Reprolabels September Update

I really like the Hot Spot set. The other ones are nice too. I need to buy me some reprolabels soon. I got a ton of classics that could use some cool stickers.

After all of the negative comments in the Hegemon thread, I'm really surprised they went ahead and released the set as-is. The weird thing is that the sample pics on the reprolabels site don't even show the bot pics hardly at all. There are better pics in the thread here that show much more detail. I personally won't be picking up that set, as I don't like the chest swirls and I don't understand why they put inner arm details on top of the forearms.

Because that was the only place they fit. And there are optional chest decals without the swirls.

Yeah, they still don't look right at all.

I do find myself usually really liking the overall look of the reprolabels sets, but still only using some of the stickers rather than all of them, but with this one in particular, it just doesn't work for me. The placement is all wrong and it makes Megs look too much like G1 rather than an updated Classics figure.

Can't please everybody. If I make it G1, people say its not Classics enough. If I update it, people say its not G1 enough. Can't design two sets for each figure.

Oh god...I nees to find a Deep Dive now. Killer Whale "conversion" is way too intense!

The Hegemon set is disappointing.

I like the Defensor reference in the Hot Spot set. I may have to get that down the line.

This. I think the shiny stickers stick out like a sore thumb. Also no eyebrow sticker?

I agree. Needs to be more G1 cartoon Megatron and less G1 toy Megatron

Why do they keep making stickers to cover molded detail? Do they not realize this is a terrible idea?

Also, tacky stuff like Defensor's face on a flat panel needs to stop. The sticker designs need to go back to the style of adding detail rather than looking like stickers from the 80's which were designed to add detail on flat areas and is out of place on modern toys which actually have that kind of molded detail now. Add to that, don't distract.

This set is very dear to me because this is the first time I suggested something on Reprolabels forum and they made it!

Somebody needs to design a new baseball capped head for Deep Dive and we'll have Cutter!

Dr. Wu could make a tiny Cutter figure the size of his Partners figures for Deep Dive.

Did you design the set for Hegemon?

The whole G1 vibe is why I mostly have gotten reprolabels for Prime and Animated. I understand where they are coming from but my classics styled figures I personally dont want all of the 80s looking decals all over them. Id prefer simpler sets like missing lights, bot mode details, etc. Just have to be picky on which sets I buy.

They TOTALLY missed on Hegemon. I was looking forward to it for minor detailing needs. They shoulda just done some of the yellow detailing in the ab area and the black "eyebrows" and a few mor MINOR detailing. They blew it and now I'll just order deception logos and be done with it. Super disappointed.

How can you not want set of G1 accurate labels? I was always disappointed that the animation model of Megatron was so missing all the toy details!

I don't really hate the old G1 toy look but the Hegemon mold screams show accurate, then they choose to doodoo (my 4 kids vocabulary is wearing off on me hahaha) it up with stickers that look like they belong on a 30 year old toy. I'm not mad by any means just disappointed. I hope the Ratchet & Ironhide sets turn out better.

Personally I wanted to see a G1 Megatron with the original deco, but a better mold in robot mode, and that's what this is.

I totally agree. I haven't bought upgrade stickers from Reprolabels for a long time because of this. They seem to have lost their edge and not releasing worthwhile upgrade stickers that 'add' to the toy. Instead they seem to want to convert them to vintage or some other silly thing.

Build on what's there, don't try to remake it.

There are exceptions however like the Deep Dive set which turned out great.

Maybe next time we should do three or four sets for each figure? G1 toy accurate, g1 show accurate, classics update, etc etc etc.

Maybe you should. Nothing wrong with options. I'd be all over the battle tanker set if it wasn't for those stupid cartoon tanker sides. I just want CHROME, dammit.

99% of the time I like the reprolabel updates for Hasbro stuff, it seems like the third party updates are the lacking sets. They try too hard or something.

The Hot Spot and Deep Dive sets both look GREAT! The Deep Dive set is brilliant beyond words. The Hot Spot set really makes that figure shine, and all of the labels really enhance the figure it looks like.

In contrast, the Tankor and Hegemon sets are awful, Hegemon in particular. There are a few labels on the Tankor set that fit well enough, but most of the labels end up cluttering up the figure more. The set for Hegemon just doesn't work at all. It's a good example of what happens when G1 is shoe-horned onto a figure that homages a G1 character.

Hot Spot's sickers kind of make we want to get him, although I still don't think I will. I want Octane's, since the figure is so plain without them.I also like Deep Dive's GI Joe inspired stickers, but I still don't really care much about owning him.

Now that will be fun to talk about in a couple of weeks. Will you bring you pr presumably reprolabeled Hegemon to the Gates meet-up? I'd like to see the stickers in person.

That Set for Hot Spot has convinced me to pick him up.

Would have picked up the Hegemon set if it had been more G1 show/IDW comic accurate than G1 toy. I think there is a whole host of stickers that could have possibly gone better for the chest. I seem to recall a multipanel in Megatron Origins where they had multiple chests and details for them as they showed Megs transformation from a miner/underground movement leader into the tyrant he is today. Can't remember it in detail.... but I'll bet there would have been some good detail to work with there for the set.

Love the Hot Spot stickers. Now he looks less like an Inferno repaint.

Going to pass on the Hegemon stickers and make due with a big decepticon symbol on his chest.

Is there a G1 set for MP-11?

Would anyone else be interested if Reprolabels made another upgrade set for PRID Optimus Prime with red vinyl stickers to go over the crystal blue plastic? Cos I'm really surprised that they missed their opportunity to do that. Also while searching their sight i was very dissapointed that in their Universe 2.0 Prowl set there are no stickers for the doors. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has that dreaded paint fade on them and they now look fugly and a sticker set would solve that no end! Anyone else agree?

I wish I could get the Prime Soundwave stickers without having to get the Megatron ones.

Also wish the Battle Tanker stickers had chrome sides as an option ..

Feel free to request it on their forum. That's how the G1 toy version of of Hegemon got done.

I just ordered the Deep Dive GI Joe set. Looks BEAUTIFUL. Also ordered the old Trailbreaker from movie Voyager Ironhide set!

On the off chance that someone here ordered the Hegemon set, used the cartoon chest instead of the toy one, and still has the unused sticker sheet... Would you be willing to part with it? I only want the toy-accurate chest stickers.
