X-Transbots today released new bot-mode renders of their upcoming attempt at a Masterpiece-styled Cyclonus.
This figure is slated to be the third release in their MX-line, after Apollyon (Megatron) who has recently been released to fairly positive reviews and Andreas (Scourge) who just today went up for pre-order at all the site sponsors.
For those who are looking to expand their Masterpiece collection beyond the typical Season 1 and 2 characters to include post-movie characters, this is an excellent opportunity to do just that and to add some diversity to your collection.
Check out the new pictures and decide for yourself if this figure fits into your Masterpiece collection. Did they nail the aesthetic? Is the alt mode scaled properly or are the wings too short? Is this the definitive version of Cyclonus you’ve always wanted? Stop by to discuss on the boards.

I'm afraid all the Eligos are like this.

I just received my new Eligos from the reissue. He is beautiful – IMO, the robot mode is much more satisfying to pose and awesome looking than FT Quietus. Right away I was pleased.
Unfortunately the transformation… damn, X-Transbots never fails to frustrate me:
(1) I thought I heard that they had fixed the issue of the tabs next to the cockpit breaking when plugged into alt mode. But mine cracked on the right side on the first transformation. Damn!
(2) Trying to get the legs to fold up for alt mode is a PITA.
(3) How in God's name do you get the rear of the alt mode to peg together? Anyone else have this issue? See photo… I just can't get it to go together, no matter how hard I push. Any advice?View attachment 30311425
Mister D
Just ordered him from TFSource as I had a PO in my stash that was about to ship and I'd rather spend $130 on toys than $10 on shipping. 😉

Yeah, I’m more and more wanting to replace quietus with this guy. Quietus is too skinny, and doesnt feel as premium as some FT stuff does.

Just arrived.
Changing face has been very easy and no need of screwdriver .
He appears as a very luxury toy than a MP for materials and feels and has already replaced my KO Quietus on shelf.
Eligos is more similar to s3 and I ve chosen the more rounded face because now really is very similar to memorable Webworld memories, where Cyclonus was both competent and with also some funny scenes.

In following days I should receive my Eligos, the newest version.
I noticed has IDW head,to change it should i use screwdriver as Emgo did on older toy?
Because in a recent video of new Eligos, reviewer changed faces just with his fingers.
ThrustJan
Watching Webworld ,one of my favorite episodes,Eligos is a lot more similar to that Cyclonus
DarkEyes
That's exactly why I prefer Eligos!
ThrustJan
What is the face already applied by default on his recent reissue?
A g1 without black goatee?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! Especially hearing that Eligos is more fun to fiddle with as a robot (at least for one person)… I think that matters to me. I tend to enjoy my figures more when looking at them makes me want to pick them up, rather than figures that immediately frustrate me when I pick them up.

Totally agree with you.
Sensation
I know the cartoon is not much of a reference because every bot looks different all the time.
But here's why I like Eligos and don't like Quietus.
Quietus really is too thin for me.

Cyclonus needs to look like he has the muscle to give Ultra Magnus a run for his money.
Quietus doesn't look like that against Commander Stack at all.

And Cyclonus clearly needs to be bigger than Galvatron. Again Quietus isn't.

Original unpainted release. I believe the new painted version is fully corrected. Not transformed mine tho.
timcourtois
Is that a problem with the upgraded version, or just the original?

I owned XTB for years and years and haven’t bothered to transform it other than the one time. I got quietus a few months back and much prefer it. I think having to file down those nubs on Eligos for jet mode hurt my conception of it beyond repair. It still doesn’t hold together flush and looks worse than before.
Superquad7
As Cyclonus was a bit of a rival to Ultra Magnus, the XTB figure being more beefy looks more like he can go a round or two with Magnus.
I'm glad I live in a world where I can have my cake and eat it two by owning both figures.
Gotta say that the repaint of the XTB figure really makes it shine.
Just having paint on the face alone makes a night and day difference!

I prefer Quietus, mainly because he's closer to the G1 toy. That was fairly thin and spindly. Eligos is too chunky for me. Sadly, neither Quietus nor Eligos is available in a dark purple.
While I think that Quietus looks better in both modes, Eligos is more fun to play around with. So it might depend on whether you prefer to pose them or fiddle with them. And yes, the arms on Quietus have definitely got floppier over time. I just tried and he can't hold the gun up, so I'll dribble some Kiki in later.
Both transformations are okay, but they each have annoying bits. On Eligos, the legs are a bit fussy, and I don't like a couple of bits where you force panels past each other. On Quietus, tabbing the wings in and hiding the fists away isn't great.

I love NA Cyclonus EX, though. So good!
