Toyworld TW-H01 Hardbone Colored Prototype Pictures

Posted on 01-10-2013 at 01:52 AM by ORIO under 3rd Party Unlicensed
Hardbone8
Holy Headmasters! Third party group, Toyworld, has updated their website with new colored prototype pictures of their upcoming homage to Generation 1 Hardhead. This figure, named "Hardbone", appears to be a faithful representation of Hardhead and includes a flip down chestplate, a knife with storage in his leg and of course, a fully transformable headmaster figure.
No release date is given other than 2013 but the pricing for the figure is listed at around $73.00.

Check out all the new images by clicking the title bar.

Seriously, that guy looks beautiful.
Shockblaster
He looks awesome. The minicon cockpit rocks!
process
I have some nitpicks, but overall that's pretty damn good.
Shockwave9227
Lookin' good.
barrelks
That is one bright figure. Not sure if I need it with the Headrobots version, but with all the FP ones coming out, I may to add this to the pile.

More dick jokes

It looks good. Way better than I was expecting.
Prime Evil
Whoa! I was gonna pass on this guy but i think i will reconsider. Looking really good.
Astronopolis
wow its gorgeous. i love the headrobots version, but this one is looking better and better...
originaljk
Looks as tough they made some tweeks to the initial prototype and added details. Diggin it! Everyone preorder their Hardbone from Toyworld. That's just funny.

2013: Year of the Headmasters

Gimme. That's a strangely vibrant green they picked for him, but I actually like it a lot.

And yeah. Grind Rod? Hardbone? Seriously guys?
Bountyan
The colors look kinda off to me, but mold wise I think this looks great. Looks so much better than FP headmasters yet the price is about the same. I think this will be a buy from me.
ryu hayabusha
looks great, i think ill stick with my upgrade set though on this one. he will be great for the people that didn't get the set
CodeXCDM
...a Head Master named Hard Bone...

Before anyone translates and informs ToyWorld that they *really* should change the name of this...

...let's just fill this thread with dick jokes and get it over with.

Boneheaded comments aside... wonder how this figure compares when standing beside an HR Hardhead... namely if that kit could even be used here... which would be pretty interesting.

Figure looks nice overall... but that name... needs... changing... ASAP.
OptionZero
I never got the Headrobots version so I'm very interested, but is his green supposed to be so brightly neon? I wouldn't mind a more muted color.

It's big, though, and only $72? The headmaster looks good

Also, the aesthetic is suitably blocky, but not too much so, and looks to fit in well with Function-X.

Although bear in mind, that's more or less the price in Asia. Their Throttlebots are listed at $45 on the item description page, but even from their own store, they were $60 shipped. So the final cost on this guy's probably going to be closer to $90.
Astronut
oh, I get it Hardbone, HEADmaster. Well played, TW.

He looks pretty sweet, gotta say! So far TW has nothing but winners.
bumblebeeprime2
looks so cool ! i betting it will be somewhere up in the 100 dollars mark! hmmmm should i buy toys now or wait and save up for BOTCON 2013????? HMMMMMMM so manny gooddyies!!!!! what should i do!
Dream Warrior
Good God, that green is blinding me. Still the mold is ace, so it's a buy.
zebramatt
So, three things:

1. As discussed elsewhere, the original was named Hardhead presumably as a nod towards the Headmaster gimmick; which means this guy's a Bonemaster? i'm just putting that one out there.

2. The colours definitely need a little tweaking. The green's too bright at the moment. Not by much, but yeah. I'm sure that won't stand in the way of me (or anyone else) picking him up - and maybe it's just the light conditions / camera. Lookin' pretty good though!

3. I know this image is just showing us the knife scabbard but with FP's Code starting that ridiculous ankle tilts meme round here, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this:

Look, everyone: he has ankle tilts!
Astronut
oh, there's a new picture or Aurora as well, he looks awesome!
Should this be merged with the existing hardhead/bone thread?
llamatron
Oh neat that looks great. A slightly darker green would be nice though.
Hellscream12345
look more modern compare to the FP one, and he's huge, like mmc 6 shots just shorter.
TheMarkSewell
I'm torn.

