Bio: Optimus had never been one for speed. His form was built for the heavy burden of leadership: power, integrity and strength. But speed? He left those responsibilities to his team.

But this time, he did not have such an option. In a qualifying race for the Planet Cup, Hot Shot, Override, Blur and Excellion had been injured by Crumplezone and Ransack, with Megatron acting as lead. With the race almost over, Optimus felt regret for challenging Excellion’s request for him to enter the race. “You’ve got a speed demon in you Prime”, he said, “We just gotta figure out how to unleash it!”

He pressed his engines to their limit, pushing him self towards stalling. His frame began to burn red, his cab top almost melting from the heat he was generating. The left and then right cannon on his trailer fell away, their couplings melted from his own heat. Still he pushed forward, refusing to lose at this critical part of their journey.

With that last burst of effort, the Speed planet key lit up the clouds, washing over him in a crimson shower of energy. It healed his damaged frame and modified him for speed. In an instant, turning him into Velocitron Prime.
