Everyone has their favorite Transformer. When I was a kid Devastator was the baddest robot to ever walk the planet. In the episode “Heavy Metal War” when they first combined, I thought that was the coolest thing that I’ve ever seen. From that episode on I looked forward to when Devastator would show up again. He is my all time favorite like so many of you.

I stumbled across a link over to Transtopia from here at TFW2005 and saw Devastator’s Devastator and was in total disbelief. A few months later Ptitvite comes out with a Devastator that was also unbefreakinglievable. It was a little after that I decided to at least try.

I bought a mini KO Devastator and simply placed some Gundam legs underneath Longhaul when he was in Dev mode. I realized if I connected them he would already look ten times better, because the original toy never had real legs. The mini was coming along nice enough that I decided to make the full size version.

KO’s were used at first but the plastic was kind of iffy. So I decided to use my G2 yellow Hasbro version to give him more weight and stability. The new green is from Model Masters and the purple by Citadel. I used an airbrush for the purples and spray cans for everything else.

This Devastator is sort of a mix between the G1 cartoon and the new Palisades Statue (Wanted to be a little different).Only one modification was made to the original bots. LongHaul needed another slit under his grill so his new torso could attach. All the other parts were from my broken 1/60 scale Gundam model. After months of blood, sweat, and bone he finally came to completion. I hope you enjoy him.
