The alt.mode is sweet! The robot mode is gorgeous. the new color scheme...not so much. I know its a "Convoy" but the grey fits the mold sooooo much better.

Okay, so maybe I'm in crazy camp, but I like the red. It seems more eye grabbing to be- at least for a convoy. If I had to choose one, I'd go for red, but I'm just going to have to get both.

I like the toy, but two things are keeping me from jumping on it:
1. Why the hell is this Prime? I know Takara likes to make everything a Prime, but this just feels stupid.
2. $50
And maybe it's also partly due to because I just bought a lot of expensive G1 stuff. If this guy was a character that I feel fits the mold (I know, very GEEWUNER of me), I'd probably go ahead and get it.

Wile I was initially excited for this guy I have to say after seeing these I'm pretty turned off now. The red version I find is especially bad and just looks so wrong in so many ways. Silver version though still maintains some degree of interest but will have to see it in person now to decide if I really want it now.

Damn, I was hoping that I wouldn't like the red as much as I do...(I know, I'm in the minority on that one) but I can't see spending $50 bucks on this guy right now... or in January. As some have said, just too much other cool stuff coming out.

Yeah, that's my problem right now. I like the silver one enough to pay $50 for him, but there's just so much cool stuff coming out around December/January (not to mention a January release is right after the holidays) that I just can't justify the $50 price tag at the moment. I guess it'll depend on when I find the Universe & Animated stuff that's coming out at the time. If I find it sometime in December than I can easily pick this guy up in late January when he's supposed to be released... but if I don't see any of the new Animated stuff until early January... than it's not as likely.

Maybe I will buy two of these as my first Takara figs. One in each color. 1/32nd scale might drive my OCD up a wall since I wouldn't be able to park them next to the 1/24th scale Alternators. O well.

One is license mandated by Nissan, as Silver is the official promotional color of the car. The other is prime colors, because Japanese collectors are more likely to buy Prime than "random expensive and tiny transforming robot #7". That's all there is to it.

I'm glad someone feels the same way about ugly seams on Ironhide. That was a deal breaker for me. That's just lazy design breaking him into arbitrary pieces to make shapes. And making two different materials for glass for the windshield and sides, man, they just should've went painted windows all the way to make it consistent. I've been waiting for a good Ironhide, I guess I'll have to wait even longer. In regards to Alternity Prime, it's a decent looking robot form, but like people said, door wings are getting old.

Door wings are a signature TF look. I like them a lot. If they didn't use them for wings they would try to turn them into arms or a bigger backpack. It's a great way to keep Alt-mode parts looking stylish in Bot-mode. Turning them into anything else would require putting more visible seams on the doors to fold them up and hide them somewhere.

man i like them both but i too love the red version it just seems to pop for me. and i can't believe no one has commented on the coolness of how the seats on the arms turn into weapons come on thats sweet. and I'm with vang the way the middle section of the grill disappears in bot mode is cool. right now im tossed up on getting this when before it was a total pass.

Last time I checked, the Alternity Convoys are to be wide-release toys, not limited-run convention-exclusive figures.

speaking as someone who has ALMOST every Binaltech i think these are way overpriced. i'd go 35ish for it, but 50 for something barely bigger than a deluxe?

After taking another look at this, I'm not sure which I should get. The Classic sRed & blue one would look great on my desk with my other Primes, but the silver also looks nice. Buying two's out fo the question as they're so expensive for the size of a deluxe already & it would just be the same thing.

Not digging the half blue thigh or hands on the red version though, even if they're aiming for a Gen1-esque look. The blue clashes with the silver and red. Too man colors I guess.

Silver looks good, but the price seems a little high. I might get one during one of the sales that are bound to happen... But there's no way I'll pay the price it's going for now (from domestic retailers, anyway...)
