IDW My Little Pony issue #19 Transformers Variant Cover

Posted on 04-18-2014 at 07:19 AM by Sol Fury under Comics
BlX2ozuCcAItw1Vjpglarge In a callback to last year's variant cover, IDW has revealed it is doing a variant cover for its upcoming My Little Pony #19 crossing over Transformers and My Little Pony. The cover features Starscream with an awkward smile alongside Rainbow Dash.

The cover states it is a convention exclusive edition although information is presently unavailable on where it is exclusive to. We would guess like the previous cover though this will be available from the IDW booth at the summer conventions, including Botcon and San Diego Comic Con.

Big thanks to Equestria Daily for breaking this news.

New Rise of the Dark Spark Preview from Game Informer

Posted on 04-17-2014 at 03:04 PM by Secretcode under Video Games
InvestorDay000184 If you are like me and somehow have a subscription to Game Informer, you might have received the newest issue in the mail! While the cover may be for Epic Games' Fortnite, taking a peak inside to say... Page 71 in the previews section will show you the newest preview at the latest Transformers video game.

To begin, we are given some of the first vague details about WayForward's Nintendo 3DS version of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. The game, as previously announced, is a grid-based tactical RPG (Think Advance Wars, or even Super Robot Wars) featuring over 50 Transformers characters. Game producer Andy Owen has stated that "Players will plot their next move on detailed strategic maps, and then engage in epic one-on-one 3D Battle sequences." A screenshot of the 3DS version has also been shown, and attached to this story.

The console and PC version of Rise of the Dark Spark has some new details as well. First, the two worlds (Movieverse and WFCverse) are connected by an ancient relic known as The Dark Spark. This relic acts as a portal between the two universes and is capable "Bending the fabric of the universe to (the wielder's) will." It has now been confirmed that the Movieverse portion of the game will take place during and after Age of Extinction, whereas the WFC/FOC portion will take place BEFORE the launch of the Ark in Fall of Cybertron. The gameplay is very similar to Fall of Cybertron, in that the story is focused on a single character and will bounce back and forth between over 40 playable characters.

Not everything is familiar, however! Edge of Reality is trying their best to help innovate and improve upon High Moon Studio's last three games. One of these new features is a Unified Leveling System where experience and unlocks are universal between Campaign and the returning Escalation mode and will feature new items, characters, weapons and upgrades. Secondly, "Power Foes" have been added to Escalation, where if your team lasts long enough, boss characters will appear (Such as Fall of Cybertron Megatron.)

Lastly, one other feature has been added called Hacks. Anyone who is familiar with the Halo series of games should feel right at home with this new feature, as these Hacks modify the gameplay by adding in additional variables to Escalation such as higher enemy health, or every robot becoming a massive explosion upon death. Sadly, there seems to be no analogue to the Grunt Birthday Party skull from Halo 3. Sorry Mechafire.

At this time there are no details on if the standard competitive Multiplayer (Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, etc) modes will be returning in the upcoming game.

30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 1993

Posted on 04-17-2014 at 12:00 PM by Sol Fury under Generation 1
1993 1993 arrived and Transformers were back! Transformers Generation 2 arrived in force, with a mixture of recolored and retooled old toys, and some brand new toy designs as well. For the first time since 1988, there was a Transformers cartoon on screens in the US in the form of repackaged Generation 1 reruns, and it was all topped off by the return of Transformers to comics, complete with a crossover with G.I. Joe to kick the series off. While the line was over in Japan at this time with no new toys released, Europe and the other international markets continued to lead the way for Transformers toys, with a wider range of toys released.

Masterpiece Star Saber Update From Takara

Posted on 04-17-2014 at 11:59 AM by StayingInTheBox under Transformers Masterpiece
27432379d1397751261-mp-star-saber-update-diary_ph01 We're all eagerly awaiting news of the fan voted Masterpiece Star Saber and today we got just a small tidbit of news tweeted out earlier today by Takara. Here's the good news, it looks like the development of this figure has moved past the design stage and judging by the loose translation of the tweet, development of the figure is moving forward. The design sketches that were tweeted we've previously reported on.

What does this mean for the time frame for Star Saber to be released? We can't be certain, but with the design stage done we can only guess that next year is a possible release date (although let's keep our fingers crossed for a quick, flawless turnaround!).

Check out the translation and discuss after the jump!

Linkin Park Is Not Working With Steve Aoki For The Soundtrack Of Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction

Posted on 04-17-2014 at 08:20 AM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
Joe-Hahn-Linkin-Park-Transformers-4-Age-Of-Extinction In a recent Tweet Out episode on Geek Nation, Linkin Park band member Joe Hahn mentioned that they will not be working with Steve Aoki for the Soundtrack of Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

When asked by a fan "Are you in Transformers with Aoki? Yes or No?" Mr. Hahn responded (after putting a lot of thinking to it) with a clear "No".

However, with his short answer it's unclear whether Linkin Park is in or not for the soundtrack of Michael Bay's Transformers 4. But his tone suggests that there is a possibility of them delivering a song for the end credits. If it is true, then the possibility of the song being taken from their upcoming album "The Hunting Party" is rather strong. Check it out after then jump for the full list of songs from the album.

Now we can finally put the Linkin Park Steve Aoki TF4 Collaboration Rumor to the dustbin.

Takara Tomy Transformers 30th Anniversary Plans Revealed

Posted on 04-17-2014 at 03:53 AM by SilverOptimus under Generation 1
Takara-Tomy-30th-Anniversary-Optimus-Prime Another site update from Takara Tomy reveals their plans for the 30th Anniversary of the Transformers Franchise.

4 projects will be carried out to celebrate this wonderful event:

Project 1: A special edition Optimus Prime toy featuring the likeness of his G1 self (news post image). The truck and the trailer is slightly modernized but overall a good update to the Autobot Leader.

Update: As it turns out Google Translator has incorrectly translated Project 1. The G1 Optimus Prime is not a toy according to 2005 Boards Member PoweredConvoy but rather a modified actual truck and a trailer.

Project 2: Midnight Launch of Transformers Movie Advance Line on May 16th. The launch is titled "Transformers Celebration 2014" and will be held at Toys 'R' Us, Sunshine City.

Project 3: A convention titled "Transformers Expo" is also organized and is set to become the biggest Transformers Expo ever held. The expo will feature dioramas and holographic images. As a part of this project G1 colored AOE Slug will be available for purchase. For more info about the Expo and about G1 Slug, you can read our News Post.

Project 4: The 4th project is dedicated to apply an Optimus Prime inspired deco to a SUPER GT car belonging to the Team Mach. A fictional story of Optimus Prime scanning a Mach will serve as a backstory.

You can find out more at Takara Tomy. More images can be found, after the jump.