On one hand: This mold has really grown on me the more I've looked at pictures of it, I REALLY like the new color scheme as far as the body goes, I'm digging the weapon loadout, and I want to support their continued choice of extremely suggestive names.

On the other hand: I do already have a perfectly good Hardhead, and I think I like him better as an Ultra than the tallish Deluxe I expect this to be, and the colors on the head on this guy make him just not look like Hardhead to me in robot mode. Not sure if the grey has to go or if just a yellow faceplate would do the trick. Probably the latter What is it with 3rd party Headmasters and miscolored faceplates lately? Haha

EDIT: Er...wait is this bigger than I think it is?

Grind Rod is basically a smallish Deluxe, so Hardbone is hovering in the range of smallish Voyager.
TFao
The final color of GrindRod was a lot different than what was initially shown. So this retina searing green may be slightly different on the final product.

I must say, I'm very impressed with this figure though.

Yeah, I see that now. Thanks. I'm in the process of shooping a mostly accurate size comparison with FP Chromedome for those who are interested. Gimme a sec.

EDIT: Here you go. Should be roughly correct. I found pictures of each of them taken at similar angles side by side with Grind Rod so I could scale them.

Sean Whitmore
I received my FP Code today, so I happened to have Universe Hardhead out to compare them. And while I do like him a lot (with the Headrobots upgrade, probably goes without saying), I'm not as completely married to the idea of keeping him as I once was.

Plus, I'm eventually gonna get off my ass and customize my Stronghold, and it'll be nice not to have two Headmasters sharing the same mold.

So this guy's got a shot. Though I'll likely wait to see if FP is coming out with a new Hardhead too.
Tyjos
Go ahead and take my money!

Awesome! This one for sure I'll be getting he looks incredible.

I'm sure the color will change - a lot, just like their GR /TW-02
Josh
Ooh! I love how INTENSE that green is!

This ain't too shabby!

Their immediate plans were for Chromedome, Weirdwolf, Skullcruncher, Mindwipe, Brainstorm, and Minerva. So Hardhead's seemingly in the clear on that front.

And FP strikes me as a group far less likely to bite at another group's heels, so that this has been revealed in full, FP probably isn't looking to add him to their roster any time soon.

Cool, thanks for the info. Bummed to see Highbrow isn't on the list either, though.

Wonder if we are still getting the United retool of Warpath from Takara. If I man-up and get this, and Takara brings out one, there is gonna be a whole herd of Hardheads in my classics display.

Personally, that one never interested me. Both because of the size, and because in my mind, the tank-barrel-in-the-chest thing is uniquely Warpath's.

*DAT GREEN*
Just nitpicking: would have preferred a head which is more cartoon accurate and for a tank, I think a more darker jungle green would be suitable than a bright green color.
zebramatt
My initial reaction to the colour was that a more military green would suit the alt mode better but in truth, the bright green is closer to the G1 toy. It's still too neon on Hardskull there, mind you!
archieboy
I'll buy if they fix the color. Olive green please.
zephon
looks like a lot of us are gonna get some head this 2013.

I like the tank mode a lot as well. Wonder how FP's version would look beside this?
ORIO
If the give it an alternate comic/cartoon head I'll be instant sold

Do you think it was intentional? In my language Hardbone, literally translated, would metaphorically mean "tough guy" because, you know, in Italian a bone is just a bone
I never know if those ambigous 3rd party names are just naively attached, or if they are intentionally playing dumb...

Anyway, Hardbone looks really great but I don't need it, I'm happy with my Universe/HR version. I really hope that TW will eventually make a figure that I'm interested in, as I've passed everything they've made up until now.
Please make a Scorponok or a Galvatron...
Hicks_Royel
Yep, this'll go along nicely with f[x]-Code.

I doubt FP will make one. I remember back in the days when they made the G3 trailer, Venksta saying that FP really suffered from competition with the BTS one.
I think they'll steer away from Hardhead and Brainstorm as Hardbone and HR Savant are coming. The only exception is Mindwipe, but I think this is due to the fact that HR Darksol is not for everyone and there is more room for competition. Darksol's Headmaster has a batmode instead of a botmode, and with the cape and all it is going to be very far from Mindwipe's standard look.

I for one might end up getting both and repurpose Darksol as an original character.
