New Headrobots - Blood and Gyro

Posted on 06-19-2010 at 09:59 PM by Deefuzz under 3rd Party Unlicensed
blood
We've got some mockups of a couple of new HeadRobots that are on the way named Gyro and Blood. We are being told that both come in the same pack, and that they are much more than just new heads.

Blood appears to be a new Bludgeon head, while Gyro looks very much like Whirl. Prototype hardcopy pictures will be coming sometime after BotCon, so stay tuned!

Who is Gyro for?

edit - Oh, okay
Chris McFeely
It seems to be... Whirl? For... the ROTF Blackout-repaint Whirl? Oh, well, he came in a two-pack with Bludgeon, so I see what they did there...

(EDIT: OP edited while I was expositin'!)

Should be interesting. May have to pick up the set now that the price has dropped, and I have a $5 off coupon. Not too interested in Bludgeon (since IMO the voyager is great), but this will hopefully make Whirl look a lot more classicy.
Scantron
Eh, if these were intended for Voyager Bludgeon and the upcoming Deluxe Tomahawk, I might consider it, but I can't see buying the Whirl/Bludgeon TRU set for this.
Houndvoice
^^ Same.

Hmmm, not particularly interested in this upgrade kit(s). That mold for Bludgeon is solid, but the Voyager one is so much better. Why not a head upgrade for that? While the head isn't bad, I know some would prefer a more G1 feel.

As for the Whirl, I couldn't give a fudge about that upgrade. I usually love the HeadRobots products (I own so many Cobra HMs), but this seems like a poor offering.
process
These heads and their intended host mold are aesthetically incompatible, in my opinion of course.
Shadowbreaker
I wonder if Gyro head will be in scale with Energon Bulkhead..... (I don't own E. Bulkhead)

Either way, I might get this for my Whirl. And Bludgeon..
MegaHavok
I think people are forgetting how small the head on blackout is it could easily be compatible with Deluxe size toys like Tomahawk. Also the bludgeon head could go great on Cybertron unicron. As with any other 3rd party it comes down to price
Fit For natalie
I... don't see the point in doing new heads for this set, considering Haskara already made a perfectly good Voyager class Bludgeon that actually looks like Bludgeon in robot mode. In fact, a new head would just complete the look.

But a new head for the Wreckage repaint? And the always terrible Blackout/Evac mold?

But Transformers toys don't have universal neck joints.

Agreed! The Hardhead kit is backwards compatible with G1 right? Maybe these can work with those two?

I'd like to hope so at least.
I really like the way that Bludgeon head looks. Especially the IDW style one.

Given the recent drop in price, coupled with the $5 coupon from Recon Ravage, this set has been increasingly becoming more desirable. THIS makes it that much more, these look really cool! NTM pretty kickass names too! Good job on these Headrobots

they cant possibly be backwards compatible with the G1 figures of Whirl and Bludgeon, neither of them were headmasters at all. i mean Bludgeons head is part of his shell and splits in two.

the IDW style Bludgeon head does look awesome but i love the head on my voyager Bludgeon i dont think id ever want to ruin him by taking that head off, as for the 2-pack this set is intended for, i would consider it for the IDW head for Bludgeon because then i could essentially have a classics IDW Bludgeon after adding some much needed paint to the deluxe figure
Toxicon
Wow, I'm really liking these. A lot. I'll have to see what they look like on the toys themselves, but these are definitely on my watch list.

Love that IDW Bludgeon.
Paxtin
Seems to me like a rather random set to make a third party upgrade for, but...Whatever. *Shrug*
Sage o' G-fruit
Those heads look awesome. I think Headrobots is turning out to be a really cool 3rd party company, really glad that they're trying things that non-headmaster owners can enjoy.
aprim
As great as Headrobots is, I can't see the need to upgrade these 2, there really not in scale with the Universe and not very desirable, with voyager bludgen being a much better mold then the deluxe it seems like a wasted opportunity to make something badass. If it was a kickass upgrade for Voyager Bludgeon I would be all over it.

And i originally thought the other fig was shockblast to Shockwave. That would be something. When I seen it was the Deluxe whirl it was a easy pass. BUt i hope it sells well for these guys cause there pretty good company.
VBBN
Damn. If these were for the MUCH superior versions I would consider them, but not for the two pack molds.
Tekkaman Blade
If this was for the ROTF voyager version of our favorite skull faced ninja robot I'd get it in a second.

What makes you so sure that they are Headmaster heads? They're name after all is HeadRobots,so meaning....they make heads not just Headmasters.

Anyways,I'm gonna hold off and see what figures these fit before I rush out and buy that crappy TRU set.

What am I supposed to be seeing in the image above Blood's name?

It's physically impossible for the G1 Bludgeon. The shell (with that Skull head) splits in half. So no way you are going to be using this upcoming kit head for that.

As for Whirl, the head looks similar to the original Whirl's head. No real difference, so no point in putting this kit head on the G1 figure (if it is possible).

These are not Headmaster heads here, people. They appear to be just custom heads that do no transform.
Grimlock_13
If it was for Voyager Bludgeo I'd buy it in a heartbeat to get rid of that goofy-ass bucktoothed head it has now. But since it'll be too small it's a pass. Too bad, I really wanted to support evrything Headrobots released
RedAlert Rescue
So they are for the Whirl Vs Bludgeon Twin pack then and not for something else....

