E-Hobby has released a picture of the Alternity Ultra Magnus packaging. This white redeco of the Alternity Convoy is packaged in a solid box, rather than the window box of the other Alternity releases, which allows it to feature a nice large piece of Ultra Magnus artwork and big, full color Autobot logos. Check out the image and share your opinions on our 2005 Boards by clicking the discuss button.

I want one!
Auto Morph
My biggest reason yet to buy an Alternity, closely followed by Skywarp.

For some reason, some mold just look better in certain colours IMO.
stevej
Should have been Jazz.
SmokescreenGT
Nice, but I prefer the regular Alternity box where the car is visible. I wonder why they didn't use that with this release.
Poho
that looks mega sexy. almost as nice as the silver, which is the best IMO
Type-R
Not liking this windowless packaging.

Lol at the Engrish "Ultla Magnus" on the box.
Rod
now where is the cheapest place to preorder?

i guess just to make it exclusive and 'unique' from ehobby, they had to cover it up /2cents

a few of us are getting them from tfsource. order two and save 10 dollars and split shipping. we did the same for warbot defender and i ended up paying 2 bucks less than retail including shipping. get some folks from your sightings and hook it up.

ive got to get one

Guys I'm fairly certain that image is just a digital mockup, I'm sure the box will have the plastic window when it's released – they've just been left out for this image because it's not worth the time and hassle to photoshop those details in realistically... This image is just to give people an idea of what the artwork on the box will be, along with the text.
Rodr-Evil
Woah very nice box!
BigBadBoombox
Makes me wonder if this is to protect from Yellowing...

Actually, it seems fairly likely it will be a solid box. The placement and size of the Alternity logos, car model markings, name tags, and the like have all been completely consistent in Alternity releases so far in the see-through boxes.

By comparison, this one has MUCH larger alternity logos, a nametag on the front and top on the left ends, and the model logo on the bottom left of the top side. There's also an Autobot logo shown on both end panels of the box, where there is normally only one in cutout form on the end of the box where the back of the car is.

All of these design pieces are taking up a lot of the room that is normally clear on the box, and would severely obscure the view of the vehicle mode inside.

WANT!
Treadshot A1
Wow. It actually says, in ENGLISH, Ultra Magnus!!! /sarcasm

Like most other people, not liking the windowless packaging. Oh well.
Fosterlager
Woulda been a great Jazz.
PoweredConvoy
Not really, unless they gave him a new head and such.

Precisely. Too bad they felt the Suzuki mold was worth the expense but not this one.
Sage o' G-fruit
Not really worth the money IMO. I'd rather pick up one of the less expensive Convoy versions.
crasis
Yeah, with a new head this would have been my stand-in "Classics" Jazz. As Ultra Magnus I'm just not feeling it.
Maloknazh
I should get into alternity. Start with the White Repaint himself!
[Wing_Saber-X]
Hmm, yeah windowless boxes = teh sux.

It's intended to be an "exclusive" packaging by eHobby... meh...

Which is super weird considering they never bothered releasing Henkei Deluxe Cliffjumper.
PoweredConvoy
They had the Legends Bumblebee as Henkei Cliffjumper, why bother with the Deluxe.

Takara has never released a Cliffjumper that is just a straight recolor of a Bumblebee. He's always had at least something different.

So I imagine to them a recolor of Henkei Bumblebee into Cliffjumper didn't fit with their perception of the character so they went and used another mold to recolor him into.

Randy
Golden Age
Still hoping for a Smokescreen/Prowl/Bluestreak version (with slight head remold).
videriant
I'm on the fence. I've never really thought of this mold as Optimus and prefer the black one so I'll have to see if a white repaint of a generic robot is worth $65 to me.

Now that you mention, they haven't straight up mass released any Henkei repaint.

Skyfire -> toyhobby Dark Skyfire
Starscream -> Ganbo/? Thundercracker/Skywarp, Generations Ghost Starscream
Mirage -> Generations Electro-Mirage
Cyclonus -> credit card Strafe

Hah good catch!
Bgrngod
These are clearly just renders of the packaging. I'm hoping this means there is still a chance for the windowed plastic getting used.
Backscatter
Nice box, but not enough to buy another White Prime.

Meh. It doesn't look like Ultra Magnus.

Almost. Smokescreen is a straight redeco of Streak.

The solid box doesn't surprise me. It's similar to Binaltech BT-18 Rijie... it's (a) a money-saving thing, and (b) an exclusivity thing.

Again, the massively altered size and placement of all the logos and nametags on the top and front, plus the completely different car-front end panel, makes it highly unlikely they'd make this clear. The logos ad nametags alone would almost completely obscure the toy inside and defeat the entire purpose.
