Hmm, even in red and blue, I'm not getting much of a 'Convoy' vibe from that thing.
Also, the car mode is kinda riddled with ugly seams (not a Universe Ironhide level, but not that far away)

Bad Design Decisions R Us: Those panels in front of his shouldlers look like they will scrape the sides of the fenders when you move his arms.
Now, if he was painted plastic, there would not be a problem (this sort of paint adheres to plastic better than metal).

Those are beautiful. I be ordering both colors the first chance I get. I love the blue on it. These are the best pics I've seen so far. First time I noticed his autobot insignia belt buckle, lol.

Is this going to be a new line or a one-off? Because, if it's a new line, shouldn't we kinda be seeing or hearing of more by now? As it is, this is the only one we've heard of in, what, 6 months?

We currently assume it's a one-off.
It's supposedly also a Takara-only thing, with no Hasbro input whatsoever.

Well I have a handful of each pre-ordered and after seeing these pics, I am considering dropping them.
Don't get me wrong, I like Binaltech and was keen to get these based on the assumption that the line was a continuation of the Binaltech line. But those seams in Alt. mode look horrid and the robot mode isn't much better. That coupled with the fact that they are a smaller scale than Binaltech and therefore will be a bugger for my fat fingers means that I am not sure whether to get them or not now
Edit: Do we know the actual release date for them yet? Last I heard it was after the new year.

Agree with earlier comment: alt. mode is so universe Ironhide or movie Stockade. This is a glorified deluxe figure, not worth the extra $. If he were 20 bucks, it'd be worth it.

Are they the same character but in different stages of the story?
Are they different characters that look the same?

This mold looks awesome...but for some reason I just don't like that the character they chose is Prime. I love OP don't get me wrong...but NOT as a car. That head is ripe for removal...I just hope it's not too much of a bitch to kitbash....it seems like it's attached to the plastic piece behind his head. I don't know which color I'm more inclined to like yet.

wasn't it the same way with smokescreen tho, when we started to see him from the binaltech line? it's like they put one out to test the line to see how much buzz it gets before they release the rest of the line; i seem to remember wondering after awhile if
he was a one-off, cuz after the initial showing, it seemed to be forever before we heard about any of the others. maybe i just wasn't paying attention, lol.
anyway, he's weird looking, but i kinda like it just cuz it breaks the mold; i appreciate it's "differentness". i
am disappointed that he's a smaller scale tho...
and, as much as i like prime's colors, the silver looks better to me; the red is kinda cartoon-y.

I love this! I like the Prime colors. They definitely scream Prime without being an eye sore of colors. I always wished Prime was a fast car. Finally a quality Transformer!

The 1:32 scale really screws up the lines in alt mode though. It seems a little to small to support that many pieces cleanly.

Eh, you know, I really really like the looks of this guy, but the almost $50 price tag on importing him is throwing me off. I'll really have to see some positive reviews before I drop that kind of cash on him right now... not that he may not be worth it so much as there's a lot of cool stuff coming out over the next couple of months and some of it's just as cool -if not cooler- and in some cases cheaper... more bang for your buck and such... but I am digging that silver version.

I thought I liked it, then I see these photos and realize just how bad the red mold looks. It doesn't look like Convoy to me and what's up with the gray bar around his head??? Silver looks better, but I don't think it looks like Convoy either. Won't be getting this toy...

I think the red is slick - definately will try and pick it up next year. The silver is nice but it's just so plain/monotoned. The red makes him pop, at least to me.
As for the price.... how many folks picked up the THS 02 figure? =) I think to myself "Wow, $50 seems a lot for a little figure..." -- then I look at hybrid Prime and tell myself that it's really not that bad. I know the hybrid has the trailer but still. He's tiny and I gladly threw $50 down for him so I have no real issue with this guy being $45-50 to import.
