Not to be outdone by Maktoys, TFC Toys have also released new images of their upcoming figure “Detective”, which is their take on Generation 1 Autobot Hound, and is also through to be intended to fill in that Hound sized gap in your Masterpiece collections (at least until the official one comes along, Takara-Tomy willing).
These images show both the robot and alternate form of TFC’s version of Hound. Additionally, courtesy of TFW2005 member Cheem the Rup, we have some useful comparison images of both the TFC and Maketoys takes on Hound. Check it all out attached to this post.

Necroposting but I love this take on it – it kind of explains why someone like Ironhide who really wouldn't be that big in vehicle mode (I've seen a Vanette in person, they're not a ton bigger than the Scion xB I drive now) would be on the bigger side of the carbots in scale. Hound, Trailbreaker, and Ironhide are all the guys more built for combat whereas someone like Sunstreaker had another function before the war and wouldn't be as combat-ready.
That said, I'm strongly considering this guy for $40. I'm not into Hound enough to want a super toon-accurate version even if I know he's not gonna be TOO close aesthetically to the rest of my MPs, but for BBTS' sale price I'm having a hard time saying no.

I picked up Detective Hound a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale on BBTS. My figure is actually really solid and all the joints are stiff. The only issue I have with mine is the Jerry Can weapon is so loose that it does not stay in gun mode or can mode. Does anyone have a fix for it? I might just glue it together in can mode. I'm glad that was the only issue I had with it.

Just FYI, this guy is on sale at BBTS along with Ironhide and Ratchet for a steal; a lot of the fine TFC products are.
For $39.99, I can deal with his short comings.
Old Soldiers OS-02 Detective
I read he has mixed reviews, but I wanted a bigger and more pine dark green colored Hound for my OS collection and this look a winner.
He can go in my Dreamwave / IDW Chug or OS G1.
I have FansToys hound and he is perfect for MP and show accuracy, but I do like, no need, a bigger and darker pine Hound.
Electro Rush
That Skullface review was awesome, almost felt like a Thew Knockoff Beatdown. Between that and John Garringer's review of the TFC Ironhide (which also broke on camera!), I'm avoiding TFC's attempts at MP figures like the plague.

Does it take the crown from Sonicron, though?
I got one for $20 and still feel slightly ripped off. I keep it around just to remind me how bad third party products can be at their worst.

That really is a perfect review for this turd. Detective is unquestionably the worst transforming toy I've handled in quite some time. I'm just glad mine was 'blessed' with a missing thumb which allowed me to easily return it for a refund.
I actually like almost everything I've handled of TFC's toys. They usually have well thought out transformations and an overall decent presentation. This thing did not feel like one of their products to me.
duttry98
HA HA HA THAT WAS AWESOME! What a total POS that figure is.

This just popped on my YouTube feed and yea, hilarious.
"Final thoughts? All in all, not a bad figure."
Yea, Bobby Skullface is the best.

GOAT review. A MUST watch.

Saw Bobby Skullface's review.
Geez… hurts watching it, but glad for the warning.

Check out the BensCollectables review, he seems to have gotten a good one.

Bummer, mine is in my Pile O' Loot and this makes me want to cancel it. I was just about to ship it too. Hopefully this is an isolated incident and hopefully other who got this one will post soon with good news.

Just got mine today. He looks great, but I already knew that from photos. That's all the kind words I have I'm afraid. Either I got a rotten one or the toy just sucks.
– Plastic doesn't feel as rugged as I had hoped and even though the toy is huge it feels really light. I've been spoiled by DX9, BadCube, MMC, Fansproject, FansToys & MakeToys so handling something that feels lesser than those is kind of a bitter pill.
Most joints are extremely loose, the individually articulated fingers are so loose they freely flop around. One hand is even missing a thumb.
Shoulder joints are extremely tight, which makes the whole shoulder assembly break free from the torso during posing because they are attached via one very tiny tab per arm that doesn't have a secure hold. They are also on sliders which are really loose, so it's hard to keep the shoulders in a stable position.
Seats on back of legs just freely flop around, no matter the configuration.
Transformation is overly complicated and unintuitive, and while the Jeep mode is by far my favorite alt mode of the available Hounds, getting there is so unpleasant that I'll never do it again.
So yeah, bleh. I may very well have a crap copy (the one in BensCollectibles video review seemed fine) but I'm going to use the missing thumb as a reason to just return this thing and not look back. Which sucks, because out of the three available Hounds this was the one that looked best to me.

Whoops! Thanks!

I think you wanted the GunDog thread.

Got mine yesterday.
Love it. So much character and a solid build. He's a little hulk, although the yellow paint stopes on the arm aren't terribly clean. More like Takaras quality paint in that spot.

Did you get yours yet? I'm anxious to read some in hand comments. Mine should arrive tomorrow or the next day.

I am far from TFC's biggest fan, I thought they lagged behind whilst other companies progressed but after purchasing the first 2 Old Soldier figures I was blown away, I love them so pre-ordered Detective last night.
I see a lot of people bagging on this guy which is a shame, the face is superb and the jeep mode is utterly brilliant.
Can't wait to see how Hades and their Seacons pan out.
Houndvoice
Might get this… might.
TFC really has outdone the competition with this figure's head, facial expression and alt mode for sure.
