Powermaster Apex Prime
Classics Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor
One of my personal favorite customs I've done so far to date. this is the bot that helped me earn first place at tfcon09. originally the idea came from a friendly wager between a friend and i. he was going to do a nemesis armor set out of city commander while I was going to do a powered convoy out of a cc armor set. things changed along the way, ideas were scrapped while others were explored. (plus, they ended up eventually being released anyways so it’s a good thing we didn’t buck up our cc armors to do our original plans.) to convert the cc set to this, this is what has been done to him…
· Cc armor shoulder stacks cut off and filled
· Cc face was removed, resculpted face with green putty
· Cc head antennas were ground down so they are more square and pointed
· Acrylic pieces were glued onto cc’s left front shoulder armor piece(shoulder mounted gattling gun)
· Flat rare earth magnets added to crotch piece(so g1 hi-q can attach to him easily)
· New gun hole drilled into right shoulder flap(to mount primes smaller guns to him)
· A new hole into the sides of both cc shoulder armor pieces(to mount wings)
· Roof running lights and inner windshield are from a donor semi truck toy, small pieces of styrene and green putty are also used to help fill more gaps(cc chest armor piece)
· Quarter inch acrylic spacers were added to each of cc’s leg armors to make twin cannons on each leg
· Twin cannons from a zoid turtle thing helped fill in the blank spots on his shoulders
· Quarter inch and 3sixteenth acrylic spacers were also added to his trailer/bfg to help differentiat him from cc
· On classics prime, his front bumper was drilled in two spots, then rare earth magnets were added to fill those new holes(to mount hi-q in either truck mode or normal small prime,it even makes hi-q end up just above optimus’s rear end, just like the g1 fig
· His 2 black bfg’s consist of 2 loonie store finger lights,2 small pieces of styrene and 2 g1 metroplex’s big red guns cut down and altered
· All red and blue is tamiya acrylics, clearcoat is krylon
· Color changing side stripe and autobot emblems are all avery vinyls
· Once all the clearcoat cured, every armor piece and classics prime himself got panel lined along with hi-q
· Classics prime also has vinyl headlights and tail lights
