Thanks to ACtoys we have new images of the upcoming Junkion Blacksmith Generation 1 Devastator upgrade kit, JB-07. This kit appears to eliminate the need for any of the original G1 Constructicon accessory pieces needed to form Devastator.

Some additional images have also been posted, showing off what might be a Generation 2 recolor.

Take a look at all the new images after the break!

Looks good actually. If there weren't the Hercules coming out, I'd be interested
Stepper
Very similar to Encore Devastator
MACRAPTRON
LOL

Head looks good but they're bit late to the market for something like this. Theyd be better off doing something like this for any of the gestalts that havent already had attention (Computron, Abominus, etc).

With Herc, Giant and Encore coming out, the timing for the set is perfect but I need to draw the line somewhere. This would be it. Three Devi's are enough fro me.

It looks like candy

Actually, they're just selling the upgrade parts. Not Devastator himself.
Manok
Derpastator lives.
blue death
kinda pointless after the crazy devy stuff
SkywarpsNipples
Looks as if you'd get AIDS by touching that thing.

You get a sample of whatever is in that jar behind him with every purchase.

Actually if you look at the pics in the thread, you will see much better articulation then with CrazyDevy's set. Eventhough, I still think this set needs some work. Especially in the waste.
Pun-3X
Thing with Crazy Devy is the price, but I also heard that Devastator's very back heavy with the waist add-on. Like they should have moved the upper legs back further. So, if this new set fixes even that one issue (and isn't super expensive) they might have something.

I dunno, I think I'll stick with the Crazy devy set I got. I like the ball joint in the hips over the one this one shows.
dirkmagirk
it seems very similiar to crazy devys set...but ill wait to see it finished to decide on this one..but its nice
jordanimus 1
DAMN another one?!

I'm not so sure about that. If you look at Scrappers arms, they appear to have been moved back further than it normally would. I've had to do that with my Devastators to get him to "pose" right. Then there's also a little bit of fiddling to find that right spot to where Devy will stand straight without manipulating the upper legs to look like he has reverse bending knees.
jordanimus 1
Dear 3rd party customizer groups would you please get off Devastators metallic balls and make parts for other combiner teams? Can Defensor gets some love ?
StarFire_MK2
A nice kit. I wish other gestalts would get some love, though. I'm oversaturated with Devastator news right now.
StayingInTheBox
Is this on par with the CrazyDevy upgrades?
Sammael
If the quality of this ends up being decent and the total price is... dunno, $50-$60, I might bite. I skipped CrazyDevi's upgrades because of the price gouging.
SPLIT LIP
Looks terrible. Man, I had no idea Devastator was so popular people need like fifty versions of him.

Seems like Devastator is to Third Parties as Bumblebee is to Hasbro, except without the legitimate excuse of popularity over a wide demographic.

Maybe people are trying to cash in on the encore release?
king_of_forgoten
I personally am getting giant (maketoys is quickly becoming my go to third party) but what we really really need is some abominus and computron love, though ko toys is doing a version of abominus so with any luck they will start the trend

Not really because alot of us didnt bother to buy the over priced upgrades that have been released. I was paing out the a$$ for a waist or chest piece all seperate. So if this is sold as a complete set for a decent price then ill be getting it. I like the overall look of it.. And its funny to see people saying it looks bad lol , if this had been the first of the upgrades they would be loving it lol..
Tampalicious
Putting it next to HeavyLabor was a bad idea. I know mixing lines is somewhat sacreligious , but G1 Devastator is just so puny and Gobot like if you've ever held them Hercules bots in-hand.
Even when I beef up my G1s soon Devastator is so not on my want list. Actually, I just want some of the 84 cars back, probably keep them in their lil ko boxes. The classics style Decepticons just look too damn good together, throw in the fact that custom guns are now available for the seekers and the G1 Cons just look....out of scale.
Can we get a nice classics Shockwave ? G1 is still one of the best molds but like I said, mixing lines is somewhat of a no-no in my room.....

Devastator is the only one that lends himself to these kinds of upgrades. Scramble City type combiners just won't work with this kind of thing.

