Third party group Fansproject has posted an update on their community website FansProjectCore regarding their upcoming Warbot Assaulter.

According to the update, pre-orders through FansProjectCore will be open soon, and will include some unspecified bonus accessories. The new images show Assaulter in-package next to his fellow Warbots. There are two additional photos of Assaulter in what is presumably his aircraft carrier mode, with tiny, scaled models of Warbots Defender and Steel Core.

Thanks to all our fans for all the patience with so many projects going on. We have many announcements to make starting with this one. FPC will be releasing pre-orders soon for Assaulter and has confirmed with FP that members of FPC that order will receive a bonus with their figure.

This is FP’s thanks to FPC and it’s members for their support with Steel Core's first roll-out. We’ve done some refinements to the system as per feedback and will have those covered in another announcement.

The pre-order date will be announced soon, so stay tuned!

I get that Warbot = Springer, and that SteelCore = Energon Ultra Magnus, who's Assaulter supposed to represent or homage? Sorry don't read the comics...

You don't even have to read the comic books... It's Broadside, who's also a triple changer.
philipjreed
Pics look really nice. Any guesses on price? He looks big.
brr-icy
from tfcon, $80-$90 was what we were told
jbz
I was ready to drop the $ for the preorder....

Ah, okay. He was in 4 of the G1 Cartoons. I honestly didn't remember him. I do remember that his toy sucked. Looks like this one will be better.

SteelCore is SteelCore, not Ultra Magnus
He's an original character, made by FP.

Now if they reissue Steel Core at the same time it would be a party.

Steelcore is a unique FP character NOT Energon Ultra Magnus. Just because he can pull the trailer doesn't make him the character - That's a huge stretch.

Assaulter is Broadside, a G1 character that appeared in both the cartoon and comics.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Broadside_%28G1%29

You need to learn yourself some Transformers
Torque
I dont get how people arent recognizing him on sight. its totally obviously Broadside.

Most likely because he appeared in the latter part of the series (after the movie)...

Quote:
Broadside was depicted as being very large in all modes, standing at least twice as tall as Ultra Magnus, and being able to combat giant Decepticon combiners alone. Broadside first appeared in episode 67 of the animated Transformers series, "The Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2".

The toy was on every catalog that came with a toy from 1986-1987...

And store shelves...

And a few episodes of the cartoon...

And in UK, Dreamwave, and IDW comics...

Maybe it's because I'm 37 and lived through G1... Absorbing every molecule of every checklist... The only things I can't name on sight are several of the 1990 Micromasters, and that's because I was in high school and boobs > transformers.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's later today. Kapow is 5-8 hours ahead of those two, so if FP sent the email during the day in Japan, Kapow would get it first, then roll west across.

Also you gotta figure not EVERYONE has been doing this for YEARS like some of us. Some folks might honestly not know who Broadside is. Did he even appear after G1 at all?

Show of hands - who knows who Tote is? Probably the same folks who know who Broadside is.
Torque
I'm 21 and know him due to the fact that he's one of the three autobot triple changers. Or does everyone assume its just Springer?

Never heard of Tote, though probably because he doesnt have a super obvious thing about him, like triple-changing.
daimchoc
The series after the the movie was not shown world wide (back then)... And not everybody have had access to the toy catalogs or the toys themselves (back then)... So, if some people ask, just answer nicely and don't mock them... Or just don't answer them at all.
exomega255
its amazing. I love when 3rd party release their toy only a few months after the preview. Unlike some certain groups I know...
Duomaxwell1017
Cant wait to find out when it will be released and how much its gonna cost!!!
Duomaxwell1017
Will Assulter be a limited release like Steel Core? Or will Assulter be limited to a certian number of releases?
StayingInTheBox
Can't wait to see an official price announced.

I thought Steel Core was going to get a wider release. Did something change, or was I misunderstanding the plan?

Bingo. I knew of the name, and had a vague recollection of his size, but that's it.

- Not everyone studied the catalogs. I only paid attention to the ones I thought looked cool, and looking at Broadside's G1 toy today, I can understand that he wasn't one of them.
- Not every store shelf in every country was the same.
- Not every country got all the episodes, or in the right order, or at the same time every week. I've seen him in G1 in later years, but he really didn't play a big part in any of them as far as I can remember.

I mean, look at this tribute to broadside and you'll get an idea of how much of an impact he had on the show:
Transformers G1 Broadside Tribute - YouTube

We have to remember that just because we're on a transformers forum, doesn't mean we all have the same knowledge of everything. We're all from different cultures, different times, different countries, different backgrounds etc etc
Some people here doesn't consider post 1986 to be G1, while some consider DW comics to be G1. Some knows nothing about BW, some think Prime is the best TF series to date, some actually think the movies are good

I guess.

I just take it for granted that everyone who is a G1 fan doesn't really know most of G1... All some people consider G1 is 1984-1985. Like Pat Lee

G1 was 7 years long in the US. I still want my Classics Doubleheader and Vroom.

Is this the final colors?

^^^ think so, yeah

An updated Vroom would be something! I'm imagining like a red and white Mospeada-esque thing. Slimmer than G1, but more bad ass. I'd be on board for that!

Are you sure?
HEY, I know that arm and hand.

I feel a little honoured that someone saved my pics from the con. I scored over 100 pics if you want more. lol

*edit* I just realised that arm has no watch so it is not me, but damn that looks like my arm. Like I am truly blown away at how much that looks like my arm lol

As for price. The responce I received was "We are aiming for $90" so nothing was solidified but FP is good when it comes to prices. And at $90, order quickly he is going to be a lot of toy in terms of size, weight and features.
ahro23
Damn it, from how slow it's loading, I see I'm not the only one visiting FPC
Impactor1106
I'm just curious if the $90ish price is only through Fansprojectcore. If so, then I'm sure the other retailers will be charging more for it. - have to wait and see.

Actually I don't need to "learn me some" transformers. I'm completely happy with what I do know already. My original question was already answered.

Your entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. If you ask FP I'm sure "officially" they would say that all their characters are new, to avoid lawsuits but we all know better.

He was shown off at a show with different colors as Energon Ultra Magnus, and to me he's Energon Ultra Magnus reborn. If you don't like it that's fine but you really cant change my mind and arguing about what each of us thinks is rather pointless. To you he's an original character and that's fine, enjoy.

Steelcore is dead to me unless they do an Overload repaint... DEAD TO ME!!!!

And what are the chances of folks buying 10 Assaulters at a time and then trying to flip those for a profit?

I love your sig! I'm sure they will get around to doing an Overloard repaint. Fingers crossed its not a limited issue.

Kapow Toys have added me to the list for Assaulter. Praise the lord! That'll save me getting burnt on shipping and customs charges.
dwong1207
Has anyone wondered why Fansprojectcore didn't get this? I thought they were the exclusive store. I think FPC is closed.

SC's first run was exclusive to FPC. It doesn't mean that they'll be the only ones to carry FP's products... Think of this as like MT's BattleTanker. Upgradecommander.com was the primary seller back then, and then it was eventually released over to the other parties. Succeeding products by MT was then basically available to the masses... MT Yellow Giant was available first at BBTS.
Duomaxwell1017
Fansproject Core site is still up but there hasnt been an update in a long time
Astronut
What would be the cheapest way for an international customer to get this? Don't say BBTS, it will won't be cheapest for me, no matter how many times you say POL.
What's typically the second cheapest store after RK?
Transbot90210
I hear a lot of people on your side of the pond use Kapowtoys.
