I am having trouble seeing the point of this accessory. The matrix is tiny compared to Prime and the gas tank/gun looks to be made of nasty Hasbro grey metal.

It gives Optimus a worthy gun (not the tiny pistol he originally came with). The Matrix is made to fit into the other piece which goes inside the chest cavity without interfering with the way it closes up. If it was much bigger, it wouldn't fit as well as it does.

Wonderful piece, but I've read reviews that say the clip of the gas tank does have a tendency to chip the paint when attaching it to Prime's alt mode.

Well, I've got mine. My alt Nemesis has gotten some serious upgrades, and my Op needs something to help him keep up.
Keep in mind though, if you just need a better gun, you could always just get an Armored Core weapon kit for something like $4. It doesn't store nicely on his alt mode like this, and there's no Matrix, but if you just want a better gun it's the economical way to go. Most of my Alts sport new weapons from Kotobukyia, and most of them are Armored Core weapons.

I hope this things end up on sale at some point. I mean 2000 isn't a whole lot but considering that there are still City Commander sets at online retailers and I believe they made 2000 or 3000 of them.
$30 for a few accessories just feels like a lot to me. Not knocking the design or time it took them to make by any means. I personally think they look great. I just can't justify it for my collection

What's a good website to buy these Armored Core weapons from? What scale fits with Alternators? Is there a scale that fits Classics size figs?

Same here, thats a little too much for me for just a weapon. Its cool and all but to me not worth 30$ ..I would pay maybe 15$ for one same with there magnus armor, i would only pay like 30$ for that.. I thought thats what they said it would be sold for and then it comes out at over 70$. Not for me , i could buy alot more figures for that money..

Ive paid alot of money for accessories, so I get it...,but I dont have alt Prime so I probably wont get this item.
