After Laserbeak successfully transferred Soundwave's personality component into one of the Mustang prototype bodies, Soundwave infiltrated the Autobot HQ to get information on the BT Projects. Disguised as "King," Grimlock became suspicious of him, but it was too late when decided to take action. Soundwave was able to delete most of the BT investigation data files, and infected several undamaged Autobots with Cosmic Rust. Soundwave then decided to work with the new leaders, Shockwave & the mysterious Ravage until the real and only leader comes back.
Laserbeak was upgraded in secret to become Soundwave's personal weapon by using the original Concussion Twin Blaster Laser from the stolen BT body. He also kept his energon sword, although he rarely uses it. He modified his shoulder cannon to fire stronger missiles.