I'd say that the Bludgeon in the twin pack is not inacurate for the appearance of the Bludgeon's Inner robot mode anyway making a samurai skull head a bit of an oddity.

Perhaps a better idea might be a helmet that fits over his head and stores between his legs in vehicle mode. or transforms into a rocket launcher structure that fits over his small cannon in vehicle mode.

Also if Whirl is a sword master I'd say that a sword for him would be nice - I can't see how the whirl set shown would work that well with the Voyager Whirl or where the weapons would even fit and I have to wonder if the observation that it goes with Tomahawk might be more appropriate after all.

You need to re-read my post there guy,I never said I was using it for a G1 set,I said I'm waiting to see what figures these go with before I go and buy the ROTF Bludgeon/Whirl set.

My apologies. I was adding a followup to an earlier comment hoping that they would be compatible for G1 figures. That is all. Also, HeadRobots is known for making Headmasters. Hence why blue death is somewhat confused. All we have seen before now have been Headmaster related things.

As for what figures, I'm not sure what else there would be besides the RotF Bludgeon/Whirl set. From what we know now (which is little), they are designed for that 2-pack. However, I hope I am wrong. I hope they will also have a new head for the Voyager Bludgeon. I prefer that mold. Furthermore, I hate that Blackout mold. Looks horrible. I see no reason to waste time on it.

EDIT: This is the weakest offering thus far from HeadRobots. What happened to the headmaster lizard idea? I'd rather see that than this offering.
BScorpinok75
Looks good. And just so happens I was in the middle of tracking down Whirl from that two pack for my CHUG collection.
prowl26
While the one included pick for the Bludgeon head would seem to suggest the figures from the two pack, I hope the Bludgeon head will fit the voyager one, I would love the second version for voyager Bludgeon.
Oracle_Aesir
If these are for the ROTF twin pack, then I will sooooo buy these
mac&cheese
are these g1 characters? or made up? i mean did these heads exists in the g1 series?
Laser_Optimus
Nice. I own the two-pack Bludgeon & Whirl and these will make them fit much better with the rest of my collection. Whirl's new head will differentiate him more from my 07 Movie Evac and Bludgeon getting a new head closer to his pretender shell is just icing for me. I know this probably isn't something a lot of fans want, especially considering the really cool voyager Bludgeon, but it works just fine for my collecting needs so I'll be all over it.

Gyro is based on the toy design of G1 Whirl's head. Blood seems to have two different heads shown with one definently based on Bludgeon's Pretender Shell head and the other based on Bludgeon's IDW Comic designed head. They seem to be intended for the TRU exclusive Two-pack of Whirl vs. Bludgeon.
BB Shockwave
Sweet. I was about to cannibalize a G1 Whirl for a head for my repaint of Energon Bulkhead into Whirl, this saves me the trouble.

And the new head is much better then the ROTF Bludgeon head. Both are on my list!
JAYSCREAM
ha! been umming and ahing for ages about getting the set. its been clogging up toysrus shelves since it was relesed over here. at 14.99 i was gona get it for whirl alone........... my god did headrobots get a comission from toysrus to help shift em?

That is a much more suitable mold to be kitbashing into Whirl.
Bern
So...how the hell does the factory Whirl/Evac head even come off?

There's no screw in the back, and there's no access to a pin underneath... do I have to destroy the existing head by splitting in half along the glue seam?
1987olds442
At first I thought "Hell Yeah a new head for my Voyager Bludgeon", but I was disappointed to find out it's for the TRU exclusive set. If this was for the Voyager Bludgeon it would be so bought, but as it is I could care less about an upgrade set for the Toys-R-Us exclusive set. They do look nice though.
Scaleface
So from the looks of things, there are 3 heads in the set... one is a G1 Whirl head (and gun) for the movie Whirl figure. Another is a helmet for the Deluxe movie Bludgeon figure which slots over the existing head and looks more like G1 Bludgeon's Pretender helmet. The third is a completely new head for Voyager Bludgeon.

Take a look at the ENHANCED photo of Deluxe Bludgeon.

Scaleface
I'm guessing this is a helmet that fits over Deluxe Bludgeon and a new head for the Voyager, like so... (except better, sorry for the crappy photo edit job)

Hot Shot.

That was my reaction. I'd love a set of those Bludgeon heads for the voyager class figure.
mac&cheese

If that is the case even though I don't own the TRU 2-Pack set it would be so bought, just to get the Voyager Bludgeon head.

Here you go
mac&cheese
thanks for all the pics. so theres 2 heads in the box. one for the toyrus set and one for the voyager set correct? so now the funny question is will these shelfwarmer sets get the double price treatment just like the walmart exclusive hardhead did when the add on kit came out.

There is two Bludgeon heads, but it looks like they are both for the TRU Deluxe toy

Actually these are more than likely long gone from TRU stores... bad news for those that want them just for this set. If the FanProjects effect happens with these figures in which the price goes up drastically due to the increased demand.

Wasn't referring to G1 figures, was referring to the two figures Scantron mentioned, which is why I quoted him
1987olds442
That's cool for those wanting this set... gone from most stores, but available online
