2005 Board member Peaugh has provided us with a video review (and a pictorial review) of the Mastermind Creations Knight Morpher Airborne Squadron Awakening figure. This figure was recently available at the San Jose Toy Show and preorders from online retailers have started to be fulfilled. This figure is based on the Hearts of Steel version of the Seeker and comes in prototype colors.

Click the title bar to check out the pictorial review or watch the video review below.

I was given a shipping notice.

Great review Peaugh!

For everyone who ordered one through A3U, they are going to start shipping them by next Friday.

Can't wait to get mine!

How's the plastic quality? I have cyclops & annihilator and while the plastic is good, it's not as strong feeling as fansproject, maketoys or tfc. Just wanted to see if they've changed anything or are using the same stuff.
phoenix88
is there a confirmed price for the painted versions?
benzscairy
Great pictorial buddy, cant wait to watch the review an yeah Hexatron is massive i reviewed the prototype and its going to be amazing
TacomaPrime

Thats the problem, if you get one you'll be wanting the rest.
Unless you get this version, then you could prolly stop right there.
xterry

all hail the seeker!

That's one of the reasons I bought this guy. I won't feel the need to by all 3 of the others. Hopefully.

I don't care for repaints at all. I just want one of this mold. Since I have Alternity Cracker....and will pick up the MP...I'll probably get the blue version.
lildevilchick
Oh yeah. I'm definitely getting all three of these guys.

How's the headsculpt? I'm really on the fence about getting the red one, but I'm not certain I like it just yet...opinions?
Cheem The Rup
can't wait to grab the classic trio

The head sculpt is great. And if you don't like the fins you can fold them back for a more classic seeker head look.
Josh
do those locomotive-like wheels swing out for landing gear or is it just random detail?

man i so need the skywarp version of this <3

They can swing out as landing gear, yes.
Peaugh
I love finding Mech Modes for unrelated things.

Can you show the landing gear deployed?

That's an impressive wingspan . Awesome pictorial review! I can't wait the video at work, but is there any way you can post a close up pic of the face mold? It looks a little.... weird in the angles shown in your first post.
NICKBOT
Great review Peaugh, I am kind of getting sold on these figures. I would be ok for my Cyclops to have some buddies on a shelf. I sure hope they make Megatron.
LadyStarscream
I still can't get over how huge cyclops is in comparison. That's the only reason I haven't ordered him yet.
odeean
Thanks for the review.

I am not sold on this mold yet. I guess seeing good pics of the painted ones may change that but for now they look a bit stupid in plane mode. The robot mode is nice. After getting Cyclops recently I worry about the brittle plastic that MMC use on a figure with such small parts.

This will probably be one of those things I pick up during a lul in other more desirable figures.

As a side note, my Cyclops came missing the head of the mini sub. That is one mark against MMC for me now.
NICKBOT
I haven't watched the video review just yet so this may have been addressed but I am concerned with the plastic and the overall tolerances. That's one of my only complaints with Cyclops.
lildevilchick
Can't wait to get all of the colored versions. This looks fantastic and the video got me super excited. ^o^
Transbot90210
Thanks for the video review. This Airborne Squadron set has me very excited.

I can not wait to have the three coloured versions in my HoS display.

Same here. Already have them all 3 preordered, and they can't come in soon enough! I think I am going to have a dedicated HOS shelf, since I have shockwave and the red and black optimus's.

The alt mode is a bit... weak... but that bot mode is just quite awesome. Three sets of weapons... wish all versions had them (or you could buy all separately). Didn't realize they had specific weapons til this review.

The caution tags all over that page bugs me a tad.

Bit smaller than I expected... but still good. Wish I could get the Cyclops to go with them... not enough moolah.
Chaosbringer
Wake me up when they decide to do war within seekers (not the titanium simplified POS!)
gothsaurus
I'm glad to see some happy customers on these! Looks like the craftsmanship, head sculpt, detail. are spot on. I think if these were all in scale a little better (even though they may be accurate to the comic) I might have jumped in to get a complete set. As is, Prime and Shockwave are so far apart... and the price high enough... that I jumped ship. Mind you, I'd really like to see someone's set in person. Might change my mind.
ZEGR
they look phenomenal! arent these supposed to come in 2 different size classes?
Timesynch
Looks very nice but I'll have to pass on the whole HoS line. There's just too much stuff coming out and my wallet is already crying uncle. Have to draw the line somewhere. XD
RapidBlast
Veeeeeeeery niiiiiiice. I really like the blades and the guns.
snip312
thanks for the review

The plastic and tolerances on mine are just fine. The caution poster, as I mentioned on my review, is just that. A quick look at some areas that you don't want to handle roughly. After my first transformation through it and taking care to note which areas were possibly fragile, I've had no issues whatsoever with anything.

It's hard to get a good shot of them deployed and in actual use, but here's a couple showing them flipped out and being used.

So I take it you don't count Cybetron Voyager Starscream as a WW Seeker mold then..?
