Third party group Planet X have unveiled an unexpected new concept – City Guardian. City Guardian is a recolored version of their debut release Genesis, in a deco inspired by the Omega Sentinels and Guardian Robots of Transformers lore.
If you’d like to see this become reality, sound off in the discussion link below as Planet X is “testing it for a run”. With enough feedback hopefully we’ll see this become reality!

I still want Genesis at some point. Though this would be awesome to have two of. In a fantasy situation, cause 1200 for three figures is a bit much

I would love to get one of those stands for my Genesis. I wonder if they will be sold seperately.

Anyways, TFcon Toronto updated photos:

Cross linking threads doesn't always work smoothly. I've tried as well, but just in case it is post #2927

I've been able to pull of a base mode for Genesis, sort of a communication array… The hands form a sentry turret. Mind tho, pictures aren't that great…
The top part of the base seems like a seat with a control panel, legends figures fit quite nicely!

Looks great!!

I thought about this as a custom! Would love to see it happen, I would prefer it to have the other head though and I think the colours are a little too blocky, in concept though, this is something I would definitely buy!!

Genesis has a completely unadvertised but very impressive rocket launch pad mode. It must have been intentional as an Easter egg of all Easter eggs
Also rumor has it that Genesis and Utopia were from the same designer, just working for different companies. I sort if see it in the thoughtfulness but the source material is quite different

While there is an unofficial mode that sort of qualifies, Genesis isn't a city or base.

Yeah, I am mostly an MP collector, with the odd classics, FoC, and vintage G1 items strewn about. This fact wouldn't really be the deciding one for me, if I was wavering between the two.
Interesting. Though neither would likely ever spend time in their city/base modes past 1 or 2 initial transformations, it is good info to have. Even as a kid (I had Metroplex, but none of the other bases), the citybots/basebots never really interested me as anything other than immense robotic titans.
In fact, most of what I am hearing is about what I had expected, based solely on pics. It does seem that Utopia is somewhat more impressive overall, albeit not as loved of a character (by me). I definitely will have to think about it a bit more.

I have both
Aesthetics are subjective, but Utopia is g1, Genesis is WFC/FOC. YMMV
Build quality on both is top notch.
Articulation is excellent both both, but Utopia has better balance by virtue of design. Strong joints in the lower body and wide feet help immensely. Genesis has smaller legs and really heavy arms and torso which need more care. They can hit amazing poses for big dudes
Utopia has a much cleaner transformation, I could do it with minimal help from instructions. Genesis has so much stuff going in in the torso I found it annoying, particularly since the result was only marginally convincing. It's very Serenity, which I liked, but Utopias three modes are just terrific. Cruiser mode is badass.

If these guys were like 250 for one I would probably buy two considering their origin, but it would be kinda crazy and fun

Yeah, my gut feeling was that Utopia offered a bit more bang for the buck – even if I like OS more as a character than Metroplex.
Thanks for the info!

I don't have Utopia, but I have ordered Dystopia. I know from hands on that Utopia stand more sturdily, but other then shoulder rotation not being strong enough I've never had any issue with Genesis, he stands just fine for everything I've done with him.

I do like the colors on this thing – tho I would have to get the original first (I would not be able to get a good night's sleep knowing I had this, and not Genesis!).
For those lucky individuals with both Genesis and Utopia: Which seems like the better overall purchase (given that they fetch around the same price)?

More like hourly.

Those guys haven't been missing any energon cubes. They must be hitting the All-You-Can-Eat Cybertronian buffet daily.

Where does this character come from

Perhaps, Genesis was a pricy figure…
