| Posted on 07-03-2009 at 12:33 PM by Shin Densetsu | TakaraTomy will be reissuing MP-04 Masterpiece Convoy/Optimus Prime(Perfect Edition) in October, according to Digitami. The most popular masterpiece figure, it raised the bar for Transformers toys, and is arguably the best Transformer ever made.

I'm a bit confused by this "perfect edition" lingo. Is this a re-release of the previous MP-04 (which seemed just about perfect)? Or is there actually some kind of improvement/change to the mold?

I don't think a battle damage, anime, or minor repaint is enough to warrant such a purchase. I would however buy a MP Nemesis Prime!!! Make it So!!!!

I don't think it's proper to call this the arguably best Transformer ever on the front page. That's pretty pretentious. In fact I think it's flat out wrong to call it that. Many may disagree entirely.

And just because some list calls it the best toy ever made doesn't mean it is, so actually it isn't. I'm not saying it's the worst or there is another TF that deserves the title, but nobody has the right to call it the best anything ever. if it's your favourite, fine, but favourite=/=best.

Wow, Nice! And for under $400.00! Hopefully this re-release will jump start the MP front, as I've been missing it. Come on Takara get on the ball and give us a MP-X Bumble Bee please. Screw the VW Bug/beetle, go with the Nissan March! That cars design is full of win, it's close enough to the old design few, if any, will even car for the change in vehicle.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Lotus Elise myself, but I think we're moving on to Alternator territory, as these are re-inventions. Wheeljack's already been done anyway, so I'm all for someone new 
Sexy or not the March is close enough to the VW, and seeing how Takara cannot use the VW, I think this is our best bet. Bumble Bee shouldn't have to be sexy, just...Bumble Bee.

Mine has a broken smokestack from taking a tumble, and glue's been no help. Plus, they seem to not want to sell the trailer separate... with a roller to justify the price... but then again, I'd pay for this before an "albino" prime with no armor...

I agree with a couple others that I'd love a Nemesis Prime version show up. It's an easy repaint of this mold.
Good news for those who don't have it already though. I picked mine up from TFSource at the same time as MP Megatron in December.

I'm just glad there's finally some Transformers news that has nothing to do with ROTF! And while there are certainly some flaws to the figure I would say that if you only ever buy one Transformer it should be this one so I guess it gets my vote for best TF too. :-)

I'd like Takara/Tomy to release the trailer on its own, too. I'm not going to buy the whole toy just for it when I already have MP01.
People complain about the iGear trailer, but Takara could essentially kill it now if they wanted to, by selling the trailer on it's own.

the MP-4 trailer sucked.
the G1 at least had launching missles, roller and the launcher for roller!
