TFW2005 boards member LazyAza has brought us some new renders of MMC’s Kultur figure – also known as Tarn, the leader of the Decepticon Justice Division from IDW’s More than Meets the Eye comics series.
Renders of an earlier version of this figure had previously been seen and discussed at great length, however it appears MMC has taken the fan feedback into consideration and revised him to be far more accurate to his comic appearance. Thanks to TFW2005 boards member Cheem The Rup, we have some great comparison pics – both with the first version of the render and his comic model – waiting for you to check out after the jump.
Sound off on what you think of this after the break!

Wow, nice work! The gun mount looks awesome, too! In my mind, that was particularly necessary. The stock one is way too huge.

Small photo dump – finally got around to painting the head and realized I hated it. It fit inside the bot during transformation but the dimensions felt too contrained, so I made a brand new one based on the Flametoys sculpt. Eithe way, have my finished version now.

NICE

Finally got my hands on this figure – he's really awesome, but I didn't love the headsculpt so I made my own – looking to get this painted over the coming weekend. The mask can be removed like on the original. Planning to also make a new mount for his cannons – currently using one I bought off Cults but I'd like to make something more streamlined that fits the altmode.

Autobot Burnout
Yeah, I have Legacy Tarn in my BBTS POL but I'm not getting rid of Kultur since he scales perfectly with the rest of the MMC D-Squad, while the Legacy can go stand with the Hasbro "Neo-G1" Decepticons on their shelf.
Plus, in your case, Tarn is more than just Roller "in your head" since the figure was designed before the ass-pull reveal, and as such the face behind the Decepti-mask is supposed to be Roller, as everybody thought it was him (and really, it should have). I know the orange 'Autobot' version was retooled to have Glitch's face, ironically, but the last Kultur re-issue had the Roller face still.

Same here. What stops me is appreciation of MMC – and the size. In my head he can still be Roller or a counter to Magnus.

I'm a bit rusty with the software so I appreciate the info there.
Hopefully Shapeways will go through with the print, I had to come up with a pretty big sprue just to get a strong material available as an option.

Exaggeration in CAD software is visual-only. It doesn't change your measurements, only how objects appear on your screen. This is useful for analyzing slight curves, like what you might see on a terrain model or such, where elevation might vary only within 1m over 1km of distance. You can increase the vertical exaggeration 10x to make those changes much more obvious.
In this case, your render looks stretched 2x vertically.
This shouldn't affect your output, if the units are correct.
Hyoumaru
If it is, I have no idea. I entered the exact measurements as I took them.
I put in an order for a test print so we'll see what gives.

Is your CAD software showing a 2:1 exaggeration on the Y-axis?
Hyoumaru
Trying to make a 3D printed replacement using the other ratchet piece, but even after taking measurements and double-checking my math, I don't know, something feels "off" here.

My Kultur remains as sturdy as he was when I pulled him out of the box, so I'd like to think what happened with yours was a rare QC situation. Particularly since MMC is relatively decent with theirs.
Although, it could be just a situation of "Your mileage may vary"
Hyoumaru
So the ratchet part in the left hip of my Cylindrus, a retool of Kulter, has snapped in half and no longer works. Wondering if this has happened to anybody's Kulturs around here. The left leg joint isn't floppy since the overall tolerance is good, but still.
Probably going to try and 3D-print a replacement part, hoping that works tolerance-wise.

That's exactly what I've been doing as well. But honestly the Legacy Tarn is almost just as fine in alt mode so I'm tempted to sell the MMC version too.
Mechman42
I've seen them going $175-200 on here every couple weeks.
Honesty
I’d be almost tempted to sell mine. Since mine is in perpetual alt mode now especially (Flame Toys’ version is my display piece in bot mode).
However I do like having one in alt mode.
Is he pretty pricey now?
Zyros
Finding this guy is brutal right now – has there been any word if they ever plan on doing a re-issue?
In the event that anyone is selling a copy, I've been trying to track one down and haven't had any luck. Please elt me know!
