Posted on 07-28-2012 at 12:43 PM by Sol Fury under 3rd Party Unlicensed
Topspin-and-Twin-Twist
More third party news for you from TFcon 2012! TFW supporter Jarodimus sends us word via Twitter of a pair of new releases from Mech Ideas - a set of unofficial fan-made Transformers based on Generation 1 / IDW's take on Topspin and Twin Twist, the Jumpstarters. Mech Ideas are calling these two Apex and Geminus respectively, and they are a part of a group called the Demolition Crue.

Stay tuned for more third party updates! Remember, these products and unofficial and unlicensed and therefore not endorsed or supported by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy.

Oh man.. It's like a direct assault on Hasbro's 2013 first quarter..
X-Arachnis
.... frak! is it Wreckers year or something!?!
sarnian1979
*Sigh*

Updates the list...

Okay, so these probably beat the FOC Combaticon repaints... but they don't totally hit it for me. I think it's the lack of traditional big feet and ape-like proportions that turn me off. However, it's clear that this company put a lot of G1 love into this design. Still pretty cool.

Beautiful.

2013: The Hasbro-3rd Party Cold War.

Brace yourselves.
Astronut
I'm intrigued.

I hate to ask this.. But the question in my mind is: are these guys really so essential-- and in that is this more g1-inspired homage also so essential-- that a significant number of people will opt to hold out and pay more for them than just wait until spring to pick up the Hasbro versions..?
NothingHead
I mean, not saying one way or the other here. These guys look great, and if the price is right.. who knows?
Acidophilus
With these guys, and Igear's Presser the 3rd parties are killing my interest in Hasbro's Ruination set.
Ribieconvoy
I was going to get Hasbro's Topspin and Twin Twist, but depending on the price these may just be good enough substitutes. Now we just need to hear from iGear about that Impactor
Grapple35
Now those are Topspin and Twintwist!!!
TheJackal
need a little more info but i'd prob get these... im addicted to 3rd party
eriku
Those look absolutely amazing. I'm trying to remember the other company that has made Transforming toys for years but I keep coming up with a blank. Oh well, doesn't matter.

Maybe, if Igear finally releases their Impacter...
Bountyan
Waiting for physical prototypes before I get too excited.
mikeflosi
These are much better than the Hasbro versions. All we need is 3rd party company to make a nice Roadbuster and Whirl.
Mitch FIN Keith
if twin twist is cheap enough i get him. never liked topspin. this doesnt effect my FOC pick ups

oh don't remind me... I WANTED to buy myself that last year for my birthday....well, still no Presser/Impactor....
Creaky
Don't like the proportions, so the Hasbro versions win. Not that they're perfect, but they're a damn sight cheaper if I decide to pick them up.
phoenix88
These don't look bad, but nothing's screaming "buy me" about them to me.
DrillBIT
Interesting figures.
Hot Shot.
10,000,000,000 times better than that crap Hasbro's going to try to pawn off on us.
BScorpinok75
Its the freaking year of the Wreckers around here. And I'm so glad that a 3P co decided on a non Devestator, Megatron, etc. character for a change. Ok so with me already having a Roadbuster (Universe 2 w/nb upgrade) & Whirl (RotF w/hr upgrade) and now these I think I'll pass on the Xaaron/Ruination Wreckers set by Hasbro. And continue using my RID Megatron as Impactor. Wonder what the price will be like and if there are other Wreckers planned or even enemies of the Wreckers (Ultracons, Squadron X)?
Kaijumaster
Getting Hasbro wreckers.....easy pass on the 3rd party.
Grimlock_13
Hooray! If the toys turn out that good I'll be even more excited...and I can pass on the awful Hasbro versions! Thank god for third party.

Hasbro's Ruination set killed my interest in Hasbro's Ruination set. These look fantastic! Now just looking for a new whirl and roadbuster and the classics wreckers will be in business.

EDIT:
Demolition crue = wreckers. Could these guys be the first in a whole line of wrecker inspired 3P releases?

These are fantastic! Good updates to the G1 design, and I can tell who it is without having to look at the package it came in (unlike the shitty Hasbro bruticus repaints.)

OH shoot about to ugly now..... Hasbro is going to start locking down IPs' with a vengeance now.
Timesynch
I'm intrigued, though I personally don't know very much about MI as a 3P company. Looking forward to protos. Could definitely pick them up for my Classics Wreckers display. This duo looks a little stumpy in the legs, but that could just be the way the promo art is foreshortened with weird perspective.
Peagis
Very cool!
Impactor1106
With Overlord getting done as well, these guys are a must now!!!
slugslinger2004
Not really interested in these guys, well at least not at 3rd party prices. Hasbro versions will have to do for me, though I still want Igear's Presser.

Hasbro rolls out more BBs.

Stops making any transformer other than Optimus and Bumblebee.

Hasbro: Megatron? Jazz? Who are they?
ssjkazer

ahahahahahahahahhahah

iGear will get all the G1 characters done before Hasbro, and iGear just delayed Ratchet and Ironhide for the millionth time.
bcm77
If all things go to plan and these get released along with iGear's Impactor and FP's Broadside my Wreckers display will eventually consist of,

Warbot Defender ( Springer )
Warbot Assaulter ( Broadside )
Presser ( Impactor )
Mugen Calibur ( Roadbuster )
Wrecking Crue ( Topspin & Twin Twist )

So that's 6 Wreckers all with their own individual molds.

Sorry Hasbro, you lose....again

That may be true but I don't think I'll be collecting when I'm 105 years old!!!
Cecilia
I donīt care as much for the G1 homage, those look good, not essential stuff, but given some spare moneu I might jump on those.
cryotek
These look cool. Might get them.
Jigga
I spoke to the guys at Mech Idea and the price is going to be around $40-$55, that's the price point they are aiming at.

Is that individually or as a pair? I take it they're a decent deluxe size?

the problem is these may tower over Hasbro's "new" deluxe size.
Fallout
i'll stick to paying a buck for the originals online. these look cool but not $50 cool, and i've always hated their alt modes. they actually pull it off well on these toys though.

Excellent, not got a problem with that. TS and TT were big boys.
