Thing with Crazy Devy is the price, but I also heard that Devastator's very back heavy with the waist add-on. Like they should have moved the upper legs back further. So, if this new set fixes even that one issue (and isn't super expensive) they might have something.
Dear 3rd party customizer groups would you please get off Devastators metallic balls and make parts for other combiner teams? Can Defensor gets some love ?
Devastator is the only one that lends himself to these kinds of upgrades. Scramble City type combiners just won't work with this kind of thing. Think about the way the legs attach. Devastator's toy has no upper legs, just a frame you lock the legs onto. So by replacing this one piece, you can give him hip movement, and knees. Scramble City combiners have the central robot forming the upper legs. So you can't add hip movement, and you can't add knees unless you add some kind of bridge piece between the upper leg and the leg robot, and knee articulation is useless without hip movement. Next lets go to the elbows. Devastator has them, because the lower arms attach to the arm robot via a peg. So he's got elbows right off the bat. It's easy to replace these parts with more proportional lower arms because they attach with a peg. Scramble City combiners? Nope. No elbows. You just get a fist that plugs into the arm robot. You could design a brand new lower arm to plug into that hole, but then you're changing the core design of the combined robot, adding something that was never there before. You're also making his arms incredibly long compared to the body. Head. Usually just sits ontop of central robot head. If central robot has a neck joint, you're in luck (Bruticus) if it doesn't, you are screwed (Superion). In Defensor's case, the head is permanently attached, but it can look up and down, and it can turn, so it's good. On Menasor, you're just screwed completely because of the head being a mask. You can make the heads rotate on the others, like Piranacon and Superion though. It would require a larger head being made, that has an inner "shell" piece that goes on the central robot's head, that the actual, visible combiner head would rotate on. It's not complicated, but would require larger heads to be made, which would look pretty awful on most combiners. This is why you don't see many useful add-ons being released for the Scramble City type combiners. There's just not anything you can do to the arms without making the combined robot look out of proportion with itself and changing it's original design. Adding leg articulation is just hopeless unless the combiner's upper legs can rotate, like on Abominus and Computron. These two are the only ones that would be able to make any use of a knee joint add-on.
Looks terrible. Man, I had no idea Devastator was so popular people need like fifty versions of him. Seems like Devastator is to Third Parties as Bumblebee is to Hasbro, except without the legitimate excuse of popularity over a wide demographic.

Even if I didn't get the Crazy Devy Upgrades....I am still 100% sure I'd pass on this based off of the hip joints and the thighs. So no, I would not be loving it if this were the first of the upgrades. Somehow, the aesthetics don't sit well with me on this one. Maybe if they had colored pics?
