Fan favorite 3rd party company, Fansproject, has updated their website with new pictures of their next figure in their Warbot line – Revolver. This unofficial Roadbuster was previously revealed at this years TFcon. He will sport the Wreckers orange and green color scheme and the weapons will be able to connect to the figure or his vehicle mode in whatever manner fans want. This figure will also be one of their Heartmaster figures, similar to their previous release Steelcore. The Heartmaster figure, which is more or less a Powermaster engine, plugs into the back of Revolver as opposed to his chest.

This figure is really old and one of the first few 3rd party figures so….it was pretty great for its time and i still like this depiction of Roadbuster which is basically a call out to Don Figueroa's rendition of Roadbuster from Stormbringer. Currently in the IDW comics he's more buffed up and huge, much like Mastermind Creations's Not-Roadbuster, DICAMUS. I prefer Revolver Core over Dicamus.

I think the Shadow Fisher upgrade set looks great with him.

Purchased this off BBTS for $30 sale. Wasn't in the market, but I'm only dabbling in collecting these, and never had experience with a FansProject piece. Roadbuster also was a personal favorite of mine, so this is technically my third, after owning the original G1 as a kid and purchasing the Generations version.
I wasn't happy with displaying the Generations version. The bright plastic looks off to me. Also, the head is a bit – tiny. He's currently in pieces with intent on modding or kitbashing some day. Also, relatively weak posability on the Hasbro version.
I have to say, the posability of Revolver is really good. I haven't even bothered to transform him, but it has a great, blocky robot mode reminiscent of anime-style robots. There is a lot of personality to this design. And yeah, the ball joints are a bit loose on the waist like others have noted.
Disappointed that the fists are just closed(?) I thought for a figure that cost up near $100 a few years ago, you'd at least get posable hands. Maybe the high cost of some of these third-party figures doesn't reflect that they're the complete package.
I'd say well worth $30, but I'm glad I didn't pay more. He's in perfect scale with my CHUG/Siege bots, which is what I intended. I intended to do maybe some dry brushing on him, bring out some highlights. We'll see.
Random observation, the construction and articulation seems like a precursor to a lot of what Hasbro/Takara did with the Siege line. With the exception that the design of Revolver is a bit above Siege line in that he is such a perfectly balanced robot figure without hollow bits or weird backpacks. The Siege molding/quality is probably a bit better. My Ratchet is a tank at posing, where this guy is a bit… floppier.
Other thoughts: Roadbuster was always a favorite of mine. He was always in the toy aisle, but he was never in the cartoon or comic. Instead, the cartoon was all about Ironhide. I remember a friend of mine received an Ironhide as a gift, and it seemed like the toy was incomplete somehow. Even as kids we thought "is this a joke?" I remember getting Roadbuster with birthday money because he was simply the better looking "toy." I may have just called him "Ironhide." But he filled the role in my collection as the big-guy, tough-talking robot who served as Prime's bodyguard. So much for head canon.

Selling mine for $30 shipped. I just don't have a place for him anymore. Poor guy has been in a box for a couple years now.

Good to know! I'll keep him in mind come christmas when I have an extra buck or two. I saw him on Amazon for about 40 bucks on amazon alongside other items by fansproject. So I'm considering him
Fenrys
he's at least much better than the official roadbuster and is the main reason i started a dedicated g1 wreckers shelf since i got him for $35 awhile back. personally i think i prefer him without the extra armor bits, the over sized hands always looked goofy to me
Razor24
He's pretty articulated.
Plastic quality is probably a bit subpar compared to modern figures but for the time it was decent and indicative of FP standards.
Tolerances were garbage for me out of the box but ymmv.
For $40 though you can't really go wrong, especially when the fix is super easy (as I mentioned above).
You can see the level of articulation in this pic

How does this mold hold today? I just wanted to know out of curiosity. In terms of articulation, plastic quality, and tolerances.
Razor24
For me they were essential as I had collected the entire warbot line. If I could hang onto any line I would try to hang onto them.
And yes the mold was an ok Roadbuster but there were certainly better ones out there.
Pun-3X
Nice.
I always wanted one of the twins. Never went for them because of their price (and honestly, still wouldn't pay original retail). Just one of those figures that looks cool and I wouldn't mind having…just not as Roadbuster.

The floppiness was an unfortunate issue with that mold I think. I have all three revolver figures and they were floppy messes out of the box. Just drip a couple of drops of Future into the joints and they tighten right up and are great after that.
Superglue would work too but I find Future to be a safer option. It just has to set overnight where as Superglue is set within seconds but you risk fusing the joints in place if you don't do it right.

Nice setup. Just ordered mine from TFsource.

Funny that this popped back up to the top today. I just got the Assault Cuirass set from Shadow Fisher that I bought during one of the eBay coupon events. All put together it's pretty impressive.

I'm what, five years late to the party?

Pretty floppy but I got him for $40 new, so I cant complain.

Agreed on all counts. And i have the shadow Fisher kit on one of miine. It's not a bad substitute.
I agree. The transformation is very fluid as well.