Think about the way the legs attach. Devastator's toy has no upper legs, just a frame you lock the legs onto. So by replacing this one piece, you can give him hip movement, and knees. Scramble City combiners have the central robot forming the upper legs. So you can't add hip movement, and you can't add knees unless you add some kind of bridge piece between the upper leg and the leg robot, and knee articulation is useless without hip movement.

Next lets go to the elbows. Devastator has them, because the lower arms attach to the arm robot via a peg. So he's got elbows right off the bat. It's easy to replace these parts with more proportional lower arms because they attach with a peg. Scramble City combiners? Nope. No elbows. You just get a fist that plugs into the arm robot. You could design a brand new lower arm to plug into that hole, but then you're changing the core design of the combined robot, adding something that was never there before. You're also making his arms incredibly long compared to the body.

Head. Usually just sits ontop of central robot head. If central robot has a neck joint, you're in luck (Bruticus) if it doesn't, you are screwed (Superion). In Defensor's case, the head is permanently attached, but it can look up and down, and it can turn, so it's good. On Menasor, you're just screwed completely because of the head being a mask. You can make the heads rotate on the others, like Piranacon and Superion though. It would require a larger head being made, that has an inner "shell" piece that goes on the central robot's head, that the actual, visible combiner head would rotate on. It's not complicated, but would require larger heads to be made, which would look pretty awful on most combiners.

This is why you don't see many useful add-ons being released for the Scramble City type combiners. There's just not anything you can do to the arms without making the combined robot look out of proportion with itself and changing it's original design. Adding leg articulation is just hopeless unless the combiner's upper legs can rotate, like on Abominus and Computron. These two are the only ones that would be able to make any use of a knee joint add-on.
JoeHavok
It looks okay, but after spending money on Crazy Devy upgrades, I just don't see the need to buy another set. I agree with another member that they should have spent time on an upgrade set that hasn't been done like Computron or Abominus. Or working on a better set for Menasor. Easy pass, but nice effort
Reggmeister23
Their gonna be making these add ons at a loss because there is no market for devastator add ons anymore.
cryotek
Easy pass. Looks to anime.
MaxLinden
This needs to stop.... Devastator is becoming like Bumblebee.... Thats a very bad thing when I actually like Devastator.
ichnach
I think it looks promising. If it is cheaper than Crazydevy and comes as a full set instead of Crazydevy's douchebag 3 little pieces for way too much money method, I would bite. Seriously, who releases forearms and hands in 2 separate packages? I'm sure these aren't final product pics and maybe they will actually make the damn thighs green like the cartoon!
Scaleface
I hope we see G1 & G2 yellow and orange sets.
zephon
I'm game as long as they're all sold in an affordable set you can get on one go. I'm thinking of getting this for encore devastator to differentiate it from the vintage one.
Shin-Gouki
I am interested depending on price. I passed on Crazy Devy because of their Crazy Price. We'll see on this set as it's all of it in one shot.

Devastator is a multiversal singularity - in toy form.

Even if I didn't get the Crazy Devy Upgrades....I am still 100% sure I'd pass on this based off of the hip joints and the thighs. So no, I would not be loving it if this were the first of the upgrades. Somehow, the aesthetics don't sit well with me on this one. Maybe if they had colored pics?

I like where this kit is going actually, I'm even surprised it took that long for another group to have a go at it. After all the whine at Crazy Devy "marketing", if another group can offer a similar product as a full set and at a reasonable cost, I'm definitly listening!

At first the Crazy Devy kit looked promising, but after a few pieces I just didn't bothered with trying to track everything, and each pieces were getting pricier for less. And after the Predaking Wings debacle, I just stopped caring about them.

So if there's another kit for Devy that I can get in one go that doesn't cost more than Devy itself, I'm in
Superquad7
I might be interested in this assuming the price isn't Crazy
Houndvoice
Looks good, but they should've presented their new bits in proper purple colour. 3rd party guys: first impression is important!

Yeah, they definately need to improve that. If they do, and it is ratcheting vs. ball jointed like the CD set, I may bit. I still want to see more out of this.

And for god sakes, please bring us these hips/waist for Omega Supreme. PLEASE.
