) but anything else great so far
Funny how I ordered Ironhide yesterday and those pics came today
With the MP Sideswipe announcement from Takara, have to wonder if these will be rendered irrelevant in some year's time.

I sometimes wonder that, especially when I once bid $1,000 on a Predaking and the reissue was announced two months later, so glad I lost the auction. I once spent $350 on a Star Convoy and the reissue came out within six months; you win some and you lose some. If I was that worried, I'd never buy anything again in case a better / cheaper version appeared - and if you take that attitude with Transformers, you usually end up chasing inflated prices on the secondary market. Two weeks to paint them all and ship them out? Give us a date IGear!
I'm a little surprised that there isn't an overwhemling sense of gushing and drooling over these. Their hefty price tag aside, we finally have cartoon-accurate Ironhide and Ratchet figures that don't look like jigsaw puzzles!
Most improved or not, their shaddy-ness never goes away. Right now, it's still "does". They still reap from MP-01's design, and the seeker's design. I am not saying their original designs aren't good, but honestly? Ratchet and Ironhide have been delayed until May right now, which is 5 months from when the first expected date was due. And on a note mentioned not long ago: copying even JUST the transformation scheme saves you a lot of work. Even on cad. Yeah, you have to "draw" it from scratch and "design", but you don't have to think about how the transformation scheme would work. That's what pioneers, imo. When I get a truly amazing transformer from Hasbro (such as FE Bulkhead, HA Jazz, etc), you can see that the transformation scheme is revolutionary, and that's where I appreciate the engineering design. Not a copy of a scheme and then redesign the "art" portion of a transformer.
Slash the price by dropping the tray full of useless extra bits and I might be interested.

Battle Tanker? That's original design in transformation scheme. |
