Post a pic this is news. At least for me.

OK had a chance to stop looking at the picture and noticed the price.

WHY OH WHY would you put out a figure for $70 when people are bitching about a $38 version that belongs to a line that people have committed too?

exomega255
wow, where did this come from?
RDprime
Who is this supposed to be?

Thanks for adding Igears "Cogz" got it.

Wow, yeah, $70 is way to much...christ I was bitching about the $60 stunticons
Jehsee
This is Gears, right? I think I remember seeing a colored 3D-render of this a few months back... I'll see if I can dig it up.
Zambot
haha, "Continuously Variable". Literal definition names.
StayingInTheBox
... where did this come from?

Yeah, I seem to vaguely remember some renders as well. This is the first information that I have seen regarding an actual release/prototype however.

EDIT: ^ There they are. You are one step ahead of me

EDIT EDIT: Notice that they removed that molded autobot logo.
Bountyan
I remember seeing this a long time ago.

Found an old thread for it: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transf...-teaser-2.html
RDprime
The renders kinda look like the prototype...maybe it's just because of the gray that it's not translating as well. Something is missing the mark and I can't quite put my finger on it.
supervir2
It is ok - no enamored with the hard lines
Bountyan
I might consider getting this over iGear's. More expensive, but looks more complex and articulated. Also seems more classics style over articulated G1, which I prefer.

This reminds me of the Fansproject Warbot/Parallax look. Chunky, hard edge shapes everywhere.
Zambot
Yeah, I remember everyone at the time talking about how ballsy it was to sculpt an actual Autobot symbol right into the frickin' toy! Haha. Looks like they removed it though.

Yeah... the details look washed-out... he looks kinda soft... edges are lacking crispness... kinda like the Herc bots.
eriku
Hmm. I feel like 'once upon a time' I would have gotten excited over this, but now it looks like...you know how Hasbro will make a toy of a character and it's cool but it doesn't really look how you wish it would? It's like that.

iGear's Gogz looks exactly how I want Gears to look.

That said I'm priced out of both of them unless someday it's possible to buy Cogz by himself without a "because this is the one you want" markup tacked on.
StayingInTheBox
Just noticed the price tag too. $70 for this ...
Jehsee
Don't have an MP Lambor myself... how big does that make this guy? A decent-sized deluxe at least, right?

Yeah ... I'd say a small deluxe I guess. Maybe Classics Bumblebee height.
Bountyan
I wish more third parties would just straight up give us measurements.

No worse than the $60 scouts we're paying for these days...
The Crow
I like Cogz WAY better!

Motormasterrrrr

This should tell you how tall Cogz is, he is about 2 mm shorter than Hench.

TFao
Since I dropped out of the MW line, I will definitely be keeping my eyes on this one.
CyclonuS_ZerO
Um yeah, easy pass.
Spyne98
I was just going to post this. Where did he come from?
Robogeek28
I can't get into this guy at all.

All of the SXS Stuff appears to be expensive. This is an easy pass.
Gundamben831
I am seriously so damn confused so is there a second version of Gears that is being made by another company???
Ultra BuckNutz
I wish Maketoys would make some more minibots. I really want iGear's Gears, but not for $55. When I saw that someone else was making a Gears, I got excited, but I like the look AND price of this one even less than iGear's version.
rosewater
38 bucks from igear, shipped.
starscream-99
With everything coming out, this is an easy pass.

Only if you buy the set for 75.98. Igear doesn't offer them individually. Other retailers do at a premium.
Sean Whitmore
Yeah, this is for a much bigger Gears fan than I. I'm more than happy with Igear's cheaper, more toon-accurate minibot.
TigerBlade
Erm.....why? iGear's effort shits on this for literally half the price.
Sean Whitmore
No Gears for years and now two of them. What the hell?

I imagine 2014 is when we'll get 3 different companies making a Trailbreaker.
Stygian360
Hmmm, not as loyal to the G1 look as iGears upcoming MW version, but what's not to like about a Gears homage? Trigger officially pulled.

Sometimes it's just nice to see a fresh coat of paint on an old concept, so I have zero problem that this one doesn't stay 100% faithful to the Gears motif. iGears version isn't a 100% nail on the head either. This one is just different enough to pique my interest.
RDprime
After looking at the proto images there just seems like there's so much arm and back kibble to it. Sort of half thought out. Again it's a prototype image, but there are better third party items out there that show far greater feats of engineering for a portion of the price.
robwhit1
Oh so glad to see this. This is the first 3P item I have been able to pass on this year. I have no clue how I can cover everything I have. Glad I do not have to add to pile.
iconscons
Igears looks better, and I still won't get it (I did get hench and ufo, though I regret ufo). This new gears is laughable at that price.
rosewater
Looks like it came from Blocko Land. So very many polygons!
DethPike
Not while Igear still exists.
MACRAPTRON
This sucks, pass.
Scaleface
I was for that price this was a larger size Deluxe or Voyager figure. Then it would be worth the price. I mean I never thought we should have to stick with "it was small in 1984, so we MUST release a small figure in 2013!" logic. Why shouldn't truck like this be as big as G1 Trailbreaker or movie Ironhide?

100% agreed... not into "mini" figs at all. I actually really dig this guy... if the final comes out looking as good as the renders I'll be very tempted. Feels more like a new character to me than it does Gears... but I'm all for that. Drop the price to the $50-$55 range and I'll probably bite.
Timesynch
Looks like it might fit in with ToyWorld's not-Throttlebots as far as size and aesthetics go, perhaps. But with iGear's Cogz in the Mini-Warrior line, this seems a bit redundant (and iGear's is cheaper, smaller, and more geewun accurate). This would be cool for a diehard Gears fan, I suppose.
Transbot90210
iGear's version is not smaller. If it is it isn't by much.
Megatron31
that thng is pretty awesome looking

kinda like it better than igears
