IGear-MP-PP03J-Masterpiece-Ramjet-Unofficial
In what may not come as a surprise, and what is undoubtedly more fodder for the armchair lawyers amongst the fandom, iGear has revealed images of their upcoming Transformers Masterpiece based/compatible PP03J figure, which resembles none other than the conehead Seeker, Ramjet! Looks like iGear is pretty far along despite this prototype still being a work in progress(WIP).

Who knows if changes will be implemented by final production. Hit the thumbnail to take a closer look!

Looks good to me, where is (Not) Thrust?
Valkysas
I like how the conehead doesnt match the cone.

(I'm imagining that with the limited head storage on this mold, there's just gonna be a head spike sticking out of the bottom of jet mode)

Why is everyone so angry about this?

Imagine what these guys could accomplish if they did something original.

Probably not. The MP Seeker mold has a large hollow area between the abdomen panels which, happily enough, is situated right over the robot's head. Should be plenty of room to store the cone helmet.

Without some further modification, though, the toy won't be able to transform with it attached. I'm going to assume that you'll just have to detach and re-attach it when converting between modes.

Anyways, this came about quite a bit sooner than I was expecting. Wonder how tight their release schedule is looking?

Because people don't like ko of current designs/ and they want it to hasbro or takara. I think hasbro takara needs to dish them out faster then the ko. You snooze you loose.
PrimulArchangel
AWESOME!!!!!!!! THIS WILL BE MINE. I could care less who make these, all that matters to me is some has made them Finally and i will buy lol

The partnered person for this is the guy who made the badass customs HERE on these very boards, wheeljack or wheel_jack or some itteration of that name. I agree, I don't get the anger.. Well, not all of it anyway. I suppose I understand it a little.
mutagen28
i like how everyone is up in arms about this stuff even though it will take about another six years for hasbro to even think about doing coneheads. you guys should not care who makes the MPs as long as we get some.
Nerdicon
I'd buy it. Then by the hasbro one on clearance at walmart when the time comes.

Confused about that myself. Which unofficial/aftermarket items are we supposed to like?

Seemed like people loved those KO Alternators (that white Hound, etc.), and they were straight copies of HasTak molds. At least Ramjet's got one or two custom changes. What's the qualitative difference, though? Why condone one ripoff but scorn another?

I guess the Classics Magnus trailer is less of a sin, in that you have to buy an Official Transformer to make it meaningful.
Blitz.
the KO alts were cheapo nasty KO's that were perfect for kit bashes this will cost an arm and a leg and directly competing with a design Hastak are still producing

frankly I dont care about this only fools with too much money will buy it and when/if Hasbro/tak make their own their value will dive

As for what makes this wrong when fansproject stuff is ok. well FP make and design their own original works this is just a cut and paste copy with a new head, pair of guns and a new set of wings

they stole his design, he is not a partner, they didn't give him credit until it was brought up by some people

and this thread is actually calm haha i lost my rage, i realized there is nothing i can do except not to buy

It really looks amazing, and man yeah i want that figure but...

Its a shame as they have talent, but they are wasting it by being rip off merchants.

Morally it should be obvious to anyone, that these are wrong, if its not then you are simply ignorant and stupid. With FP they are simply upgrades and brand new molds. These guys have transistioned into being simply crooks.

Chances are HASTAK would have given us these at some point, but people are inpatient and will buy these. I can only hope that they get shut down before they take the whole of the third party scene with them.

Because it underscores the fact that Takara haven't used this mold like many would have wanted.

Starscream's colors were just plain inaccurate. Skywarp and Thundercracker's decos were somewhat inaccurate, and all three had some QC issue.

After three runs of what is basically the same mold, you'd think they might spring for some new wings and a conehead. Wishful thinking. Instead we get Ghost Starscream, i guess we can look forward to Sunstorm, or 'Dead Starscream'.

Right now, i think Takara deserve to loose out on this.

Not everyone is upset about this.

I for one welcome it.

Bottom line is, if you want an MP Dirge, pick it up. If you don't, then put it in your will for one of your kin to buy the official version. But you would have died from old age at this point. (At the turtle pace these are put out). If at all.

I just have to quote this for the truth, even if only for the QC issues with the moulds, they had a lot of time to get it right and they just didn't take it.

are they gonna make an articulated dr. archeville? one that can bend over and take one in the ass

I must admit, I have to side with the people who don't quite understand the anger over this.

Admittedly, I don't have enough legal training or knowledge to have an informed opinion about the legal aspect.

But financially, this product isn't available for me to buy from Hasbro and Takara. I suspect it never will be. So Hasbro and Takara are going to lose no money from this product existing, but will allow me to have a full squadron of MP Seekers which, for me, is actually a holy grail of TF collecting and means a lot to me. And if Hasbro/Takara DO bring out official MP Coneheads, I'll buy those too.

Just my own, admittedly uninformed, opinion.
[Wing_Saber-X]
Meh.
Sorry, will wait for an official licensed product from Takara, thank yous very much!

what i don't understand is where people are asking about "how people are angry" and stuff, this thread actually is pretty civil compared to the last one haha reaction to this is more calm than to the initial reaction to dirge
Attobot2006
To me there are significant amount of changes and new parts to warrant taking a second look at this as more than a simple straight rip off. The mini prime is a straight knock off, for sure, but this is a little bit of a different story IMO.

