Site sponsor Robotkingdom recently updated their site and their Facebook page with a preorder for a third party add-on kit to be used on the Generations Cybertronian Megatron mold. Specifically, this kit aims to enhance the United Megatron Darkside Version of the mold.

According to the preorder, this kit features LED added fusion cannon, light-piping eyes, and more. This kit is slated to be available sometime in the summer of 2012.

Staff Note: This kit is an unofficial product not produced or endorsed by Hasbro or Takara/Tomy.

Still not really into this. Waiting for someone to make a Voyager size Galvatron from scratch. And link: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...9870600&type=1

I will never see the appeal of this set that requires you to kill your Megatron's leg articulation.

Yeah, uh, no, it doesn't kill his leg articulation at all. I have the toy right in front of me, and using the chest as a crotch piece doesn't hinder leg articulation. Do you even own this toy?

Yes, I do.

Position it the way they do in the first photo with the custom chest on it, with the old chest plate pushed all the way down in the position it goes for vehicle mode (under the upper body's lower ridge). Doing this completely prevents the legs from moving forward.

See where the purple upper leg edge goes over the silver chest plate here? That blocks it from moving forward. if you push really hard it'll eventually snap the chest plate up and out of the way, but that's probably going to do damage to the toy.

If you position the old chest plate so it's not under the upper body ridge, or swing it forward first, sure. he can still move his legs forward. But they don't have it positioned like that in the photos. They have it positioned the way that blocks forward leg articulation. Since thats the only way they show it, that may be the way that it has to be for the chest part to fit. Even if it allows for it to be positioned in the looser position, it's still going to get in the way, which is bad.

looks intriguing...

See, I left it slightly popped out (as in, not locked under the ridge as it would be in alt mode), which preserves the leg articulation, as I figured that's how they would've done it.

If the only way it works IS to legitimately nerf the leg articulation, then yeah, it's a no-buy, but I feel the way I did it will still work with the add on.
G1_Cindersaur
that looks like a complete piece of shit.

Well, hopefully you're right. But every photo of it with the new chest on has his legs completely straight, and the old chest piece pushed in all the way. Any time his legs are posed, the new chest plate isn't on, and he's showcasing the cannon instead.
Sinnertwin
I suppose we'll have to wait and see. It should be feasible, considering all I did was keep the chest popped out very slightly, as opposed to locking it in completely.

It's not a bad looking add on; it'd be a shame if they totally sunk it right out of the gate by bricking the mold's legs.

We could be getting three different Megatrons...but not one damn Galvatron. Because that makes total sense. Argh.
Kusanagi
... Galvatron still ends up shorter than both Optimus and Rodimus in the Protector armor.
hXcpunk23
This is ok for those that want something along these lines, but it's honestly just casted Universe Galvatron parts (maybe even the KO), from the looks of it. You could literally have a handful of Radicons cast these for much less, I'm sure. But, to each his own. I did a custom Galvy from that mold & I didn't mod it all that much.

Not knocking this, but it just feels really uninspired and underwhelming.......but much better than that old mock up we saw that looked like a 5 year old's kindergarten project.

Same boat dude...

So let me get this right... Instead of just replacing the default chest and having a snap on *or easy to glue on* "crown" piece, they decided it would be easier to make it all 1 giant option part that cant stow in vehicle mode and requires partsforming.

Then to stow said option part in vehicle mode they went to the trouble of replicating the original wfc cannon, added a giant ugly tumor to the back, and after all that didn't bother to retool the cannon tip to look more like galvatrons.

Could someone PLEASE fix this problem and just make a crown piece, new chest part, and new cannon tip and sell it on shapeways? Its really all the figure needs and it wouldn't require parts-forming, wouldn't hinder articulation, and would probably look better than this.
[Wing_Saber-X]
do want. seems like a badass kit

Skimmed thru the thread. Didn't see it. So let me be the first to say...

"Megatron?? Is that you?!"

*Finds Keitaro in ashes a few seconds later*

Damn.

...

Anyway...forgive my ignorance, but will this require the head to be replaced, or is the crown just stuck on top of the existing head?
cylor
Nobody knows for sure. My guess is you have to disassemble the original head and replace just a part of it with the upgrade.
Blitz.
I think the idea is genius since the WFC toy could so easily be changed to galvatron however I think taking details from the gen toy was not the way to go
UTF
G1Prowl
Damn, might be easier AND cheaper to get a Universe Galvy junker and just do the head swap.
aprim
Man, I really would toss my money at a Gavatron, but I don't know about this one. Its still a little too small.
Mixmastah
I'm guessing the kit will be black then? How will it look on the rage over cybertron version.
Spurt Reynolds
You know they're getting lazy when they actually use parts from Universe Galvatron.
Kaijumaster
GAG! the front part of WFC Megatrons cannon is very easily removed and swapped out, if they had done something more Galvatron looking I would buy it in a heart beat.

Yeah, this is one I'd rather see Hasbro of TFCC do. a new cannon front piece and new head, bit of paint and it's Galvatron clear as day. alternate transformation and it even turns into a very close approximation of his G1 alt mode.
TWINTURBO
I like the head, it would work pretty good with my WFC Galvatron I made, but the waist ..... no so hot.
Cadbane
Hope the final quality won't screw up, i am sold for this kit!
gothsaurus
I want to see a set like this... but definitely not on Shapeways, as someone suggested. While it's a neat option, it's still never a substitute for actual molded-in-color SMOOTH parts. Plus I haven't seen a nice, transparent option out of it. Would definitely rather see a custom set than a Shapways set.

Ah well, if not perfect, at least it's a step in the right direction. A new head (or add on) is nice. Clear cannon also nice.

It's weird to see the hate for this. It honestly looks like a kit that'll be $30 tops and beats that fucked up classics/universe Galvaron. So, I dunno... think it's pretty neat little kit for what it's worth.
jbz
I think it's more hate towards a lack of a true, larger sized Galvatron from anyone. This just happens to be the closest thing so we use this thread to bitch about it. that's how it is for my anyway

They always show up to hate early b4 the real talk starts. Remember when the hegemon first got revealed? EVERY ONE bashed it except a few of us. Then the more common sensed people came out to talk.

Ha. Very true.

Looks interesting, but I think I'd pass on it. My Universe Galvatron should suffice for the time being.

Bring on Defensitron Galveston!

Time go get my hands on United Darkside Megatron. I need a better Galvatron for the deluxe scale.
PrimulArchangel
very cool but not cool enough to drop 30$ plush shipping on.

it's true, my issue with it though is A) You can at best hope to make an updated version of the G1 TOY not the animation model & B) If they were going to create a new cannon then I would have preffered a more animation accurate model than what we got, since the front piece is very easily swapped.

I guess I should say I don't hate on it, but I think it's a band-aid on a broken elbow for what could be done with this mold to make it Galvatron.

Same for me. I'm happy for those who like this, but I'll keep my universe toy until a Hegemon-style Galvatron shows up

This is pretty much my position as well.
Quint
I Like this a lot! Especially since the other classics or whatever versions look like total crap. And only for $30+.

Hate-triot
I was excited... then I saw it was another Partsformer. No bueno.
