2 are insanely hard to find and fetch ridiculous prices on the secondary market, so it's very nice to get this material back in print where everyone can get a copy."

The book will be available in three weeks, on February 18 - be sure to pick yours up!

30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 2008

Posted on 05-02-2014 at 12:00 PM by Sol Fury under Animated
2008 Moving from strength to strength, Hasbro introduced a new Transformers cartoon, one that was written in the west and co-produced with Cartoon Network. This new series was called Transformers Animated, and went with a radical change to the established art style of what had gone before, polarizing opinions from the very first glimpse of the series – though clever writing meant it quickly became a well-loved show. Its toyline was delayed, though, thanks to retailers demanding more movie toys on store pegs. Fans who disliked the new take in Transformers Animated were not left out in the cold either, as Hasbro recognized the success of the Classics series and brought out a new Classics styled series under the name of Transformers Universe, which blended redecos with Classics style reinterpretations of the original characters. Last but not least, IDW proclaimed “All Hail Megatron” as they carried out a soft-reboot of their Transformers continuity.

TFW Unreleased Animated Activators Electromagnetic Soundwave Gallery

Posted on 07-27-2013 at 06:44 AM by Sol Fury under Animated
ElectromagneticSoundwaveRobot10 Today we want to share with all of you with something a bit special - a toy that never made it to general US retail! For your enjoyment today, we have a look at the never-released Transformers Animated Activators Electromagnetic Soundwave.

Soundwave in Transformers Animated, rather than being a member of Megatron's Decepticons, was a creation of the human genius Isaac Sumdac which had evolved and taken on a life of his own through exposure to the Allspark powered key held by Sumdac's daughter, Sari. The "Electromagnetic" Soundwave was featured prominently in the cliffhanger ending of the season 3 Transformers Animated episode as a gigantic version of the Decepticon. This makes it more ironic that the redeco was used on the smaller version of Soundwave.

As a toy, the deco looks very sharp. The white and teal in vehicle mode go together nicely, and the purple windows give the vehicle a bit of personality. Robot mode adds more black into the mix, which contrasts nicely against the white and creates a unique and fun deco. As far as the toy itself goes, Soundwave is simple to transform, moving between modes in less than five steps, and featuring good all round articulation including elbow and knee swivels, lateral outward movement on the shoulders and full movement on the head.

Overall, Electromagnetic Soundwave is a fun little toy with a nice and different deco. A few have been appearing on eBay lately for reasonable prices, if you are a fan of Animated or a fan of Soundwave, you definitely ought to look into it.
