Thanks to friend and site sponsor TFsource, we’ve just learned of third party group DX9 Toy’s limited run of Transparent Phantom, a transparent version of Invisible, their Masterpiece-esque take on Mirage. This limited edition version will be limited to just 1,000 pieces, available for preorder now for around $90 USD before shipping, and is slated for release sometime in January 2015.
Check out the new reveal after the break!
Staff edit:
BigBadToyStore has put up preorders as well.

Thanks as always for your thoughts as well as the pic, ph4zed

I think most of those would detract from his transparency… I stuck on a chrome outline faction symbol, but that was it.

Hi all,
BBTS and its sale on DX9 stuff made me pull the trigger on this guy at $24.99. I'm wondering if anyone has bought and applied the Reprolabels DX9 Invisible stickers to it or not? I'm wondering if they would even "work."
Labels for DX9 Invisible
Any thoughts?

So I jumped on the TF Source sale and got this guy in today.
First things first, I still don't have a regular DX9 Invisible figure. I might get one in the future, but right now all I have is the Transparent Phantom… and this thing is scary. Kid gloves are absolutely required when handling this. Almost every joint on this figure is scary tight. I used to have clear KO's of the classic seekers and those weren't as bad as this. Make sure you hold onto the figure firmly while moving any of the joints. This alone makes the Transparent Phantom the least fun 3rd party figure I've had in my hands. Transforming it to alt mode was a worrying ordeal.
Also, the figure's shade of blue is much darker than the any of the stock pictures make it out to be. I don't know if those pictures were messed with in photoshop or what, but that vibrant blue is nowhere on this figure.
Lastly, it doesn't really fit in on my MP Autobot shelf. It just sticks out too much. If you have a shelf dedicated to MP oddities like Year Of The Horse Prime, Acid Storm, etc, then this would fit in better there.
I kinda wanna sell this at cost so I can buy a normal Invisible.

TF Source has this on sale right now for $70.

Yeah, this looks so much better than the first shots with a mix of clear dark blue and solid light blue pieces. It does, however, accentuate the fact that the forearms are hollow.
Very nice pics, BTW.

We got this little gem in stock today and couldn't wait to get some photos of it. So much so, that I forgot to bring home the regular one out of my display in my office to photo along side it. Oh well, for another day I suppose, but really loving this release from DX9.
One word of caution, the figure I opened is very tight, so be careful and don't leverage too much on things.

I REALLY like this, but I wish it had been just a shade or two lighter.
I have a clear G1 Mirage that someone customized with a pale blue tint and it looks amazing…
…don't get me wrong…this looks great and I'm probably going to pick him up anyways, but just a little bit lighter would have sealed the deal for me.

And now we see why those holes in the arms are there in the first place. It's all because of the arm swivel joint.

Damn I was perfectly happy with the regular version but then I stray back in here and see those pics………and now I have to order this one too. Double damn.
First purchase of the new year.

Newest pics look great. I'm still curious if they plan to add any paint or lettering.

Hey Optitron1081, do you know if they are going to add any paint or lettering to this version?

The Phantom is Live! I love the color scheme here and think this was a great idea for Mirage. Invisible Phantom is now up on the Blog Here and ready for orders.

I like this better than the original. No, it isn't a simulation of invisibility. That would require take crystal, and would result in a toy where the details are all washed out. This is a figure which hints at invisibility, with the translucent plastics. I more appreciate the hinting than the simulating.
