In 2007, The Transformers will return to the big screen for the first time in more than 20 years as an all new live-action film tentatively titled "Transformers". The film will be directed by Michael Bay, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, and distributed by Dreamworks/Paramount. The movie will be filmed with live humans, sets, actors and have computer generated Transformers characters inserted. The characters are loosely based on original Generation 1 (1980's Transformers), but the story and overall look have been updated for a modern day telling.
The film will star Shia LaBeof as Sam Witwickity (aka - Spike), Jon Voight as Secretary of State Keller, Tyrese Gibson as Army Officer Figueroa, Josh Duhamel as Military Commander Lennox, Bernie Mac as used car salesman Bobby Bolivia, Rachael Taylor as freelance codebreaker Rachel, Megan Fox as Mikaela (Spike's love interest), and John Turturro as a Sector 7 Agent - among others.

Activision is set to produce the video games for the movie, and have tentatively planned to release them on the same day as the movie, July 4th 2007.
Hasbro will be producing the Transformers toys for the movie, so expect a wide range of styles, size classes, play sets, role play items, and multiple renditions of the same characters across these various platforms.
Diamond Select by Diamond Comic Distributors are expected to release a full line of statues, busts, and props based on the new Transformers Movie in 2007.