Just to play devil's advocate here, one way you might look at this particular toy is that it is an aftermarket add-on parts (wings, clusters, tanks, head, etc...) kit that happens to come with a knock off body for customizing, AND...is already customized for you.

Would people be mad if they just released the extra moded parts (the new wings, the head, the clusters/fuel tanks, etc...) for fans to purchase, which would require fans to buy an extra official seeker toy (like a walmart skywarp) and have to customize it themselves by adding the aftermarket fan parts and having to paint the figure themselves?

I mean, if you really didn't feel right about having knock off parts, lol, maybe buy the toy, disassemble the new original parts (wings/head etc) to make your own custom, and send off the knockof main body back to iGear so you dont have to feel guilty about owning any knock off parts, then go on ebay and try to find (and pay full price for) a genuine takaratomy/hasbro seeker separately, then hack it up for a custom, paint it, and then have to baby the toy because fan-painted toys have to be babied during play/transformation because the paint will chip off (versus an official or even knock off pre-painted or molded-in-color toy that won't have the same paint chipping issues).

Or you can wait indefinitely for takaratomy/hasbro to maybe release an official version of this.

I am a devout Macross (robotech) fan who collects valkyries (veritechs) also engineered and designed by the same designer of the original and masterpiece seekers, Shoji Kawamori. Kawamori's valkyrie toys have been released (in masterpiece quality) by company Yamato. His VF-1 Valkyrie design is similar to Seekers in that there are several different versions that use basically the same mold with only slight differences in paint scheme or head/accessory design that distinguish the different types from each other, much like how the seekers are all pretty much the same body with slight variations on paint scheme/accessories. Macross fans ate up each variant of each valkyrie in 1/48 scale, but there are two variants that have completely different armor that fans were hoping Yamato would release. To date, there has been no release of these variants. The only remedy is for someone else to come up with the extra parts needed to mod an existing VF-1 into these special variants (VT-1, and VE-1, Superostrich and Elintseeker). Fans who have been holding their breath for an official release have been holding their breaths in vein so far.

I see this seeker situation as the same. THe current Seeker mold has been in existence for several years now, and rather than make variations of the mold, they have only been reissuing the same characters over and over again. Green screamer. Anime screamer. Ghost screamer. (granted they did make different faces for each seeker, skywarp and thundercracker). And prime. Geeze. Regular Prime. Prime with trailer. Nemisis Prime. Ultra Magnus (prime). and now zombie prime. And his mold has been around even longer than the seeker mold. Have we seen any NEW parts for prime really? (Like Magnus Armor). Have we seen any new parts for the seeker mold, like for Ramjet Thrust or Dirge?

No.

So, IMO, this new conehead from iGear is cool in my book.

KO makers don't have talent to create anything new. Just recreate something that exists, as they have the tools for it.

I've heard from some of my garage kit contacts, that these guys might of been behind the City Commander and Shadow Commander KOs.

I feel igear won't ruin it for the garage kit companies anymore, like FansProject and TFC Toys. Why? Well, with their PP series, they've basically grouped themselves with KO makers. I don't see why any fan would call them a "3rd" party group, or garage kit company. Even true garage kit groups, who don't have their things made at a factory, don't copy existing products.

As far as I see it, if Hasbro or Takara want to crush iGear, they can just announce their own version of whatever iGear announces. So not only then, do fans have the option to buy a genuine TF product, it'll have better material used, and be easier to obtain.

At the same time, I don't see Hasbro or Takara doing anything really, because iGear has selling options with their PP series, and most stores are just too smart to not get in trouble with Hasbro or Takara.
Chaosbringer
shouldn't the lower arms be dark grey?
Draven
I'm not touching this topic with a sh*tty stick. I got so much crap over the last KO they released that I'm simply not going to buy them, and leave it at that.
VitaminZinc
It looks nice, but I certainly won't be buying it.

Also can't say I condone copying a mold just because Takara/Hasbro won't come out with it. This is a mass produced custom/kitbash. It's convenient, sure, but... meh. I dunno. It just doesn't sit well with me at all.
Rotorstorm
with the cone head you'd have thought they'd have at least remolded the face from dull surprise. always was my least favourite facial expression on the mold, shame the starscream smirk doesn't suit skywarp

I think it looks great.

To me, some of the rage feels misplaced... you're angry about a non hastak product for existing because hastak didn't make one...

EDIT: to stay on topic... if i come into some serious cash, seeing these makes me want a complete MP seeker set. if not, i may just have to pick my favorite. Either way, i will own one of the conehead seekers.
Opticron Primal
Meh, already got my piss out when Elegy was shown.

They'll keep doing what they're doing. Will screw over the garage companies sooner or later.......

I don't care for the face of this, no matter who's making it.

Man that looks suspiciously close to WheelJack's MP Ramjet same for the last one that we got a preview of. I wonder if he's working with them?

I think its dope....isn't everything not made by hasbro and takara consider a KO?
I agree hasbro need to move quicker, I don't wanna hear shit about $, becuz they got plenty of it.
I'm sure hasbro lost a lot money on tuner mudflap,black scorponok,dlx ratchet...etc

But back on topic I think its dope...I would get this, but I ain't mp prices for it
asphalt
So, I might be clueless about these, but I know their MP prime was a much smaller scale. Are the seekers MP scale or the smaller scale to match their mini-prime?

i could be wrong but is ghost starscream the dead starscream? unless they reissue a mangled grey starscream that transforms to powder.

this non-ramjet is pretty cool. but i'm just looking, not buying.
